EXCELLENT episode. As I mentioned to you in chat, I've heard of basically none of these before so it was fantastic getting to learn so much (and thanks for the shoutout!)
That Ultraman Trigger joke had me properly laughing. Also given me a boat load of new shows to watch, especially that of the new Japan Sinks adaptation. It's so nice to have you back Mike.
So about Gandeen's continuation, I got a feeling it could happen because NHK did a similar "3 episodes for 1 year" before this with the drama adaptation of Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan in 2020 & 2021, which was a bit toku to me despite having minimal special effects.
Ahhh thank you so much! I'm really excited to dive into some of these. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought mainstream Toku in 2021 was disappointing - good to know there's still good quality toku being made 😁
It's also nice to see anime and manga getting in on the tokusatsu craze; Sentai Red Isekai, Love After World Domination, Fuuto Tantei... Fuuto Tantei alone has me SO hyped. W is one of my personal favorite Kamen Riders, and what I've read of the manga is making me crazy excited to see it in motion.
Thank you for making this video, I'm still new to Toku so I'm always excited to find shows outside of the big 3. I would like to learn more about the Local Heroes and how they came to be
I really enjoyed Zenkaiger and I think Revice is one of the best Kamen Rider series, but just for clarification, High School Heroes is a Drama with Tokusatsu elements that aims to promote the Super Sentai franchise and a Japanese boy band so there's no reason to worry.
Let’s just face it. Tokusatsu and Johnny’s a.k.a. Johnny and associates don’t mix very well. Now, this series could be the exception to that, but we’ll see.
It's just that Highschool Heroes isn't a Tokusatsu series, it's a Drama series that has elements of Tokusatsu, just like Tokusatsu GaGaGa, and it's just something that will be explored once to promote both the boy band and the Super Sentai franchise so this time we don't need to worry
As someone with only a minor understanding of Japanese and who does not want to raise the good old Jolly Rodger, where could I legally view subtitled episodes of any of these shows?
Japan Sinks is available on Netflix with English subtitles. Tochiongar Seven is on RU-vid with English subs. Check the playlist at the end of the credits for links.
