Cool board, pretty similar to my Salomon Super 8. The 3D nose and backseat camber really suit my turn style when the snow is deep. Tends to make my back leg tired really fast in other conditions.

Amazing review. I own a 158 Ravine and found it a bit soft and the nose sloppy. Especially we traversing to find some powder. I eventually purchased a 158 Rome Mountain Division that offers the explosive support I like about the MOD and missed when riding the Ravine. I wish they didn't discontinue the Mountian division. I am hoping the Ravine Select will fill the void. Side Note: I hope the Blur is now just the Speed Freak. Another board that was too amazing to discontinue. Rider= 5'8, 170 pounds, Boot size 10

I’m about 6’1” 185lbs. Bought the 2021 ravine select 158 and I was really unsure if it would be long enough … but I used the recommendations in the comments here and Angry was right. Definitely feel like it’s the right size for me. I can imagine the nose on the 163 would feel huge and would be great for strictly pow days in open runs and bowls etc but too long for navigating trees and side hits quickly which I like to do. This thing was like a missile through the 3-6 inches of soft snow I was riding today and it’s surprisingly nimble and quick edge to edge. Would recommend.

I've never been on a board with the 3-D shape in the nose. How does it carve and hold an edge?

@@fizzled95 Ravine is my daily driver. The 3D nose shape feels like you’re riding a skateboard with your front trucks looser than the rear. Ridden this ravine so much between the park/groomers/pow im thinking about selling my mercury and grabbing a select

Yo! Love the reviews man! Was looking for a surfy-feeling powder/free ride geared board that I can really throw throw around in the trees and is quick/maneuverable, but still had decent stability and edge hold for hitting lil side kickers and groomers. Was looking at the Burton Skeleton Key, LibTech Orca and Rome Stalefish, and was leaning towards a 150 Orca (i’m 5’9, 160lbs) until I stumbled upon this lil gem. I was potentially worried about the turn initiation/ edge to edge quickness on the Orca and thought the Ravine Select might be a more nimble, more surfy alternative to the Orca better suited for the trees, but wanted to make sure the Ravine would still check all the boxes that the Orca did outside of the trees and pow. Any thoughts? Much love.

Sweet board. How would this compare to the capita mercury. I live close to Banff and like to ride powder, trees, steep terrain and like to go hard. Sometimes I ride switch and cruise through the park but not too often and like to butter sometimes. You think this would be a good board or can u recommend something's else. Awesome reviews too!!

Hey Brian, Angry S., this is really interisting, Mercury have been my go-to deck for everything past 8 years and this is not gonna change. But i'm really looking into buying Ravine Select as bit sitffer more pow pow deck that can charge faster and harder on groomers. Maybe striaght lines through the park. Basically I want it as my resort/pow deck with Capita staying on park/resort side. Would you agree ? Thanks.

@@MatusiSK buy the ravine, treat the park like a wave and surf it. It wants to turn and wiggle more than it wants to go straight. This thing is a quiver killer and it made me hate my mercury. This thing is fun from the white ribbon of death all the way above the treeline

For someone who prefers rocker and hybrid rocker profiles (mainly only for catch-free, relaxed, stand-up riding on the cat tracks), how does this setback s-shape profile compare?

How do the 23 models of the Ravine Select and Jones Mind Expander stack up against each other?
@AngrySnowboarder
@AngrySnowboarder Год назад
New ME got camber so it's closer to a regular Ravine now, while the Ravine Select has flax impact plates and sidewalls added to it making for a stiffer more damp ride.

The 3d diamond spooning on the nose of the board, does it start after the front contact point or before? When carving, does it produce a loose feel when engaging the front contact point (like other lifted contact point tech, up-rised fenders) or does it engage immediately ? BW
@AngrySnowboarder
@AngrySnowboarder 3 года назад
It basically moves the contact point back towards the front foot. It's a little looser that's for sure but if you're looking for precise edge bite then don't do anything with 3D shaping.

Hey Angry! Looking for an all mountain quiver of one deck to play around the mountain, good for chasing pow and some park laps. My trick bag is basically some 360s on small-medium jumps and hitting some rails either straight or sideways. Would this board have me covered or would I be better off looking at the standard ravine, the agent or the national?

Hey Angry, can you please give me an advise on what to choose between the Korua Otto 157 and the Ravine Select 158? The Ravine select is on sale now on a local shop, and i can get it at the same price as the Otto. I have only ridden a rocker 156 DC board (medium flex), and enjoy riding pow, and fresh groomers, not much into freestyle, beside occasionally some sidehits. I'm a bit worried that the select would be to stiff, and a bit to large. Do you think that the 2 cm in length make a large difference? Thank you, and keep up the good work.
