Having test drove one over the weekend, I have to say I came away impressed with the smooth ride, very quiet cabin. (Check that out in a Corola cross} Interior materials were of high quality and superb fit and finish. Handling was good considering the type vehicle. Steering was a little light compared to what I'm used to, but overall, a nice sized vehicle for a couple or a small family .
Encore GX is a huge improvement over old Encore, but it is absolutely worth it to step up to new Envision which is a grown up real vehicle with proper handling, engine, interior space.
@@JourneymanVan this is more like a vehicle for young office females. Single Canadian males overspend trying to look masculine buying large pickup trucks.
It looks good to me, especially the exterior. Subarus always look like they’re about to tilt and fall over on their faces, front ends always look so heavy. I like the stance of this Encore GX much better and the updated styling looks very futuristic and stands out in person. Love the paint job and those wheels a lot too! Also, I’d like to add that this display housing may be overdone, but the actual display looks very clear and premium and love the wireless touch which some full on luxury cars don’t even offer you yet.
Nice little ride, but I can’t get over these small little rinky dink turbo 3 poppers. We all know their not going to last, and they always feel anemic. Great video as always!
I think it all depends on the material use and design. Toyota found a way to get 300hp out of a turbo 3! But these small forced-induction engines do worry me with longevity concerns. The early 4cyl Ecoboost buyers has to learn the hard way.
Why not stick the1.3 liter in this thing in Envista as well and give it a bit more power since it is seriously underpowered. It just doesn't make sense at all. Buick is a very confused brand.
It’s like they’re trying to make economy cars, luxury cars, and suvs all in one but it isn’t doing any of those things well. I think they just don’t want to invest any money into anything. Ironic because they get huge bailouts all of the time
It's Epa standards as a brand the overall MPG has to meet guidelines. For example, thats why Dodge and Ram became separate. Under the same brand Dodge could no longer meet the EPA guidelines.
GM change that chime already . I remember that chime in my grandfathers ‘82 Chevy Caprice . Don’t get me started on the reverse lights turning on when vehicle is locked .
Yeah GX is Grand National suv version of Encore that what base off of but that stupid cause Regal is original Grand National and Encore is Remake which is nah
Thank goodness you aren’t the CEO of *gm* they would be closing their doors with such closed mindedness at the head of the cooperation. You older folks and your old thoughts which you think are the future is absolutely hilarious.
thank you for another great car review. I can't get passed the 3 cylinders though. It appears to be a good commuter car for consumers. I had to laugh at the comments about the ages of the typical drivers they've seen driving Encore's and then they still watched your review. Pretty lame.
I had a 2015, good little fuel efficient vehicle, it was just a little narrow though, had they made it a few more inches wider, but it was definitely easier to fit in parking spaces and other narrow areas😊
IMO,....the long screen is supposed to be "cool techie".....and I suppose it is....but for me, it is making so many dashes, in many new cars, lacking inspiration. They're all just a slight variation of the others. Just another large screen without design inputs.
I wouldn't consider the previous model. The new front end is much more stylish and futuristic, not your old Buick grill design that's been on their vehicles for years. The digital gauges , even if the graphics aren't colorful, I'd take any day over the boring previous generation analog gauges. I have driven one and was impressed with the overall package.
@theredline just a suggestion: during a review install a rear facing child seat behind the front passenger and show us a leg room for the front passenger. As example audi q5 front passenger seat is unusable in such setup.
I believe that the front passenger seat fold down just like the Chevy trailblazer. So many of these reviews completely miss that in their reviews. Allowing you to actually sleep comfortably in it on long distance road trip. A friend has an 2023 trailblazer he let me borrow to go in in the local mountains to do some Target shooting. And spend the night sleeping in it . I'm 6'4" and had plenty of room sleeping quite comfortably in it. And yes his is the AWD and it handed the fire roads just fine.
No matter what model year of any Encore, the turbo's are cheaply made and fail often. If the vehicle is under warranty, no problem. However, if you purchase new and plan to keep it after the warranty expires, you should buy an extended warranty to protect yourself.
We got one a couple weeks ago, Preferred with comfort package and power liftage, i really didnt go in looking at this suv, so didntk now about the ST, cause i really like the black wheel look, that is SHARP. I personally think the rear seats should recline, i think there is room for that, also i think, for the size of the engine, i think it should get close to 40 mpg, the Kia Rio, is just a tad smaller, and it can get about that. The steering is a bit loose feeling, like you said also.
