What are you listening to when you watch Maher? Cuz he certainly isn’t “tearing the left a new one”. He mildly questions the most radical leftists while haranguing anyone and everyone with even modestly conservative values.
We are all a product of our age and as long as we are moving towards understanding and tolerence of others, great... But I'll never be able to think like a 15 year old of today....
Krackonis...it is because our BRAIN have grown, developed. 15 yr olds???? Not so much...as was Our 15 yr old brain compared to the adults of our time...envy the vitality though😂😂😂😂
Even though I don’t always agree with Maher, it’s always been his trademark to make us think about what we have been thinking. And so he should get the Cojones award for doing that without really caring what we think.
At the end of the day, Maher is a foot soldier for the Democratic party. He simply cannot disconnect. But he is the only Liberal who I respect. And not because I agree with his views.
You don't respect Bernie Sanders? Almost every Conservative I've ever heard talk about him says he's an honest man who cares about people, they just think he's horribly mistaken.
@@ThorneWorthington nah, he's not a foot soldier. you should read comments on liberal RU-vid channels about him. He's a true free spirit. and i do'nt agree with him on a lot of stuff. but he makes it ok to have different opinions, without hating another person for it
More like 80%, the last part about JK Rowling was bullshit. Being bigoted is still nothing to be celebrated. I'm not calling for the Harry Potter books to be removed from shelves, but celebrating her for intimating that transgender people are #notourcrimes, meaning they are less than "normal" is still wrong. Did he really say "women don't torture cats"? I didn't know cat torture happened only along gender lines.
Well, the score here was 4:1, correct 😉 It absolutely exists on the left and right, but is significantly more pronounced on the left. The right excels more in manufacturing facts from beliefs 😇
@@basonj Yes, gross generalizations. Here's a story from 2023 from GlobalNews: "A Calgary woman who brutally tortured nine cats, killing seven of them, has received a six-and-a-half year sentence. Aleeta Raugust’s sentence sets a benchmark for the longest animal abuse sentence in Canadian history, eclipsing the previous mark of three years."
@@sydysydy He hits multiple hoaxes per show. Every show for 3 years included at least one outburst claiming that ‘Trump won’t leave the WH if he loses.’ He actually still brings it up as an ‘I told you so.’
Nice to see the Cojones Awards are sticking around. I could not give less of a fuck about the Oscars, the Emmys, the Tonys, The Grammys, or the VMAs, but I will watch the next 30 years of the Cojones if they continue to give them out.
The only way this skit can become immortalized in history if Hollywood would make this an official award show and give the first life time achievement award to Bill! Mr. Maher you truly deserve to get it first!! 🥇😁👍
Love this segment! Recognize people for their courage. But if we’re being real, “balls” are like the least tough anatomical part 😂 (Unless we’re celebrating sensitivity and the ability to display emotion. 😂)
J. K. Rowling definitely deserves this award. She is a non-apologetic badass and has been totally right about exposing all the politically correct nonsense of some pseudo progressive extremes regarding some completely outrageous transgender attitudes!
All I ever heard her say was that she was proud of her accomplishments as a woman. She has been supportive of LGBTQ otherwise. It's kinda like the same BS Dave Chappelle controversy. I'm gay and watched his special and didn't see anything malicious about it and thought that whole section was actually supportive. It's ultra-sensitive types getting worked up over nothing because they LIVE to find things to be upset about. And off-color/bad taste jokes aren't inherently malicious. And others shouldn't simply be falling-in-line to the fake outrage out of worry they might get attacked too.
