The Queen's Colour Squadron, 63 Squadron Royal Air Force Regiment: With special guests United States Air Force Heritage of American Band and Full Spectrum
As a former RAF Regiment gunner, it's fantastic to watch QCS go through their paces. Best drill team in the world. All movements are from the drill book, performed with style and alacrity. Per Ardua guys!
@@JetstreamAviation747 They took part in an inter-service field gun competition. They had to pull the gun to the top of The Rock of Gibraltar. The RAF Regiment got there first. Hence the nickname... ....Rock Apes
i wish it was The British Empire ruling me. But still I got the heart of a British. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN, LONG REIGN THE QUEEN, GOD BLESS ENGLAND FROM HEAVEN.
Wow ..im ex QCS 1981 to 84 . Didnt have the trip to USA but great visits to Denmark n Germany plus all over UK performing ..great days ..cheers to old muckers ..Jake Kelly.
As an ex RAF Flight line Engineer, only one thing on this planet scares me. An RAF Regiment Warrant Officer. Show me a ticking UXB, no problem. RAF Regt WO speaks, I wet my pants.
BTW, I should point out, even as a techie, I had that marksman thingie, you know. Spent a lotta time with the RAF green jobs. ten of them, and you had a working brain. That's a JOKE numb nuts. Horses for courses, all in blue. Even given that WO regiment. You gave me a marksman's ability with a belgian FN 7.62 SLR Don't stand anywhere I can see you asshole.
I did my two years National Service 1949/51 most of which was spent at RAF Uxbridge. It was then the home of various units including the Central Band of the RAF and RADU. This stood for Recruits Advanced Drill Unit and a pleasure to watch. It was subsequently renamed and reformed as part of the RAF Regiment and is I believe now located at nearby RAF Northolt.
I am mproud to have been a member of the RAF Regiiment Sqad that handed ove RAF wahnback to the New German Airforce., the local mayor asked us to go through the routine agine. Many thank to W.O Danny Gourd
Just a small comment from an old 'Crab' regarding the Introduction as they marched on: Squadron numbers in the RAF are said as in "Six Three Squadron" not "63rd Squadron". Only one exception is "Six Twelve Squadron" But the Rock Apes did good as always. Totally superb and every move pure drill. No showbiz bullcrap. Even the lights looked like runway landing lights ffs ....
@ATLAS Mercenary Well I have to say you are not totally correct. The number of the Squadron is its title and the announcer should have used its title. That was the point of my comment. And I never used 'tree' as 'three'. More like 'Fife' as 'five' (unless it was a countdown to firing anything when it was not said) and 'niner' for 'nine'. You didn't seem to know what a 'Crab' is either? I did 15 in the RAF ('70 to '85) after being in 150 City of Oxford Squadron ATC. At a time when we were the Queen's Colour Squadron as well.
Quite agree with you 1chish, It annoys me when R.A.F. Squadron's are Americanised and referred to as '63rd Sqdn' instead of being introduced as either "No 63 Sqdn" OR "63 Sqdn"., and particularly by supposed experienced Commentators who should know better or do not do their RESEARCH, I have had many an opportunity to Correct them!. Likewise I get extremely irritated when referenced is made to the "British Royal Air Force" when it is uniquely "The Royal Air Force" for the following reasons. 1. The R.A.F. was the first Air Force in the World to be established officially. 2. It is the ONLY Air Force that does NOT contain the Name of it's Country in the Title. 3. Also it is the longest continually serving Air Force in the World. 4 The R.A.F. is second to None. 5. Post the Battle of Britain and the resistance of the R.A.F. by retaining Aerial Supremacy that stopped the Nazis from invading the U.K. whilst providing a presence in the U.K. in 1942 for the U.S.A. to base their most welcome power in this region. It was the fledgeling R.A.F. Bomber Command that went on the OFFENSIVE post B.o.B. when the Royal Navy and British Army were too stretched to effectively establish at that time a combined Offensive. 6. By the R.A.F. proving beyond any doubt the Power of Aerial Supremacy/Aerial Intelligence is Essential plus taking the Infant RADAR to greater heights in it's potential ... the R.A.F. despite being the Youngest of the Three Services can quite rightly be referred to as overall the "Senior Service". " Per Ardua Ad Astra"
@@altaylor3988 Point Nr. 2 what about the Air Corps (Republic of Ireland)? Also, for a large part you are only correct about the English translation of the name of different Air Forces, the FRG's air force is simply called "Luftwaffe" without refering to the nation for example, the Dutch is "Koninklijke Luchtmacht". Point 4 is entirely subjective. Point 5, even without RAF air superiority, Britian still had the Royal Navy making a German invasion practically impossible. Point 6, the RN is literally the senior service of the UK Armed Forces and as such only the RN can rightly be refered as such.
The band was dreadful and the acaustics shocking. But the lads themselves were totally briliant, - as always! A credit to our country. We're proud of you
My daughter is about to do her initiial traing for 10 weeks to serve in the RAF she would absolutely LOVE to di this BUT she is 6'0 would she be allowed to join? they all seem to be the same height
Your daughter can apply to join the Royal Air Force Regiment as a Gunner. If she does; all the very best to her. It's a Corps to be extremely proud of.
This is pretty much what all British continuity drill is like with the Queens Colour Squadron being one of the best for it, I don't like showy drill either which is why I don't tend to watch US continuity drill as it tends to be all show etc and not like this.
Fair play ..but i gotta say every movement is strait out of the British forces drill manual and we spend months rehearsing every day ..hard slog in all weather ..cheers
The Red Arrows and other RAF aerobatic groups (The Falcons and the Typhoon) Show off the RAFs ability in the sky meanwhile the Queen’s Colour Squadron shows off RAF discipline and abilities on the ground ;)
IT LOOKS LIKE LITTLE BOYS PLAYING WALKZEES!!!! NO NEED TO SCREAM, AND THE MUSIC???? IS KRAP !!! MORE MUSIC LESSONS AND BETTER MUSIC!! EVER HEARD OF SOUSA???
It is a yank band and Sousa's 'music' is crap' just an arrangement of one piece. If you want real marches then loom to Kenneth Alford. The Queens Colour Squadron are the best at drill bar none. During the drill no orders were given. It is the trade mark of the Queens Colour Squadron. All the drill movements are in the British drill manual
