Imo the front looks good as well as the side But I’d probably get a charger scat pack over this. The transmission is just better in the dodge and that 6.4 392 is amazing

@@maxd6663 I loved that car. I was around 23 at the time. Couldn't afford so I went with an rsx. It was fun... but I really wanted that CL-S in the burnt orange paint.
@@dha588 that’s not accurate. The TL type s still hold its value very well especially for a 2008 car, you would be lucky to find one under $10k even with high miles.
Honda killed the Euro i.e., ‘beefed up Accord’ version and refuses to sell the Acura brand in Australia. We’re left with the boring accord, civic and city and no V6 engines ever since 2017. It’s like Honda is daring us to switch to Lexus.
@@techboys100 I was looking at putting an 08 S type engine in. There’s a 08 S type Manual with the A-Spec kit and a comptech supercharger. It was rear ended and the frame all the way to the back of the front seats is demolished. $3500 firm but in my eyes that’s a deal
only disappointing thing is it's a lot slower than I expected. M340i with AWD does 0-60 in 3.9s or so. But at least they priced it right 10-15k less if the description is true
@@juandelapena963 I agree, however, seems they were looking at long term reliability. In addition, this is engine is brand new, give them some time to tweak it. Perhaps they will be able to knock a few tenths off in the coming years, who knows.
I'm excited to see people tune this car and really push its limits. It has such a good starting platform for tuning and would love to see a 500+hp tlx type s!
@R W, it’s rare to encounter such reasoning on auto performance review sites. Time was 0-60 in 6 sec. was quick, then 5.5, and then 5.0. Now a ride is ho-hum if it’s not down into the low 4s. And that applies to truck/SUV chassis as well. This is so much about ‘specmanship’ for bragging rights that means little for daily driving on public roads. What’s more, these hot rods are marketed by professional drivers, contrasted against enough YT videos showing “John Doe” buyers cracking-up their rides around trees & this & that. Not suggesting performance vehicles should be banned, not at all. Yet it’s obvious today’s high performance vehicles well-exceed most drivers’ abilities.
Are they though? This thing is completely non-competitive in its class from a performance perspective. A full second slower 0-60 MPH than an M340i according to most of the initial performance estimates reviewers have been dropping today.
@@mattspeer01 the TLX Type S just beat the Audi S4, which itself has previously edged out the Mercedes C43 AMG from a dig (see Throttle House's drag race). The Acura is certainly competitive here.
Nice effort from acura but this isn't even in the same conversation as a C43 or Audi s4 and you can forget about even comparing this to an M340. It's literally a full second slower than a RWD M340i
21:20 you owe an apology to nearly 1 million fans/subscribers for this. It's been debunked that S4 is 5-7 car lengths faster than the Type S. It's not even close. I'm so disappointed you agreed to do this stunt. I've followed your channel since 2013.

@@ztotheu2974 Acura still held back on it, played it safer than it had to, If Infiniti can get 400 hp out of the 3.0t, why didn't Acura at least push for 390? But I don't think it sucks, there are worse cars than this and better
A BMW 330i, let alone an M340i, with the same options that are standard on the Type S will cost about the same as the TLX. No question the Acura is a better value here.
@@Spiritcr1jsher Pricewise, a similarly optioned 330i competes with the TLX Type S. The Acura's V6 turbo totally outguns the 4- cylinder Bimmer at this pricepoint.

Seems like the limited drag race vs the S4 at 21:40 is misleading. Sam Carlegion did a more extensive and repeated drag race test against the S4 and the Type S lost every time.

They are going to be replacing the ILX with a different nameplate, and many people think they are bring back the Integra name, but I don’t think it’ll be a coupe as no one buys small coupes anymore
@@tonyhector4842 not to crush your dreams, but there is literally little to no chance that Acura does that. Don’t make yourself too happy on hope. But I really doubt Acura is gonna make a coupe.
IMO the 2004-2008 Acura TL was and still is to this day one of the best looking Japanese sedans I have ever seen. The styling to this day holds up beautifully. I wish Honda just captured the essence of that era TL in the new TL-S. And the last generation TL especially in S form is definitely a much sought after automobile. At least Honda had the sense to keep the awesome Quad exhaust which definitely pays Homage to the 04-08 Generation type S version the few years it was offered. I had a 6 speed manual 2006 murdered out black TL that I purchased in cash in 2006. I put 168K almost flawless miles on that wonderful car. My 1st ever FWD car and, um, yeah FWD is definitely WWD (Wrong Wheel Drive). I would have loved to have the SH-AWD but it was not even an option at the time. Ok that’s enough waffling out of me but Honda/Acura y’all need to step it up in the styling department. The new TL-S is definitely better than that last generation TL with that grill/face only it’s mother could love. Man was that Ugly!

That used be almost 3900lbs and Zero to Sixty was 5.2 seconds. This new Type S is a beast can't wait to own it aftet it's 4 years old and easily this engine will make 450hp and 450trq with some mods..

