Such a shame that V60CC and V90CC getting discontinued here in Norway. I work at a Volvo dealership as a detailer, and own a v60. The CCs are great cars!
@Tomm9y
@Tomm9y 2 года назад
Having XC70's for 17years, the V90CC is next. Apart from missing Apple car play, I wish they had kept a more square tailgate. A de-chromed dashboard/interior would be nice.
@danxcsixty1538
@danxcsixty1538 2 года назад
It's because Norway is going electric. Volvo needs to drop these ICE-only CCs and go to their full PHEV and BEV versions of the CC (which they rather absurdly call "Recharge"). Norwegians would probably buy them in large numbers.
@cbatiau2528
@cbatiau2528 7 месяцев назад
@@danxcsixty1538 Americans would probably buy CC wagons in PHEV and BEV form in large numbers also, but provided that Volvo brings back physical buttons/switches/dials for climate and audio and drive-mode controls, and stops following Tesla's horrible styles in their interiors. Going "Tesla" with everything in infotainment screens (and with horribly deficient instrument panels) just turns off potential buyers.

5:38 This is probably one of the most ironic moments I've seen in any YT video. You are talking about the car not being really fast, as you pass two crosses marking the site of the fatal accident.
@sebbelito2975
@sebbelito2975 2 года назад
That 180km/h limit was implemented recently as a "safety" feature. As all roads have speed limits, in Sweden max legal limit is 120km/h, Volvo thought no one would ever need to go faster than 180. Which is both true and not. I mean, open highways at night, 180 is not much haha! Especially for a car this size. We will probably see more of this in the future, especially central Europe.
@RoadsUntraveled
@RoadsUntraveled 2 года назад
Makes sense! 180kph isn't a speed most should be travelling on public roads at any given time, was just surprising to see a limiter that low. If there is a manufacturer to lead the way with this though, Volvo seems like the right one.
@norbertmayer7005
@norbertmayer7005 2 года назад
But if you’re ready to part with some money you can unlock the car in Germany. It’s just a marketing tool, no one has died in a new generation Volvo going above 180kph.
@norbertmayer7005
@norbertmayer7005 2 года назад
@patrickchinka I didn’t know that. I’d love a source on that. That means that they try to upsell to T8 just to get the greater speed. Make sure it’s MY2022 and forward that you’re looking at.
@Colin623
@Colin623 2 года назад
I think you will find it has something to do with Volvo's pledge that no one will die in a Volvo post 2021/22 so limiting the speed is part of that commitment, which adds up I suppose, I think 112 mph is plenty fast enough anyways, never been a problem for most of my life where most cars I've driven could barely reach 100 mph flatout 😄 so this limit is absolutely fine by me.
@stephkent2736
@stephkent2736 3 месяца назад
For a US/Canada car it needs to be able to go 140kph for Texas highways. 150-155 is the reasonable max for overtaking, so 160 -180 isn’t anything anyone should complain about

I'm on my second V90 Cross Country, a 2022 B5. Understandably the reviewer doesn't really know the car. Three points: 1) On earlier models (e.g. 2017) the driving modes (comfort, sport, eco) were selected by the driver using a roller switch on the centre console. In the 2022 edition the switch has gone but the modes are still there, the car selects them by itself based on driver inputs. If car detects you are pressing on, it will respond to that. The fourth mode, off-road, is now selected by the driver via the centre display. 2) The car is run by Google, it's much more than simply Google Maps and is a fundamental feature. It is far better to control the car's equipment with voice commands rather than poking around on the centre console displays. That can be very distracting. If you want the temperature increased to 23, or to recirculate the cabin air, or a host of other things, just talk to it! 3) the advanced driver controls e.g. Pilot Assist, are magic and make the car so relaxing to use. Bottom line is, these wagons are fine bits of kit.

Thanks for these comments. I am happy with my 2017 v90cc and due to yr age have been considering newer. Unfortunately to date, I've not been able to identify a benefit. Regarding - talking to it. You're absolutely correct. Most reviewers don't acknowledge this on any car. Aside from 'comfort' the drive mode I use most often is dynamic. Using this on 2 lane New England roads is, to me, great.

As an owner of a 20’ V60 R-Design in the US, I’m extremely sad about Volvo discontinuing the normal V60 and V90 in the us. But I guess the CC versions will live on :)
@danxcsixty1538

These B6 non-plugin versions are absurd. They should just go full-PHEV (and later full-BEV) with the Cross Country wagons, especially with the new "Extended Range" battery packs in Volvos in 2022. I can't figure out why Volvo has applied their PHEV drivetrain to every model in the Volvo line-up except their Cross Country wagons. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

It’s a part of their marketing. You can pay and raise the limit to 250kph in Germany. Also statistically speaking very few accidents happen above 180kph. It’s all just marketing and brand awareness.

Idkkkk we loooked at some. Got an Audi Q5 for just under 60k with some really nice Q7 wheels on it all new. This would have the luxury tax, and is allready a lot more then the Audi. Would be a hard sell for me.

Considering selling my m4 for one of these. Was going to lower , step lip a set of bbs lm to 21” and some other minor aesthetic work. The engine however is a huge turn off for me. I hate and despise supercharging. The fact that this one has an electric supercharger is even worse. A lot of heat and tech just itching to go wrong in the not too distant future. Still considering it though. Great vid just wish it was fully optioned and in white. Volvo should know better than lending out testers for videos in full and uninspiring colors

In 2019, the European Union ruled speed limiters will become mandatory in all new cars sold by 2022. This is why such a thing exists in this car, even though its built for the Canadian market. They've also been planning this since 2019 and stated the following: "We believe we have an obligation to continue our tradition of being a pioneer in the discussion around the rights and obligations of car makers to take action that ultimately save lives, even if it means losing potential customers" RIP Volvo.

Huge mistake for Volvo, going to this "B-type mild-hybrid" for Cross Country wagons, when they should instead be coming out with PHEV and BEV Cross Country wagons. The non-mild-hybrid ICE-only Cross Country wagons with super- and turbo-chargers were bad enough; these "mild hybrids" are just a joke, and it's sad that Volvo invested energy in designing these instead of plug-in versions, which would undoubtedly sell much better (especially now with the 18.8-kWh PHEVs). Mind-boggling stupid.
