Fun fact this bobcats team had as many games scoring under 70 as they did scoring over 101...4 each...and they only got over 107 twice and 112 once..now average teams average 113 a night..the bobcats got to 113 once and right now boston averages 118.8 a night....this bobcats team never got to 119 once even in ot ...in todays nba getting to 80 is guaranteed even for the worst team due to pace and threes...you as the worst teams may score under 80 once all season if that...oh yeah and they won their 7 games by a total of 50 points but they also lost a game by 44...so that means they literally went 6-1 and still had a negative 10 point differential if you take away their best win of the season....imagine adding in the other 58 losses....thats why they are the worst team....they couldn't stop anyone or score...biyombo getting blocks at a decent rate for the minutes he played was the one thing this team could see as a positive...that an maybe gerald henderson
I remember towards the end of this season, the bobcats were playing the grizzlies at home. At some point during the game Bismack Biyombo blocked Rudy Gay and said to him, “this is my house!” Rudy gave him a funny look and said “your house? Y’all got seven wins. This is everybody’s house.” 💀
I’m a Charlotte native of 21 years (I’m 21). I remember back in 2011 I got NBA 2K12 for the first time and created a MyPlayer. I was so bad at playing the game that the only team who was willing to draft me was…the 2011 Bobcats. Being a Carolina sports fan is endless suffering.
I remember i created allen iverson and did everything to get to the sixers, i was so bad at the game my own fans booed every time i touched the ball.. lol
As a diehard Hornets fan, I want to thank you for highlighting what I believe to be the most poverty stricken franchise in the Eastern Conference. Every day I can’t believe that this is the team I hitched my wagon to as a fan. Banger video btw. Hornets fans will never know joy.
The worst part about this particular season coming from an opposing fan is knowing your team at some point during the lockout year lost to this Bobcats squad. That loss will always follow your 2011-12 team any time you bring them or the Bobcats up.
North Carolina native, here. As snake-bit as the Hornets have been, I will never, NEVER, forgive them for drafting, and then IMMEDIATELY trading, Kobe Bryant!
He didn't want to play here and he,His Father,Agent,Jerry west SET up a plan to get him to LAKERS way before the draft....If you a real nc native you would know dat😮💨😂😭💀💀💯
Thought that Vlade would turn out better for you 🤷🏽♂️ He was never gonna go to Charlotte as someone else said, Jerry West had already gotten a deal done before wit the Hornets for the trade
An important fact about the Bobcats is that the reason they are called the BOBcats was because the owner, Robert L Johnson, named the team after himself.
@@justmaxproductions the 2012 Bobcats were so dumb they literally let go of Derrick Brown the one guy who played well for them and easily led them in win shares and was their one true wing but they kept tyrus diop and even corey who were all overpaid....not to mention buying out diaw...
A longtime bobcats player (and member of the 7-59 bobcats) Matt Carroll's mom actually was a teacher at my school, she was super nice and had a poster of a team around the 2010's with Matt on it, dude also has his jersey retired (and framed) at the High School I went to, he seems like a nice enough guy, shame he had to be on the worst team in NBA history.
@@supertrampolinethebatpony3841 I'm not sure, she was a middle school teacher and I graduated high school earlier this year lol, she very well could've been.
So for the longest time I had a character on 2k13 who got drafted to the Raptors. I thought that court was some dumb game glitch and I just dealt with it until I left for the Heat. I never watched Raptors home games so I had no idea that was real.
I've been a fan of the Bobcats/Hornets since they rejoined the league (I was a bit young to root for them in the 90s) and I remember that season in an oddly positive light. Im part of a great group of fans over at RealGm and while we absolutely sucked there were so many godtier memes that came out from that group. My absolute favorite meme was that a couple years back Jordan had stated in an interview that he could score 100 in todays NBA. Someone took that quote over a photo of him in front of the team logo with the statement "too bad your team can't". Bad times are good times if you've never been a winning team anyways (well except for like 1 year under Brown). My only issue with the video is that you don't properly explain why it was that Bobcats was supposedly chosen. Fan polls were heavily in favor of flight among other names with Bobcats not even featuring or being ranked extremely lowly (for obvious reasons). However the Owner of the Bobcats was an asshat named BOB Johnson and apparently he couldn't help but insert his name into the teams monkier- and as such he chose BOBcats despite it having literally no fan support- or so the legend goes at least.
Also forgot the saddest part about drafting Frank Kaminsky in 2015: Danny Ainge offered 3 first round draft picks to Charlotte (including a Nets pick) to get their pick and take Justice Winslow. Jordan and the Hornets declined...
