3:45 the vent is not fake. the hood scoop has canals under the hood that move the air to this vent to produce some down force.

In black looks great! Love the contrast with the red. You're absolutely right that in black it makes it look less wonky/ricerish.

The side vents are functional. The air enters the hood scoop and channels itself to the side vents. The air that is exited is mainly hot because that air was used to cool down the engine and for down force/aerodynamics.

the Polished metallic one is my favorite, gives you a sense of maturity and still looks clean and aggressive.

My dude, the vents behind the wheels is the air coming from the Engine bay Ex. The hood scoop purpose is provide more airflow to carry out engine heat and makes its way towards the fender vents .

Guys loud exhaust doesn't mean speed and Honda was never about being loud or fastest 0-60 it's about experience of all around performance, so stop expecting that to change! The rest of love them because they are the best overall.

I love this car! Just bought me one today from the showroom.

The vents behind the front wheels lead to the engine bay. Thay are for cooling. There's also ducting leading from the air intake on the bonnet to these vents.

The cooling ducts for the front brakes are in-between the faux carbon front splitter and the front bumper

the front vents by the tires are fed from the hood scoop. theres a metal piece under the hood scoop that channels air down the sides into the vents. you can see if you open the hood and look in the back corners of the engine bay on the sides. you can see the channels that are fed from the metal piece under the hood.

If you popped the hood you'd be able to see the hood scoop vents to the engine AND is routed to send air to the front brakes hence the wider fenders

I totally agree with the exceeding of expectations.

The front vents on the sides of the front bumper are aero only. They lead to the vents to the front of the side doors that you said you didn't know what those ones where for. Then the air travels down the sides of the car and hits that strange aero design by the back wheels

Great review, but anyone wanting this car louder can do mods, but if you understand noise restrictions for global market then you'll understand. Also this car is based on a civic and enhanced by great engineering to optimize a regular to make it a track day car as well as a daily driver... Too many people finding fault but no engineering degrees

The air vent on the side on the civic is located under the hood on each side closer to the firewall....allows the engine let out that heat😎

3:35 The air enters the bonnet scoop, gets channeled across the bonnet to the side vents. I've inspected one and that is done for downforce as a low pressure builds up there from curling back off the windscreen and it causes stability by sending air into, through and under the car.

The side vents are for hot air to come out from the engine helping it cold down.

I had a 2001 accord coupe ex vetec and although it didn’t have the best 0-60 it handled way better than most other cars and I could easily do 80-90 around sharp country roads and overall it was the most fun car I’ve driven and provided the best experience. I loved it more than the Mercedes, mustangs and Nissans I’ve drove and owned.

Just a quick correction if it hasn't been said already: Vortex Generators (4:12) don't "swirl" the air. It's the complete opposite, they "Straighten" out the air so that it's clean and not turbulent. Most notably used in Aviation on wigs and other surfaces that might encounter turbulent air

If you follow those front vents they go through the side panels and not into the engine bay. then they come out those vents on the sides u thought were fake

The big vent along the side of the car allows the air to come from the inside of the hood to the ourside of the car. Check inside the hood on the sides. You'll see the vents

Only criticism is the exhaust sound, but I think you can upgrade it through various shops.

I have this car in black. Changed exhaust catback non resonated with matte black tips from Milltek sounds good

How does a hood scoop provide downforce? You need an area of high pressure up top and an area of low pressure below for that. Evacuating air from there is the opposite of producing downforce?!

Those vents on the front bumper funnel air to fool the brakes then out of the wheel well vents.

I love my 2019 Type R. I got a white one because I think white shows all the vents and scoops. I want people to see all of that and look at the wing and ground effects. Maybe I'm still only 15 years old at heart, not the 65 I really am.

This is basically the 2018 JAS Racing TCR Civic (same engine) but adapted for the consumer. It is as Honda claims; it's a race car for the road. Yes, it is a FWD race car like many touring cars.

Air means everything, I was riding my 90s concourse bike and I can't go over 100. On paper it's good till 140. I just can't deal with the questionable air the cargo and everything gives my bike so much drag.

These front air outtakes behind the wheels are not fake. They are connected to the engine bay.

Forrest, sorry, but I had a terrible experience with Honda of Fort Worth and will never go back there again. Maybe it was just their used car department, but I've never felt so frustrated and insulted with a dealer as I did with this group (and that says a lot because I've put up with a lot from many dealers in DFW). Thank you for taking the time to review the Civic Type R. My biggest issue with the car is the lack of AWD. I think the hatchback is going to have an appeal to the WRX enthusiasts that want to see a hatchback version of this type of car. However, that's why I also think one of the big turn-offs for some people on this car is the lack of AWD. Also, when you recorded the exhaust, even the base WRX has a better sound. I couldn't even tell the car was running and had to turn up my speakers. I also find the three exhaust pipes a bit odd. I imagine this will be one of the first thing tuners who get this car will want to change. When you were driving the car, you didn't mention things like rev hang or turbo lag. Does this car suffer from either of these items? The rev hang drives me a bit crazy in my WRX. If this car does a better job with both of these, I can see that as a selling point.

The wheels are not 19” it’s 20” and the vent by the front doors are functional. Pop the hood and look at the hood scoop, cold air comes in and the hot air comes out thru the vents of the front doors.

I honestly wouldn't mind it being front wheel drive... I was debating getting a 350z but they're all rear wheel drive, so having that as a daily driver out in Maine wouldn't be practical.

Never touched a Manuel before Did research on this car having problems with throttling and the Clutch Master Cylinder having to solve the issue? Not fuel efficient either Hard to bring it down from 35k to 25k, have to look everywhere... Thoughts?

It exceeds everyone's expectations. Cars amaZing. I own the 2018... 6100 miles... Love driving it. I destroy people on the corners... Cars a serious weapon for the TALANTED driver. Kids will never know the true talent this car has. Honda priced this car properly.

I haven't seen this car in person yet and all the problems people have with this car are liveable with and others can be changed . not everyone has vision beyond the stock car .
