You know there’s nothing quite like a Mercedes-AMG. And yes, cars like the GT-R are truly spectacular. But for us, things get even more interesting, when you start cramming all of that performance into a smaller package like this C 63 S sedan. So, let’s crank this little powerhouse up, and wring it out.

My Mercedes S420 did not need a transmission rebuild till it hit 67,000 miles. Paint did not start to peel until 80,000 miles. I did not feel too bad because my neighbor Barbara's mercedes S500 paint started peeling before mine. Steering jitter at 42 mph was barely noticeable with active tire balancing and perfect tires. Crank trigger went out at 42,000 miles but not a big deal as it was parked in the garage at home. Towed to Star Tech Mercedes Denver and fixed. Constant tire pressure warnings and other codes that take control of your digital read outs but not a problem as all you have to do is call Mercedes and they can talk you through the steering wheel buttons and menus to clear it so you can read the dash and get to your destination. Fix what is causing all the codes when you get back from your trip. Door closing aid stops working but not a problem as all you have to do is slam the doors extra hard to close them all the way. Mercedes flew techs in from NY to trouble shoot the closing aid problem all the while Mercedes loaner was a C230 compressor while my S class in in the shop for weeks trouble shooting never solved. The fix was showing me where the fuse for closing aid is located and when the problem occurs simply pull the fuse and replace it. And more... The money pit never ends. Go to owner review sites and see how these mercedes cars stack up over time. Funny the Mercedes mechanics tell me the S420 version is by far the best.. That car had a lot of computers and electronics. Even more now.. Scary thought Other wise... Great driving and handling car...

Traditional AMG's have been RWD, it's the newer models recently that have been going 4matic AWD.

@Capone you might wanna re-watch the video. At no point was the car called a "lightweight" he simply said the gtr's engine & DNA was put into the c63. Also, he said there were no hardware updates to the cars suspension, as in actual new or updated parts, which is true. But he did state that software updates were made, making the comfort and race settings you mentioned better in their own regard.

Paul Denney of course the 6.3 AMG V8 is one of the best V8s ever made especially that naturally aspirated sound but the one thing for the 4.0 twin turbo V8 is that it sounds better than other turbo engines and it is mastered well It still has that amazing performance AMG has

Gets 27mpg if you drive it normally. And what's off about the 0-60?It's around 4 second. Could probably do up to 3.7 sec.

Car and Driver clocked 0-60 at 3.7, with some better tires, they could have easily hit the threes. I have a 2019 C63 S, it's a bad ass car. They ran an 11.9 @122 and that's damn impressive for an RWD.

I loved my 6.2L but it needed a limited slip differential. One wheel peels weren't very cool. I'm sure a C63S+ or performance pack will add one to this model.

@Capone dunno if you noticed that in a few corners in the vid, the diff was not locked. I'm sure it was a lot more difficult driving to look good than it actually handling good.

why do they still call it a 63 if the engine is 4 liters? i guess MB thinks people would think c40 doesn't sound as impressive as 63.

Honestly I'm disappointed that this has a V8 like the Mustang yet only makes a tad over 500hp WITH twin turbos mind you. Where the Mustang and even Camaro make close to those figures naturally aspirated. With those twin turbos I was expecting somewhere in the mid 600-700hp at a minimum.

This same engine makes more horsepower in other AMG variants. They are just limiting it to this number. Best sounding car in its class. A very visceral car. Mine arrives in a few weeks. Can't wait.

Carbon ceramics have gold calipers from factory on amgs. So yes they do. This car has them in the video as I'm sure you noticed lol

0-60 4 seconds ???? im driving a 4800 lb 750li with all-wheel drive, a 6 spd trans, with 20inch wheels and im getting 4.4 0-60 i also have 100 less hp and 100 less tq something isnt right with those numbers,,,

11.9 sec @ 122 quarter mile😱. No stock c63s has ever run that fast. Therefore, either Motorweek got the numbers wrong or the horsepower is very underrated by Merc.

Car and Driver ran 3.7 0-60 and 11.9 @122. I have the car and I can tell you it’s the fastest RWD car I’ve driven. My 2016 E63 S was faster but this car looks better and has a lot more tech. I almost bought a 2019 E63 S but I didn’t want the $1500 payment. My next car will be a 991 GT3 or Turbo.

Electric Eye Slide I didn’t realize car and driver got those numbers from the c63s. Enjoy and of course you know if you get the Porsche Turbo, it will be faster than 99.9% of the cars on the streets

moescolla Thx man. You’re right. I had a 2002 996 911 Turbo and it was a blast to drive. Bought the Benz sedans to tow around my kids without squishing them into the 2+2 Porsche. The C63 S is really a neat car. Tons of tech and nice looking. Really quick for a rear drive car.

Have you ever tried to get a car sideways and maintaining a nice long drift line? If you have, do it again and try a longer drift line. If you haven't, try it.
