Starting in October of 2022, striped bass began to blitz peanut bunker or juvenile menhaden off the New Jersey shoreline in Monmouth County. The stripers ranged from 28 to 35 inches with the occasional larger fish mixed in. The striped bass blitzed for several hours each day. But this blitz was a bit different than those seen in the past. The unhurried and tactical nature of this hours-long attack, was interesting to watch as anglers began to flood the beaches. Hordes of striped bass methodically attacked the bunker, with massive numbers of bass calmly hanging behind, picking off any straggling baitfish. Much of the feeding activity took place away from the dark pods of bunker. This incredible footage, captured by Anglers Journal contributor and New Jersey sharpie Tom Lynch, shows what unfurled day after day for several weeks. It may just be the best bass blitz ever captured on film. For more info visit AnglersJournal.com. To see more of Tom's work, visit angryfishgallery.com.