Gerald Wallace was my favorite player as a kid. Couldn’t believe they decided to trade him away. That basically ended their franchise right then and there..:
Dunlap was St Johns assistant coach with no NBA head coaching experience. As a Johnnies fan it was wild. Jumped head first into a meat grinder. Hurt St Johns too because he provided Steve Lavin with good Xs and Os
I hope the holy algorithm starts recommending your videos to more people. Your content competes with channels that have hundreds of thousands of subs. I've been watching for a while and I've gotta say great stuff! Keep at it and I hope you get the recognition you deserve.
i clicked on the video. was so entertained for 15 mins and just expected to scroll up to see this man have like 100k subs and was so unpleasantly shocked.underrated ass channel and im glad i found it
This isn’t criticism or a correction sometimes people just gets facts mixed up but.. The team that eventually became the second iteration of the Cleveland Browns of 1999 were not an expansion team, they just ended up ceasing operations when they left for Baltimore. The Cleveland Browns we have today still share the same history and lineage as Jim Brown’s Browns 😅😂 (I’m laughing at what I said at the end)
I have been thinking the last week how does this guy not have millions of subscribers as I’ve watched all his videos. Then I realized I wasn’t even subscribed and had to change that. Keep up the work man. People are gonna notice.
I remember that year my friend sent me a meme.. the Spurs swept their first 2 playoff series and the meme was Spurs win more games in 2 series than bobcats did the entire season
What a terrible year to have season tickets to your local team. At least the playoff year was fun, still have my shirt from the home games against the Magic
I'm sure it also stung a little more knowing that he actually was drafted by the Hornets, the New Orleans Hornets before the name and franchise history went back to Charlotte.
Fun Fact: In the 90's, the Charlotte Hornets became the only men's professional sports team to sell more women's apparel than men's. The Hornets windbreakers and winter jackets were worn almost exclusively by women. I suspect it's because the team colors were just fabulous.
Okay what is the song that starts at 2:44??? I’m trying so hard to find it but I can’t remember what game it’s from and it’s frustrating haha. Super good video though and good production
I stuck with the bobcats every year they existed, would travel 3 hours each way to watch as many games as possible. They stole my prime years 😭😭😭 that magic series was also depressing
The fact that 2010 team couldn't win a game vs the magic should of told you they needed to blow it up...they had the coach the starters the solid starting fitring roster some depth and still got swept
@@razkable I moved to Dallas a few years ago and don’t have to harp on the hornets/bobcats struggles anymore. Got season tickets to the mavs and being a fan isn’t as bad anymore lol
You have the Browns story mostly right except, it was only kind of an expansion team, the Browns got to keep all of there history and image likeness. Only being brought back through the expansion.
it's kinda like what happened with the Hornets, I think the og Charlotte Hornets and the current Charlotte Hornets share franchise records and all that
@@justmaxproductions Yeah. The Pelicans gave the Hornets their history and records back when they became the Pelicans. It's actually the Pelicans who are considered the expansion team (formed in 02) by the NBA.
I was rewatching this for old times sake, but when he shows the NBA’s “foodweb of the 90s” I find it weird that the Houston Rockets, who need I remind you won BACK TO BACK championships in ‘94 & ‘95, weren’t even listed.
I have to point out two things: #1: NBA rules in 2011-12 guaranteed division winners a playoff seeding of no lower than #4, regardless of record. This meant that the Boston Celtics were the #4 seed despite winning 1 fewer game than the Atlanta Hawks. Because the Hawks had a better record, they had home court for the series, which they lost in 6. #2: 7 wins might be the most wins a team can get away with this season if they're trying to get Wembanyama
Was given free tickets to a game this season and still felt ripped off. Haven't been back to see an in-person game since. Got the tickets via my workplace which meant that at least 200 people had turned them down before they got to us peons in the basement.
I liked Charlotte as a little kid, it was between them and the Lakers and I chose LA because of Magic Johnson. I really liked the 2000's Bobcats though. The Bobcats making the playoffs was like the Giants making the superbowl for me. Al Jefferson was too plagued by injuries though, he was basically Andrew Bynum but less aggressive.
I'd say the magic definitely picked the right guy first looking back..if we could go back in time I think maybe they take iguodala #2 or possibly Gordon
If there's any team in the NBA that would benefit from a cup competition it's the Hornets. They'll lose a bunch of games with a whimper, beat some title contender by 12, and then lose to the Hawks by 40.
They may be the worst team in NBA history when you combine record and point differential, but it's fair to point out that there are a handful of other terrible NBA teams that also went 7-59. It's just that the Bobcats' season ended after 66 games whereas the other teams had 16 games remaining to get some meaningless wins.