@@Panda-ho7ef I’m the 2nd owner, it’s a 5spd auto and had it for 8 yrs and put 55k miles (now has 104k) since then, with spirited driving once in a while, no tracking/racing or tranny launching, regular maintenance (oil changes) the car is basically bone stock under the hood, transmission fluid (using honda/acura atf oil only) was changed at 85k miles with no issues until now.
So Sofyan why did you guys stage this? Other reviews, S4 is pulling on the Type S like a freight train. Did you guys purposefully left the Audi in Normal mode with low octane gas in it? We need answers.
You can even see S4 dip front end when the other driver lets off the gas pedal. I agree, this is embarrassing and beneath the brand he's worked hard to build.
Sweet car!! I bet that 3.0T is one if not the best engine in its category, just like the 2.0T is. When people start modifiying the ECU this car is gonna start taking on m3s, m4s. Enjoyable review!
I’ve been looking forward to this car because I like the brand, but even a tuned 3.0T won’t catch a M3/M4. M3s/M4s start at 425 to 520 with just a stage 1 tune, plus this car is about 400lbs heavier. Hard ask. Still, this is awesome from Acura. Stock M3s/M4s run 3.9 0-60 to about 3.4 tuned. The new G80 runs about 3.7 to 3.8 stock.
Not really. K20 is tried and true whereas this 3.0T is completely new design with no history of reliability or performance. Time will tell but last time they experimented (3.7 in the TL SHAWD) it was a disaster (oil burning).

@@-SP. Depends on what model of Stinger you’re talking about. The base Stinger GT rwd is the fastest model. At 13 seconds it’s not beating that Stinger. It might beat the GT2 awd though since that’s the slowest model.
When you said you upgraded to 4K video I had to go and watch this on my 4k TV instead of my tablet as usual lol!!! And I tell you I was not disappointed!! Awesome car!!
I used to respect you a lot. still do. But deep down you know the race with the S4 was BS. He was in comofort mode. Go watch Sam the car legions channel. He did 7 races between the 2. It really shows you how the S4 is miles ahead. They have the same HP while the S4 is lighter and more underrated. You purposely frauded the results. Ever since your video 3 more videos of the TYPE S vs S4 came showing the S4 dominate the Type s. I’m disappointed in you
I like everything about it. The exterior, the interior, the HP and it's the only turbo driven car I'd consider. Good review but I question why all the comments about luxury/safety features that are left off. Does anyone ever use the sunroof anyway? Who buys a sports car to have lane assist/and 5 other safety features that only drive up the price? keep it low so we can afford one.
As Sofyan seems to allude, looks like the TLX Type S is closer in matchup to the Stinger GT than the G70. Both TLX and Stinger are heavy (4200 vs 4023 in GT1/2 AWD) but both manage to hide their weight well in street driving, similar Brembo setup, AWD torque vectoring, nearly identical 0-60, same price range. Notable differences the TLX is longer, but less rear seat and trunk space than the Stinger (sedan vs fastback), single turbo with double scroll vs twin turbo, lower hp/torque than the Stinger, FWD-biased vs RWD-biased, 10-speed vs 8-speed. Would love to see Redline do a comparison test between the two.
The k24(4 banger) is basically a eco friendly engine designed to control emissions. Some idiot had the bright idea to slap a few mods and a turbo on it and it'll out run pretty much any hellcat or factory sports car. Im curious to see how beefy the internals are on a turbo 6 from the factory. Honda ftw

I said the same thing. Honda was truly devastating their competitors with the dohc b series motors back in the 90’s, why won’t they put that technology into the j’s? About time.
Glad Acura finally brought back that Type S badge. It seems worthy for the most part of the name. Loving that exhaust sound, however I wish Honda would have made the car lighter and size more manageable too. As far as the standard sunroof vs pano roof, I like a standard size better because of the weight savings, especially on an already heavy car.
Great review! Nice 4K upgrade and graphics. At the end, you forgot to mention the optional carbon fiber package. Otherwise, this would be my perfect performance sedan. It has everything I could want, including the Apex Blue Pearl and the ELS sound system. It doesn't have to be the fastest among its competitors, but it holds its own, thanks to the great engineering. Looks, sounds nice, but could have the otger features mentioned, especially the 360° camera. I could go without the carbon fiber and other mussing features. I wish I had the money I did 15 years ago, so I could get it, and it probably would last a long time, since I wouldn't be driving crazy.
@@1gertroid the maintenance costs will be very contrasting. Acura could’ve made this much faster, at a price perhaps not many would want to pay. It’s more comparable to the q50s since its around this same price range. Im confident the Acura will outperform the q50s for around the same price, on top of that a more solid, proven long lasting quality from Honda/Acura that is hard to find nowadays.
The g70 doesn’t even come close to the Type S styling wise inside and out, g70 may be a bit faster but it’s butt ugly not enough to be a better car, and you can buy a Stinger with the same engine and looks better for less.
Most people aren't taking their S4's or M340i's to the track so I think this very competitive vehicle. Attractive and very quick for the freeways and streets. Hopefully enough people buy this so I can get one used in a few years.
