Always wanted something like this w/HDMI output. Glue one of these to the back of every monitor/TV in the house and use input select on the monitor/tv to repurpose the work areac for audio jukebox. I use similar and much more cumbersome and wire-fettered setup on my desk. Switch it over manually after work to do my evening stuff.
thanks for this video Hans! the Primo v1 was already a good product. do you think the v2 is a step up soundwise when no using the balanced outputs? of course both v1 and v2 versions upgraded with a good quality power supply. and how do you think it compares to the Limetree Network?
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel thanks. do you mean v2 better than v1, better than Limetree or both? nice to see how fast Volumio is improving their hardwars and productline.
Thx for your detailed and extensive review of the primo. Have you tried feeding both the switch as the primo with the same linear power supply (like the LHY lps25va)? According to the guys from Alpha-audio, this yields the greatest improvement on sound quality. Even to the extend that it can compare, soundwise, to € 2K-3K streamers.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Thank you! Found this in your other video, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vmRj7zx9s_o.html I have a question re. Ferrum Hypsos On their site they list it as 110 ~ 240V AC in 5 ~ 30V DC out 6A/80W but Volumio PS output is listed as 5V/3A - is this not a problem?
Hey Hans. As always, a very good review. I was thinking of buying it and using my Ifi Power X. Would that be much worse than the S booster? Thanks in advance.
I appreciate that you tested with a variety of power supplies. Would you have any reservation to attaching the Volumio Primo to a battery capable of the 5v 3a needs? I will appreciate comments from others as well.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel hello - can you please test the Emerson Wattson Madison? This is streamer, DAC, with leedh volume control. That would be great! Thank you
@b9702 If you don’t have to provide it for the power section, battery’s work fine for me. I an turning more and more away from my Burmester stereo to a headphone system because for me it’s the better experience. And the advantage is, that you need relativ little ( and cheap) components for an outstanding result and they can be easy driven by battery’s. And because the high rise ( in a short time) with high power demand is omitted, it works just fine. My headphones don't show any digital noise and the edge rise at high dynamics hasn't shown negatively for me so far.
Thank you very much for this detailled review. One personal question. My Streamer is a Linn Akurate DS-1. The DAC-chip used is a Wolfson 8741. Can this aged machine compete with current streamers like this Volumio or the aune S10n? What do you think? Best regards!
The DAC chip said only a little about the sound quality. Power supply, circuit board design, clock crystal quality and so on are far more important. Since Linn doesn't respond on my request for a review sample on line, I have no experience with the Accurate DS-1 so I can't say.
Hi there. I am thinking of using this as a network bridge being used with chord qutest DAC. How wouid you think they wouid work together? And wouid you recommend the DAC to be connected via USB? I have a 10tb use library to plug into it too. Currently I can't take any more of the terrible aurelic lightning ds software. It's awful. So I'm looking for a new bridge Many thanks