I got one of these things as a rental while my Mazda3 Premium is in the shop for body repairs from a deer incident. I'm grateful I got to drive it because now I know under no circumstances am I spending my money on GM product. It is 2 years newer, costs 2 grand more, is about half as fast, worse gas mileage, the build quality would have been maybe considered decent 15 years ago, these days it sucks. Ergonomic choices are baffling with button placement that makes no sense, beeping at me to brake cause cars in front of me are stopped... When I'm already on the damn brakes, beeping at me when I hit the brakes turning off the cruise control, the rear view mirror camera combo that when in screen mode doesn't do enough to remove reflections so I see the screen + the reflections... It's beautiful just how bad GM could do on a car.
Judging from looks alone, the Envista is a much nicer vehicle from the outside. Also, it has an automatic, rather than a CVT. I have a feeling that older folks looking for a Buick on the cheap will lean toward the Envista. It's just more like a classic Buick (without a bigger engine).
When it comes down to mainly on price, yes it will sell more. The Encore offers AWD. The Envista only offers FWD. That is a huge selling point and also huge price difference.
@@JqMidwestthen I totally get Soyfan’s gripe with the Encore. I agree it should offer AWD as standard especially to help it fight the Envista’s crazy value proposition at the dealership. Many folks are going to set an appointment for the Encore and leave driving a Envista. The reality is AWD is a preference for most and with modern day traction control FWD is all majority of folks need. AWD becomes less important to folks after they see how much they’re actually getting with the Envista.
When the “quicker” engine is still 8.6 seconds 0-60 for a “premium” vehicle 😴 Give me an option for a hybrid or turbo engine for $2-3k more and it would be a lot more appealing.
GM should have killed Buick and kept Pontiac. This is a weak entry. This looks like all the same tech in a 2013 volt. Rental special trash but reliable for 30000 miles…
Buick sells in China and contributes to GM's profits. Pontiac had declining sales for years. People lamenting its demise probably bought Toyota Honda KIA and Hyundai vehicles and then moan and groan about GM discontinuing a money-losing division. If there was so much love for Pontiac people would have kept buying them and there would be 2024 models available.
I've mostly seen older people driving these, particularly women. My wife likes her SUV. because she is up higher for visibility. I am suspicious of mass turbo reliability, though. The commuter comfort is probably the key to it. Simplicity would be a top feature for older drivers, so that dash is pretty Ok for their customer base. My elderly aunts loved their LeSabre sedan and its accelerator never got a close look at the carpet, so this is likely a good car for the market.
I said the same regarding the demographic of who buy these. One of our neighbors is a widowed senior who had a 2016 Encore and loved it until she was involved an accident. She now has a 2022 Envision and loves it. I see tons of women and seniors driving these.
Is this guy kidding the precious Encore was not a bad car but mo where near the class and beautiful vehicle this is. Also, he fails to not the stereo buttns behind the stereo. I do not like this persons reviews, stale the same and does.not mention everything on the vehicles he reviews. Simply my opinion.
Got our daughter the ST model last year. There’s a turbo issue in these that’s been a recall, but continues to be a problem for lots of people. When you loose power because of turbo issues that’s incredibly unsafe and a huge liability! Buick needs to fix this!!
Looks exactly like a Hyundai Kona. Buick just needs to be dropped in the US. The Buick I grew up with in GM is nothing at all close to even resembling what that brand used to be. Neither is Cadillac for that matter but Cadillac is selling better. GM just needs to be Cadillac at high end, Chevrolet at low end, drop Buick. What's stopping this is Buick is a cash cow in China.
They didn't need a economy Buick. And why would I need shifters on a cat with 3 cylinders that can only our run a reg Corolla and Rav4. They should've made the Envista with AWD and hella variations starting from 25 and up to 40 and scrapted this and the Chevy Equinox
@@rightlanehog3151 I didn’t say shxt about South Korea, dummy. Y’all think because a vehicle isn’t built in the USA it is no longer American. Go read a book. Majority of your property was _also_ manufactured in another country, I suppose that makes *you* a foreigner too. 🤡
@@rightlanehog3151 Also, Americans do not support or have the same respect for the Buick brand as Korea and China. So Americans don’t have a say so on what happens with the brand, because we’re no longer their #1 customer. Y’all rather buy those cheaply built Toyotas full of plastic and decade old tech instead, despite the fact they use the same exact supplies as Buick for many things you will promote toyota as if your lives depend on it and then have the audacity to make comments about where Buick decides to build factories. Stay in your lane. This is a business, keep your emotions at the house. *gm* honestly couldn’t care less. Even the Japanese (Honda) have realized the value in General Motors, I wouldn’t be surprised if the “patriotic Americans” were the very last to wake up. 🤦🏽♂️
eh not my cup of tea type of car it have way too much cheap material for me ya know. might be good for other folks. but I would've gotten something bigger and faster ya know.
Looks like CRAP!....The only one I'd love to own is the Avenir Model, I think you get a 2.0T, it's quite handsome, saw one in the showroom, entirely different class than the other buggers.
