When you drive one of these newest models, even the cheapest 4 cyl, it's amazing how great the performance is and overall feel of quality. This new model is really a level up from anything they've made before. I've not tested the 6cyl, but I bet it's amazing. I thought Mercedes has been making sort of crappy cars since 2014sh...but their newest 2020/2021 lineup is all top shelf and very very nice. Especially if you consider an equivalently-packaged Chevy Tahoe (that ISN'T made in the USA anymore) will cost you another $10,000 MORE!! MBUSA should be proud of these cars and the quality they are offering for the $$$.
I love the last gen of GLE, I was almost trading my 2017 Q7 but I end up with keeping it because refinement was pretty much the same and Q7 trunk is bigger
Nope. User Error! John says MBUX" got it right 2 out of 3 times"? John asked 3 questions and got 3 answers. John muffed up the first question by speaking too quickly before MBUX responded "How can I help you".
Have to say I was excited to finally test drive a GLE, I’ve been waiting about a year longer than my usual trade in time with my E class. Unfortunately the new GLE350 was a huge let down that 250hp four cylinder has no business in an SUV this size. And that starting price is a joke, my 2014 E class at least came standard with some options, everything including a working version of those screens is an option. The GLE350 with normal luxury suv equipment like my old E350 is now $71,960 with an engine that struggles to go up a hill. Forget the GLE450 equipped with leather seats and nav its $81,390. At the 350 price point I can buy a Land Rover Discovery HSE with a 350hp V6, real leather not mbtex, heated, cooled and massaging seats with an air suspension, touch folding 3rd row and adaptive cruise for 70,960. Or the Range Rover Sport HSE with a 390hp V6 and all the same options as the Discovery for 78,210. Or a Volvo XC90 with 310hp V4 with similar equipment to the GLE except the Volvo has real leather for 63,780. The GLE is overpriced, underpowered and overrated. Yes the iPad front screen is nice, the touch pad, knob controls that my old Benz has still sucks, I’d much prefer the touch screen everyone else has gone with. But from the cheap hard plastics on the doors to the underwhelming engine and stereo I decided on not buying a Benz for the first time in two decades. Not sure how much these reviewers get paid by Benz to hype up the car or they just never drive the 350 and don’t realize the 450 is 80k.
do not buy any Land Rover they are endless money pitts with 0 reliability. I know people that bought Land Rovers end they are completely disappointed. 60k-100k+ dollars on junk car.
BMW and Mercedes are twins basically, both have 7 SUVs to choose from, started Mid size SUVs 20 years ago and the new X5 and GLE are basically the same and as capable. Tech on the BMW is probably more advanced but so little. They even have coupe versions of SUVs. It’s basically which one looks better to their taste X5 or GLE
