The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe is a Quirky Looking & Less Practical GLE-Class

The narrative of sport SUV’s being awkward or weird looking is honestly outdated. Everyone loves the look of these vehicles. Ultra luxury and sporty.

This is the vehicle you purchase when you like a sedan, but want the commanding road view of an SUV.

Every time I see a video of someone driving this car the driver is all laughs and smiles when stepping on the gas. Can't wait to get my own and experience this for myself.

I couldn't disagree more with the overall assessment. People shopping at this level aren't trying to save money, otherwise they wouldn't be looking at this. Secondly yes, certain Tesla models are faster and cheaper, but they're built like a kit car with NO luxury to be found. I can see the argument between the Coupe version version the regular body style GLE, but not the argument that you're better off with some junk electric from Tesla. It isn't even a comparison beyond 0-60 times. Tech buyers in my experience aren't even car enthusiasts and a Tesla is like them buying a new phone, not a car. 0-60 times are not the end all of car ownership/experience.

Not everyone who want's a SUV style vehicle with it's higher riding position, want's to have a big box stuck at the back of it. Like not everyone who drives a _normal_ coupé (Not a coop!) wants to have an estate car. I think the coupé style SUV's are good looking and certainly have enough boot/trunk space if you know you're not going to be lugging wardrobes about.

I have a full size SUV but the GLE is a perfect size as the Coupe lights my fire as it looks sporty and fun. Coupe it is for me. Fun fun fun

If you hold down the DOWN SHIFT when pressing start, you get the sweet revved up engine sound. A little trick I learned from the MB tech.

Just picked up mine. Love this car. Great utility and also wicked fun when not hauling the family do stuff around.

having a v8 engine is not comparable to an ev because the experience is entirely different. having a v8 engine is not only about the acceleration its the overall character of the drive

Some people need towing capacity more than cargo capacity I'm 5'9 and most of my family are 6'0 or shorter or own their own cars so passenger capacity is not an issue either there are people who only need specific aspects of an SUV but also don't need the capability of even a small pick up

This definitely is better looking than the Porsche Cayenne coupe and BMW X6.

The body style reminds me of the 1982 AMC Eagle SX4

We just dumped our 2019 GLC-63 AMG. Couldn’t shift from 1st to 2nd, wore out it’s tires in 6300 miles and the AC condenser is down near the ground, in the front scoop of the bumper. Caught a rock and that was $3400… yup it’s gone

The x6 definitely looks better and more sporty. It's a better option than the gle

You pay $2G more - not for less but for a brand new chassis SWB w/ wider width + better proportioned weight - that’s what ‘coupe’ really ‘means!’ (actually it’s the drive + the looks) Sofyan however couldn’t tell the difference! Maybe if he drove them one after the other, rather than half a year apart, his opinion on this particular point - and it’s a big one for most who prefer the coupe - may change?

I love this vehicle, unfortunately Mercedes-AMG chose to use the TCT Transmission so no launch control in a 150k AMG! For that reason I would not buy this. Essentially this GLE has a similar transmission setup as the C43 and GLC43’s. TCT = Torque Converter Transmission. C63 S, E63 S, GLC63 S all have MCT (Mutli-Clutch) transmission with Launch Control. GLE 63 S, GLE 53, GLC43, C43 have a TCT with torque converter without launch control. FYI to potential buyers.

I love this car, the regular GLE looks like a soccer mom car. Boxy and all. So ummm no. 🤣🤣 but I have a 53. Wouldn’t pay for a 63.

U have been hating on all model SUV coupes for the past 4 years now. It’s time u give up. They look better than the boxy regular GLE, that’s what most of us think but we don’t mention at each review.

Maintenance on this car will be a nightmare😡

BMWs interior quality is bar none better. When I was cross shopping, that was one of the determining factors. Design is cool but quality is below the bimmer but on par with Audi. And with no wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, it’s a pass

It looks like my 2018 Electric Blue Sonata from the rear but slightly vertically stretched. Even the front headlights look the same.

I grow tired of the "CoUpEs HaVe 2 DoOrS" nonsense! Times change, definitions change. Everybody just needs to keep up. Coupe SUVs and 4 door car coupes are called coupes due to the sloping rear roof, a common look that prior standard 2 door coupes also had. That one feature from those vehicles are now added to current vehicles and utilize the term coupe. It's really no different from calling all the trucks SUVs when the vast majority are crossovers. Initially, SUV was a body on frame vehicle like a pickup truck. But now, all of the vehicles with that style is just an SUV. In regards to the coupe name, I do prefer what Audi calls them, a Sportback. It would be better if all makes used that term, perhaps Audi trademarked it though, idk. I'm still fine with coupe though.
