Both my mom and dad had their own 1992 Lexus LS 400. Of all the cars they owned, the Lexus was better and more reliable than any other cars.

I have a '96 ES300 with 298k miles on it. The engine is still good. Once you own one of these, you know it's a quality car. My family isn't full of gearheads so the car didn't even get much maintenance and yet the engine runs like a well oiled machine.

That original 1990 LS really reminds me of street fighter

The fuel will overflow because there's a valve down in the gas tank pipe leading to the actual gas tank that closes after you close the fuel door protecting it from getting stolen and the fuel doesn't splash out, and in this case automatically closes after 30 min.

Have an LS400 (92). Have loved it since the first day. Can still get it to a hair over 130. All problems are with the bolt on's & some minor electrical. Thx for the tour..must've been a loaner..interior scuffs are a distraction.. lol.

Pretty sure with increasingly strict emissions standards that when you open the fuel door, it also vents the tank since the gas pump should recover any gas fumes, but they want to reduce the amount of fumes that are venting to the environment as much as possible.

Maybe its best feature? Over 700 miles of driving range, for the Hybrid. You could drive from New York to Miami and stop once for gas

I think smog function, closes the ventilation in the car so it circulates the air inside instead taking in the dirty air inside your car [I'm not sure if that's the function but i always thought about inventing such thing into the cars, was surprised people didn't came up with it yet] if it is then well done Lexus.

I have a 2017 LS460, I was at my local Lexus dealer today for service. It’s cool to give a direct comparison for LS460 and LS500. I’m 6’1 and the LS460 has plenty of head and leg room both front and back. The LC500 I had to turn my head sideways in the back seat and with the front seat in my position I had pretty much no legroom in the backseat. They ruined this car completely. My LS460 isn’t even a long wheel base.

I remember riding in my friends original LS when I was 12 (I'm 42 now) and to this day have never been in a vehicle as quiet!

I’m not going to lie... I like it. I’m not a big fan of modern luxury cars - if I had any choice, I’d probably buy a Lincoln Continental or a Cadillac Eldorado from the late 60s or early 70s - but Lexus really outdid themselves. The interior looks very smooth, and there’s a perfect balance of analog and digital for me to like it. If I had the money, I’d certainly consider it. My only gripe is that stupid gear stick - why can’t they just go for a simple gear stick like the one on the 90s LS? Nonetheless, it’s certainly a nice car, especially for the money.

Great if I'm mad in my new 2018 120k LS it'll be easy to smash the door trim since it's kuky glass LOL!

I know in America not a lot of people get chauffeured around but this class of cars are made with focus on the rear passenger seats. Owners of these cars wont care about 0 to 60, handling, steering feel, etc.. they would do mind on how it rides at the back, how much you can stretch or lie down, how quiet it is, how deep you are at the back so people will not notice you. In my part of the world, the high end minivan of Toyota, the Alphard, is so popular among the rich because the 2 rear seats are practically lazyboys. Also plush as a lexus. Lexus is king now in the luxury segment. Reliability is something the Germans havent matched in a Toyota/Lexus. Maybe you can get someone to drive you around and ride the back seat to add on your detailed review. Thanks for the review, it was still the most detailed one i saw in youtube😁

My question is why is that car so dirty from the inside if it's a new car?

The VIN on the floor is mandated in Europe if I'm not mistaken. Every Euro-spec car has it. As far as I know it doesn't have to be on the floor but it has to be on a fixed place on the body somewhere (not moving parts like doors) so many EDM cars have it on the floor just like this. I know this isn't an EDM car but maybe Lexus started to "print" floor VINs on all of their cars.

My 2012 Ls460 which we drove from Milwaukee to Vegas , when we moved, works immaculately....I had a 750 i beamer that one day started leaking oil in the garage..they said a $50 pipe inside theengine is the problem...labor to get to the pipewas 10grand! I immediately traded it in for the LS...7 years later///very happy.

Lexus makes the best car on the road for value, reliability, style and comfort imo. I’m buying one tomorrow. An LS460. 380 HP of Exciting . Just getting out of a lease for a Genesis G-90 (stunning car) & it was fun for 3 years but now I’m going back to Lexus.

The smog sensitivity works for the air conditioning, when you put it in automatic mode, it has a CO2 sensor that decides if it should be in recirculating mode , or taking the air from the outside

So if 3 people sit at the back, the seat control screen is folded and stowed away. So then how does one adjust the rear seat? 🤔

The smog sensor is for the passenger that is being savaured around so they know whether to get out of the car if the smog they set is not to their own healthy preference. Comparing to the fresh air circulating in the LS.

I legitimately don’t understand why people buy other luxury brands. In my experience working at a dealership, Lexus makes the nicest cars I’ve ever been in. Everything is just so high quality inside.

The smog sensor sentivity monitors smog levels on the exterior of the vehicle. It will recirculate the air automatically and provide heat or ac for the temperature setting that was put so the vehicle isnt pulling air from outside on light or heavy smoggy days.
