Watching this video 7 years later. I was smiling the entire time thinking about how long I've been following Doug and how my vehicle decisions he's helped me / my family with. Now that I'm looking for a late 2010s Tundra he's helping still! Thank you!
@@alextran8188 I read this comment and was about to say no the prius came around the early 2000's with the tundra but then a quick google search and you are correct sir its crazy to think the prius is 21 years old.
@@alextran8188 yeah especially with the newer ones, Toyota finally perfected the mechanics of the vehicle it came out with 20 years ago, now only if they could offer that same drivetrain in a decent looking sedan or at least make the Prius look more appealing I would consider buying it as a commuter car. But I guess the Prius is efficient with it's weird design being that its probably super aerodynamic
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Doug's regular car review videos (So much so, I watch them on repeat instead of listening to music while relaxing...) But, does anyone else miss the weird/crazy videos like this he used to make? I wouldn't mind a few of these sprinkled into his More Doug channel....and Yes, Covid-19 Lockdown brought me here lol - Love u Doug!
I've known Doug for a long time and occasionally watched his videos, but only recently started really going through his channel. I simply LOVE these early videos, they were absolutely awesome. I wish he made one of these again from time to time.
Those are the optional "tow mirrors". Big difference. Bought the 14' Tundra double cab to tow my RV trailer. The optional tow mirrors were only a $40 option. Other truck companies, the tow mirrors were upwards of a $400 option. Having owned three Toyota 4runner's, going to this full size truck I thought it would be a bear to maneuver. I was actually very surprised in the handling around town. I visit a lot of garage sales around town and parking is not a problem. Very good turning radius. It's little harder to back my trailer in, because of the longer wheelbase, but the up side is towing the 26' RV is very smooth on the road. The tow mirror will pull out another 4" on each side. Enough to see down the side of my 8' wide trailer. Towing a 5000-5500 lb trailer I'm getting between 11 and 11.5 mpg. 12 if I stick to secondary roads (45 - 55mph). On the 4Runner (2005 4.7L V-8) I had to buy the universal tow mirrors you had to put on and off with every use. Took about 10 minutes each time. Now, just push them in once at the campsite. In the closed position they will stick out further than the standard Tundra mirrors. Planning to go to Alaska next summer. So bought the most reliable vehicle possible for the 10,000 round trip.
Shane Lynch buying it depends on the trim, my dad bought the sr5 with the 4.6l v8 and doublecab standard bed, we got the bed protector, side steps, and bed extender and it ran him at about 35k total. granted a fully speced out tundra will run nearly double that.
-_-ineedmoremoney -_- Traded in a 9 year old 4Runner which they gave my $15k for. The Tundra 5.7L double cab Limited listed for $43k. Bought mine to tow my RV trailer....All I know with trade I handed over only $26k.
Why would you not FLY & RENT A TRUCK (or rent, just) instead of 10k miles on your truck to dangerous driving areas too with lots of horrible grim and chemicals for outside of car?!
5.5 foot bed no option for longer it only seems shorter then others because it's huge rear seats, the gmc, Chevy, Ford and dodge full 4 doors all have the 5.5 foot bed standard
95% of truck owners have zero need for a truck, and own them for the feeling of having one, so the bed size doesn't really make a difference most of the time. If someone needed a truck for a truck, they could get the extended cab.
+Leif Giering exactly when I was deciding to by the crewmax (in the video) or the extended cab I thought about how many times are you really putting stuff in the back, plus the crewmax can tow 10000 pounds
True.It actually weighs less than a Land Cruiser 200 diesel. Our customer gets about 11 - 14 mpg and he is not a slow driver(he wears out his brake pads within 3000 miles)
This still might be your most expensive video, with a 1/18 diecast land rover going for about 37 bucks. Hope the youtube ad money paid for it. Seriously though your channel is awesome, and your production method is genius. Some channels spend thousands of dollars on setting up their shoots, yours are so barebones but carried with just your presentation. You cracked the code man, good job.
Seems like 9/10 truck buyers only need a bloody inline 4 Ranger, yet, here we are... Well, really, 8/10 need a fucking Camry, 1 needs the Ranger, and 1 needs a Tundra...
and sadly the sales arent that great. im not a personal fan of it but i can respect the ridgeline as a truck car suv with a bed thing that does what most people will need
Most people buy a truck because they need to tow, but they drive them around empty because it's stupid to pay at least $30k for a vehicle that you only use once on a while.
Red'sDomain There's an American-Made Index. F-150 wins the full-size truck category. The Camry and Sienna win overall, which should still be embarrassing to Ford. www.forbes.com/sites/joannmuller/2015/06/29/whats-more-american-than-a-ford-f-150-pickup-try-a-toyota-camry/#53cd54d94ed7
+Red'sDomain "Actually its not Tundra and F150 are close arguably ford is more arguably Toyota is more really depends on who you ask but yeah" Is this supposed to be a sentence? And if so, what does it mean???
as someone who dailys an 07 tundra, not much has changed, the center console is probably the most absurdly, gloriously massive thing I've ever used to store stuff. honestly i don't even know half of whats in it and its not even half full its so gigantic
this is what i imagine a very wealthy person who worked hard for their wealth would drive. It's reliable, it holds its value, it's extremely practical.
Love the Tundra. very practical and enough room. yes its big. I have a 2001 tundra which was about half this size, and is amazing offroad and so reliable.
+Ralph Hardwick I don't try an SUV for luxury, or even want a luxury car. Way to flashy. A suburban is a truck with an enclosed bed. A range rover can't handle the towing a suburban does when you're from a ranch.
If its anything like my truck, the rear seats have much more room than the front passenger. if i am driving with friends, i toss them the keys and sit in the back
Toyota makes the best utility & offroad vehicles. We dont get the Tundra in Australia, we get something smaller but no less manly. The almighty Toyota Hilux
Silleb This is genuine criticism of the video. How am I supposed to know if 24 feet (not sure if that's an actual number in the video, but alright then) is much? My only context of size here is what I see.
The 2017 Tundra was the only recommended full size pickup by Consumer Reports. I had an 07 Limited for a few years and loved EVERYTHING about it except for the MPG.
When the Tundra was last given a full update, it was the best half ton you could get, aside from fuel economy. It was towing the same as a 3/4 ton truck. Unfortunately they haven't updated its towing capacity or engine in ten years.
Fox-E (Bonzai) Congrats man! How do you like it? haha Man it gets a lot of attention doesn't it? I love mine! Although I got it in stealth grey, I wanted it in yellow. Still love it!
Ismael Flores I love it! It's hard on gas but what do you expect with 6,500 pounds? Mine gets some attention but mostly people just ignore it...... Half the people around where I live probably don't even know what it is? 😐
