As stated below, a markup doesn't equate to a scam. Some dealers will try to scam, but others know what the market will pay and follow the rules of supply and demand. It's not fun, but it's reality
@@MilesPerHr I completely agree. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything. If you don’t absolutely NEED a car, which most of us don’t, there will be at least 50% less people buying cars. Then supply will be similar to demand equals to no markup. But we Americans like to change cars every few years and with the current situation you pay the price. That’s the reality.
By saying get it in writing to sell to you at or just slightly above MSRP after ordering it? He didn't say go out and swallow the $40k markup if you want it. Don't forget, pre-pandemic the dealers couldn't sell the remaining C7s even at a discount below MSRP after the C8 was announced and was able to be ordered. Family friend has a 6 month wait on his new Ranger that he ordered.
@ProteusXF do you work for a dealership? i'd be surprised if a consumer says sth. like that. I mean you can apply demand & supply theory to a secondary market (i.e. buy a car and sell for profit for market value which I don't mind), but for a dealership to sell above msrp is just a pity. Especially now with Tesla's mode of selling it makes other dealerships look really bad
I've had my 2022 just over a month now. It was so much hype, I worried it wouldn't live up to it as I waited for it to be built. Every glowing review did not overstate how terrific it is. Cadillac ride quality when you just want to cruise. And ferocious canyon carver when you need it. So many stares, pictures taken, and conversations started at every stop light and every gas station. Now that I own one, I see why they sale over MSRP.
It’s been two years know have you gotten it yet? If not work ot, I believe in you, I bet I’ll get mine before you I’m calling it. I’ll get mine 2025 or 2026.
You should always negotiate, but anything (car, food, etc) is worth precisely what the market will pay/demand for it. If tomorrow, shoe production stopped, demand would remain, causing prices to rise. In the current market, vehicle production has slowed, while demand has remained high. As long as people will pay over sticker, dealers will continue to charge it.
As a Corvette-loving Ford guy (I know, I know, but I love both Vettes and Mustangs), I have always respected Chevy for making the base Corvette, even non-Z51, spectacular sports cars and nothing to scoff at. Mustang...not so much.
Probably my next car next year. I’ll be getting the 2021 for sure since the 22 and 23 will still go for over 100k. Plenty of 2020s going for 80-90k right now.
G82 xdrive for now... living in the midwest, I can't justify a 5 month pony. Z06 Def on the short list if and when I can have a dedicated fast car🤘 thanks for your consistently awesome content and dialouge throughout.
I was gonna go G80. But I read car and driver’s long-term review. Snow tires on this, all the weight over the rear wheels, it does just fine in the Michigan winter.
Mine will arrive next week. Orange, BUT I ordered body color accents. Dual silver stripes, silver engine cover, dual roof, front lift, 3LT black/natural with natural belts. I wanted to remove the black from the exterior. Folks may not realize it, but orange is a $995 option. Stripes and body color accents $995 each. Mag lift $2 grand +. MSRP is $93,500. I DID NOT ORDER mag ride. Cheap option comparatively. I simply do not want it. I’m old school to the core. I want to feel ALL of the suspension. Most of my cars have been extremely violent, even dangerous. That’s how most of us old farts roll. To each his own.
Would be nice if you had the same povs with only the engine sound. Beautiful views, cars, perfect pov, engine and wind sound. I'd be watching those on repeat
I never saw the pricing for these so I was almost shocked to see the markups being 12k on top of 88k as tested. Not trying to say it's reasonable or downplay the severity of these markups but if you're about to buy an 88k car then chances are you could afford more than that.
in a strange way the interor reminds me of the mk4 supra, if they actually made the mk5 to look like the mk4 id imagine the interior would be reminiscent of this
get a z06, 8600rpm redline. Highest revving domestic production engine. The only two close to it are the 8250redline of the gt350, and the 7200redline of the old LT5 corvette engine which was technically developed by lotus in the UK.
I'm in a 2022 PDK GT4 and I am already on the list at MM for the Z06. The C8 is an epic car, but the Z06 is going to be next level, just have to endure the long wait times. I am looking at 3 years, but at least I have the GT4 to hold me over. Although I have a feeling the GT4 is going to feel like a toy Miata compared to the Z06
@@mike786551 About 9 mths ago. I am way far down the list. If you go to the Midenginecorvette forum, all the sponsored dealers are MSRP dealers. However all of them are years out and some have their lists closed.
The damping and the composure is impressive. Wow. Do you get road feel and corner weight rom the steering? I've read it feels a bit video gamey? Vs the R8 this is an easy pick.
It’s funny how people simply don’t seem to understand the laws of supply and demand. Which is another phrase for the word capitalism. If the market bears increased cost, then that is the true value of the product. That’s how it works. If the product isn’t worth it to you at that price, don’t buy the product. It’s funny how people don’t seem to have a problem with Porsche having the highest margins of most manufacturers, or for all these exotic cars priced at exorbitant values for about their cost of manufacture. Bottom line, Corvette offers incredible value.
Oh wow so great 👍 and very beautiful 😍❤️ and very good design with the new 🆕 technology for the new 🆕 generation hument to play ▶️ the life style very easy to drive and comfortable ❤.
Markups are going to happen in this market. It's not cool, but it's reality. What I'm saying is that the C8 is such a good value, it's still worth it even with a "market adjustment". Of course, always negotiate!

Title needs to be changed… this car is not worth markup. Great vehicle, phenomenal even! But not worth markup especially since the Z06 is on its way. Stingrays are a great value from around 75k-80k.
Depends on the markup, and of course, everyone should negotiate, but having driven all this car's competitors, the C8 brings value few can match. Even a little over MSRP, this thing is a deal.
These are cool, and I have always said that I'd have one (a corvette) one day..but if it were my money, I'd rather get a tesla model 3 performance lol.
I don't condone dealer markups at all. The point of the title is that even with a fat premium on the MSRP, the Corvette is worth the money. Dealers will always try to squeeze every penny out of the consumer, and a wise shopper will negotiate any excessive markup, but especially in today's marketplace, getting out the door at MSRP is very difficult. What you call clickbait, I call an honest impression.
Who said anything about a scam? Every consumer should negotiate, but as long as people are willing to pay over sticker for a car, dealers will charge what they can get away with. It's not right, but it's capitalism. My point is that even with a premium over MSRP, the C8 is a great value
Really unimpressed with the design of the Corvette ever since they went with the center mounted engine. Corvette has always been about this long nose with the cabin far behind.
Your title is SERIOUSLY a problem. There is no car in the world worth a DEALER’S (which had ZERO to do with the engineering/designing/manufacturing of a car) markup. Please don’t say things like that. Then you’ll have uneducated car people going to dealers and paying markup because you said it was okay. Dealers will then continue to do it because some clowns are willing.