Bill did it again. He stood up for the underdog of our time; women. Thank you Bill for speaking sense to the senseless regarding the gynophobia over JK Rawling. I never thought I’d see the day when women can’t have an opinion about our rights. You got some cojones Bill, now give some to your cohorts.
you're kidding right? I can't speak about my rights on social media and the radical democrats passed laws to allow males in female prisons ( in blue states) which goes against the U.N. Human rights standards that Nelson Mandela put in place. Biden took Title 9 away: fairness in sports. Rights that were fought for 50 years ago and won. My right to bodily autonomy in females spaces was taken my the democrats. You see how abused JK Rawling is for speaking out about HER rights. Democrats think shutting women up is "progressive." If women can't express their opinion about their rights who can? Who has the privilege? Yes the underdog! What Bill did was very brave. The authoritarian democrats don't like it when their sheep veer from their narrative.@@vlastelinprislic286
Haha--that works too. It was the beefy chops/sideburns on that one white-haired dude with the big plastic glasses (and the cut/style of his suit) that somehow just specifically screamed "Britain" at me. :) @@davegreenlaw5654
Polarization IS working, because the goal of such laws isn't to convince others to join your side, but to virtue signal, pander and rank up among your own side. These people only ever cared about their own gain.
Saying I don’t like this politician and do like this other one isn’t polarization. It’s when you say “I hate this politician and ALSO hate anyone who even thinks of not hating him, too.”
I love the Cojones Awards! Please make a whole episode of it and invite the recipients to the show 😊It would be great! Also, write a book about the Audacity of Nope 😂❤ Thank you 😊
4:09 that ban also forbade buying products from companies headquartered in those states. This led to even higher prices for products and services in the state. Causing the state to spend millions of dollars more than if they had been able to shop for cheaper goods. Millions of dollars of Taxpayers’ money. Local businesses were able to raise their prices to outlandish levels knowing they couldn’t be under bid. It also caused costly delays because the companies they could deal with were unable to meet the demand. This caused gaps in service to needy people because the cupboards were bare.
Dell, Exxon Mobil, Valero, American Airlines, TESLA (Elon Musk) for Christ's sake, are all companies from where???? Texas. You remember those being banned, cuz the eyes in MY head are looking across the street from my porch in California at three of those. I sure don't remember them being banned🤦♂️ Wherever you got your "facts" you should burn it, stop drinking the kool aid, get out of the cult, and use that homegrown computer in that melon of head called a brain.
We need more of this. A little less woke from the left and a lot less racist and crazy from the right. Everyone come back a little closer to the center and just enjoy life again. So much of the things we constantly bicker about is so petty. Life's too short. Let's focus on what we have in common. We're better than what we've become.
To the Democrats/left anyone who isnt them is a racist/bigot/homophobe/misogynist. US media is more like Russian or Chinese media, controlled by the government.
@lucashouse9117 We’re already a centrist country, but our media won’t tell us that. We’re not becoming a communist country and we are not defunding the police. If the media didn’t talk about bickering, then people wouldn’t watch it.
From your first Cojones Awards (which I LOVED) I thought that JK Rowling should be given the best cojones one... You can't imagine how excited and surprised I was when you gave it to her in this second edition!!! Kudos to you Bill!!!
Bill’s graphics presentations are always hilarious. Since La La Land was accidentally announced as. best picture, big fan favorite. People started to not care. I noticed HBO or Bill Maher are down from posting about 4 clips an episode down to only 2. New Rules was awesome
Let us not forget that even though there was a massive campaign to protest the new Harry Potter game last year, it sold massive amount of units - because the opinions of teenagers are irrelevant.
Some of them still mad and make a fuss about it. They are the most thin skinned losers id even seen, anywhere. Frankly, if they cannot handle any comments or jokes or insults, and they wanna bully their way into the spotlight all the damn time, they are not capable of handling the attention!
The trans identified men are like kamikaze pilots when confronted with sanity, but they've met their match with J.K. Rowling. She gives zero f's. Love her.
