Dad has one and getting 47mpg and 600-700 miles to a tank. Also, rival dealer offered him 5k while he just bought it driving it home so they could resale it 10k above sticker. He special ordered it from factory with folding cover and spray in liner and the dealership only made 400 bucks profit. So they wanted it bad so they could markup.
great review, been waiting 5 months on preorder of this exact model (but in gray), hopefully Ford can actually get these built, so existing buyers get theirs and stealerships can't get away with these heinous and greasy markups

Almost the same as my XLT Maverick Hybrid... only difference I added the sunroof instead of the rear sliding window.. No build date set yet from Ford.. ordered mid August.. great review !
I went all in, with the Lariat Hybrid lux package, the only add on when I ordered was the sun roof. When I got it in late Jan. I added the tri fold hard bed cover and floor mats. I'm totally happy with the Maverick.
@@mackenziesiemans59 I haven't got it yet. Called the dealer aging yesterday, and it's still not in. I do believe it does lock when you lock the tailgate.
I ordered this exact Maverick last August (2021), my build is at the factory in Mexico with expected delivery in mid to late June (2022). You’ve given a great preview of coming attractions. 👍🏻
@@joeking433 must be location and or my dealer allotment! It's crazy to me that there are still June and July hybrids unscheduled. Ford is really dropping the ball to early customers who had faith in the maverick.

When did you order your maverick? I ordered mine November 13 and received my first email from Ford that my maverick would be delayed due to material shortages. I ordered a xlt hybrid with only a hitch, sliding rear window and a 110 outlet in back seat.
@@benchoflemons398 Ford ranks above average in terms of reliability, actually beating out Honda, Nissan, Subaru, and Acura for reliability. This was according the the JD powers ranking which ranks on average how many issues each brand has per 100 vehicles when analysed over a 3 year period.
@@benchoflemons398 Also, we currently own a Kia, and a Ford. Both have been very reliable, but the ford has proven to be more reliable. With no repairs replaced thus far over a 6 year duration and counting, not even wiper blades. Whereas the Kia is quite a bit older, at 12 years, but it already had repairs done by the time it was the ford's age. Again, both are good, but the ford is better.

If I’m doing my math correctly 6ft3inches of diagonal bed, so little giant or step ladders should still fit diagonally. I could be off! Also mind the wheel wells, that shrinks it by 3-5inches?
@@cessealbeach The only reason people buy Tacoma's is because they're "reliable" which is funny considering how many issues the current Tacoma generation has, and the fact that consumer reports ranks the ranger and frontier as being more reliable than the Tacoma. But don't tell Taco fans that, their world will fall apart.
The real choice is a Ridgeline! Hoping by the time I need to replace my ‘22 they got a hybrid version that can still tow 5k. I’m not even kidding, the Ridgeline is the bomb. I can haul my motorcycle on a hitch carrier, or put it in the bed with the tailgate up and tow a camper. I also have an in bed tent for it, which allows you unzip the floor and reach down into the trunk in the bed that doubles as a cooler. It’s got speakers built into the bed (on the upper trim levels) The back seats fold straight up leaving the floor flat, great for dogs. When the seats are down the underside of the seat is free to keep stuff under it. The seats are like an upwards folding Element seat, instead of back and to the side, it folds up and together. Comes standard with all the doodads that allow it to drive down the highway by itself, even around corners and it can change lanes just fine on its own. You just turn the turn signal on and it does it. I still think the Ridgeline stands on its own as the perfect middle ground between SUV and Truck.
Correction, $3305 upgrade includes both the turbo engine and AWD. Plus you get 8 speed trans and upgraded independent rear suspension. Very reasonable for all that extra capability.
REMEMBER, The Mav IS NOT a compact truck. The Ranger & Tacoma are compact trucks both of which are much LARGER than the Mav. Remember when Japanese trucks first came to North America? They were called MINI TRUCKS. The Mav is the same size as those. !
I had a chance to try our a Maverick as far as ease of entry. (No test drive, it was already sold) With the driver’s seat all the way back, my right foot wouldn’t clear the door opening. Extremely difficult to get in. I’m 5’11”, 245 lbs. Once in, the seat felt narrow and cramped. I was really looking forward to owning a Maverick, but I guess I’m just a little too large. I think I’ll wait for the next gen Ranger, whenever it hits the USA market. It’s supposedly due as a 2023. Two inches wider, two inches longer, I think they said.

Agreed, but it would probably be positioned well above the price of the maverick hybrid. Plus we haven't seen Hyundai testing any additional Sante Cruz models. Once we start to see mules, realistically it would be at least a 12-18 month wait before said product was revealed. But I'm betting we won't see a Sante Cruz hybrid for 2-3 years if they do it at all.

something i've always wonderd about hybrid system do you have to plug them or does the gasoline basicly do it all if its a hybrid because that confuses me i know some you can just plug it in and do both but on the mavrick does the gasoline just do it all no plug at the house needed to keep it in like lets say a garage
There is no plug in on a hybrid. The electric motor runs off a battery that is charged by the gas motor so you never have to charge it by plugging it in to charger. There is something called a Plugin Hybrid that is basically a regular EV that you have to plug in to a charger but it also has a gas motor for backup if you run out of battery.
For a conventional hybrid, the gas engine and electric motor work in concert, with the gas engine powering the e-motor's battery. Plug-in hybrids offer the ability to run on electric power alone and can be charged via outlet. When the battery is drained, it defaults to conventional hybrid operation.

@@dominic6283 - Ford and Toyota did work together on hybrid powertrains for the Escape. Ford hybrid these days is a quality powertrain. I’ve got a 14 Fusion hybrid with 103k miles - no motor or battery issues. A gas sipper!
This hybrid system is basically what ford has been using for like 15 years. There are escape taxis with this powertrain that have lasted 500-600k with no mechanical issues. Websites that specialize in talking about reliability problems have openly stated that it's hard to find people who've experienced reliability issues with ford's 2.5 hybrid system.
@@dominic6283 Bro, our ford is proving to be more reliable than my cousin's Toyota of the same age, it's not even close. The explorer is rock solid, their highlander is getting engine repairs.
Bro, people are getting 45 mpg left right and center. The lowest average long term mpg I've seen this far was someone who was getting like 36, and he said most of his driving was highway.
Sorry that is so wrong for Ford to do that to you. Frank the Handyman channel has a video about the Mav with a comment from Mr Gary who ordered a hybrid XL the end of August and took delivery in only 3 1/2 months on Dec 17. Ford seems more worried about pleasing the dealers with allocations than taking care of its customers. Builds should be based on date of order no matter which dealer you use.
Bro, it's not Ford's fault, just keep your order, it will be worth it in the end. Huge demand and massive shortages are issues plaguing the entire industry. This is especially true for newer models which generally experience higher demand. To put it into perspective, the wait list for a rav 4 hybrid is over 2 years and closing in on 3 right now.
