On Sunday, September 15th, Steam Incorporated ran the annual Daffodil Express from Wellington to Carterton and return. Hauled by Ja1271, this train was run in conjunction with the Carterton Daffodil Festival which is held every September. This festival attracts around 10,000 people every year, and acts a fundraiser for Wellington Free Ambulance.
We follow the train first from Paekakariki to Wellington, running as a relocation run in preparation from the trip. We then follow the excursion north from Wellington, with shots in Wellington, Lower Hutt, Manor Park and Maymorn. Later in the day we pick the southbound train back up at Heretaunga, first seeing the light DAs and then the excursion. We then get shots in Ava and Petone before following the final run, the relocation run back to Paekakariki, with shots at Takapu Road, Plimmerton and outside Paekakariki.