I have an early nomination for next year's awards. Bobby Weaver of Pottsville PA, the owner of Black Rock Brewery, a local bewpub. The brewery suffered a fire in May 2023, which caused the building to be condemned by the city until 67 code violations were addressed and the building re-inspected. He has addressed the violations and had a private inspector come in to verify the place was code compliant. He has been requesting an official inspection by the city for months, and the building is less than 100 yards from City Hall, but no inspection. So, in full compliance with PA law, he decided to open up the grounds (not the building) for an event offering free beer. The city has raised holy hell, initially claiming they would stop the event from happening but Bobby has stood firm. The latest is that they're going to show up and cite him for some bullshit, but allow the event to take place. I spoke with him yesterday as he was overseeing some construction for the event, and he's going to see this through and officially reopen. Tonight is the night of the free beer event.
The original Cojones episode was one of my fav New Rules. Glad he made a part 2! Thanks for calling out all the madness on the extremes of both sides. Ill be waiting for a part 3 next year
Since you ask nicely I will tell you my opinion - of course I can't speak for MS. Rowling. The body is set at birth for most people (not gonna talk about hermaphrodites) and their formative years are them growing as one sex or the other. Changing sex young means you must DECEIVE other people by dressing as the other sex. Deceit is never appreciated. If I had a girlfriend who suddenly told me she was going male that puts everything I believed about our friendship is a lie. And yes, I would be angry and weirded out.The deceit of the thing is the entire issue for me. And those who have the change but still look obviously their original sex, well what do you expect of human beings in reaction to that?@@John-kx9vq
@@John-kx9vq i know it is screaming into the void but what about reality offends you so much. Feminist don’t wants trans women to go away, we want to recognize them for what they are, trans, not the same as biological women.
There's just too many different feminists for anyone to give a single answer to your question. I do think that the LGB community and the T community stand for different things though, and should not be grouped together: one group wants to say that if your a man then you're allowed to be with another man and if you're a woman you're allowed to be with another woman. The other group wants 95% of the world's population to change their definitions for the word "man" and "woman".
I have no problem with gay. Most people know they are gay before puberty. Kids don't really know anything about sex until puberty so I find the trans thing apalling before that age. But gay is fine - some people are just born gay. I agree with you that some people want friends who are trans accepted and so want to force everyone to accept them as well. That is not ever going to happen. I think that the majority do accept gay people - I hope so anyway. @@doko3000
I’m 100% behind testing (& I wasn’t always a high scorer), and I could care less about the culture issues. Math is math in both poor & rich neighborhoods.
People with money paid for classes to teach them how to pass the test… the s.a.t… is not an indicator and whether someone would be good at college. Pass grades are a better metric.
@@togthercamealex24 year teacher here. Too much differentiation throughout the nation on what a grade means and too much grade inflation. More anyone with the internet can find free SAT test prep. Finally, money can also buy tutoring for better grades...
Rowling is an interesting one because while Bill is generally right on the details, she has basically turned into a Twitter troll and acts like an asshole for no reason.
@@Donillinithis. She fuels her own hate. Like chapelle and Gervais, it's like she deliberately targets trans community to then claim she's the victim and fuel more negativity. She has got used to being a public martyr for transphobia and is craving the attention.
@@Donillinigood. She’s completely right about this and the other side have been trying to get people cancelled for much less for years, I hope she keeps going on this.
Trying to get an individual fired or silenced for having a different opinion than you *IS* cancel culture, but factoring moral and cultural alignment into which products you choose to buy and which companies you choose to support or oppose is *NOT* cancel culture.
What I appreciate about this very intelligent man, is he always picks the side of common sense! Imagine living in a world where the politicians of this planet, you know the ones we vote for to take care of us, made decisions and passed laws for our well-being based on ‘common sense’ and not self-serving agendas, greed and narcissistic tendencies! 🤙🏼
To be clear, the issue with bud light is thier support of the erosion of women's rights. That's isn't a minor thing especially to those of us with daughters.
@stevenesbitt3528 How is Bud Light against womens rights? There’s more women than men in the United States. They want as many women as possible buying their product so that they make as much money as possible.
No, but the response should be to encourage consumers not to buy it, not to try to pressure a bar owner to remove it as an option. Liberals and trans individuals should be welcome in the bar too, and have a free choice of which popular beer to order.
