Crazy how a lot of these games sell like hot cakes on the Switch today, and ppl dont even realize they were PS Vita releases over 8 years earlier. Just goes to show how much of a punch and quality this fantastic console really had.
Thank you for not wasting my time with a lot of video fluff. You posted the list, a little bit of gameplay, and moved on. I *love* content producers who respect my time this way. Very happy with the list, too. Got a few more games I know I need to track down now to add to my collection. Appreciate everything you do.
I recently picked up a second hand vita and even though it has scratches and dings i still really like it! Sad how Sony didnt even try to kepp this handheld alive...
Been a solid PSP guy for almost half a decade. I've recently acquired a second hand Vita not so long ago. I also share your sentiments with the best handheld console of all time. It was truly a shame that it got killed by its own creator.
Nintendo doing bad in home consoles that time and great in handheld with 3DS. Sony was opposite with their systems doing great with PS4 and not with Vita
I own both of them and tbh, I can see why they’re considered “failures”. Compared to their predecessors, they’re not impressive one bit. While technically they’re better, subjectively they both lack in terms of innovation and direction.
I never got much mileage out of either console, barring KH:BbS and P4G, but I'm grateful there are lists out there like this in case I ever feel like exploring the library
@@futbolproactive3059 yes and you need to do it now! It’s absolutely an amazing consoles when modded. I also suggest getting a 3ds, ps3, Wii U. All amazing when modded.
I love how this list actually shows some gameplay footage and a brief description of what it is and why it would earn it's ranking. Many other lists leave out that stuff and make it harder to be convinced if a game is in your wheelhouse.
You have been writing books about the Vita even though the system is dead? Love it. Love it that there are so many people that still love this system like I do.
My favorite vita games by far are 1 Gravity Rush: Highly recommended 2 Tales of Hearts R: Solid combat with classic rpg story telling 3 Freedom Wars: Nice MH like game on Handheld also have pvp too 4 Digimon Series: Great monster raising game nuff said 5 YS Series: Great fast pace Action rpg 6 Neptunia Series: Dont be fooled by its art style the humor in this series is golden the more you know about the gaming industry the more you get out if 7 Senran Kagura: Great fast pace action game with a huge roster
@Pickled Kong the rebirth trilogy is the best way to get into neptunia. Rebirth 1 will give you enough idea of what you're getting into before getting deeper into the series
I appreciated how you distinguished your own opinion from what the votes tallied up to. Great way to effectively give the viewer two lists to choose from.
Vita and wii u having so many amazing games that people hype for rereleases on other platforms show that they were fantastic platforms that were overlooked
@@EliseoTorres-Morales I don't think there's much difference between the models. I also think the method to jailbreak both is the same (not sure). I would just pick one that seems to be in good condition if i was in your shoes, since it is hard to find brand new ones.
@@EliseoTorres-Morales It all comes down to preference. Vita 1000 has the nicer display due to it being OLED and I find it more durable overall, but it has zero built in memory forcing you to buy a memory unit for it if the Vita you buy doesn't include one, Vita 2000 on the other hand has some bad color inaccuracies and isn't as durable, but has better buttons and built in memory. Either way you'd need a SD2Vita to mod them effectively unless you're willing to shell out 200$ or more for a 128gb memory unit. Personally with all that in mind, I prefer the 1000.
WHERE ARE THE GOD OF WAR GAMES?!?!? Seriusly i am getting sick of the same reviers talking about the same games "uhhhhuhuh child game good uhhhhu" I AM GONA SHOW YOU WHAT IS A REAL MAN GAME PUT GOD OF WAR 1 AND 2 TO PLAY AND KILL ALL THE GODS THAT IS A GOOD GAME
Personally the best games on Vita Great story, great voice acting, simple but addictive gameplay, complex and hard builds (for hunting games fans), amazing art. I truly want a continuation oe just a simple port for bigger console, hell this game on Switch will work I'm still regretting that I didn't purchase vita Souls Sacrifice Bundle back in the day.
Maybe not just a genre but a theme, like, let's say top 10 cyberpunk Vita games..? It could be interesting with upcomming Sense and recent Need a packet
Top 5 or 10 for each Genre would be fun to see. Not sure if we would have enough people that played them to vote but a Vita Community vote video plus your own top 5/10 would be a fun watch.
The only problem with this list is that it stops at 25, there are plenty of games depending on what genres you like that can add to it. Fighters like, DoA 5, Street Fighter X Tekken, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, DragonBall Z: Battle of Z action platformers : Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends plus the plethora of indi titles on it...
If you are "discovering" the Vita now; get ready to "discover" how expensive some of these titles are now. 😅 The Vita was waaaaay ahead of it's time. Unfortunately, incompetency in Sony America mis-management killed it before it began in the States. Thank goodness Sony Japan never gave up on it and ADVERTISED the Vita as a GAME CONSOLE rather than a ps3/ps4 add-on peripheral. Right Sony America? Still tickles me when kiddos geek out about a game on the Switch that kicked arse YEARS PRIOR on the Vita.
Ikr sony just dont care, back when vita had their own web game called "destiny of spirit" its super popular among vita user but getting shutdown for no reason by sony Thanks to henkaku its made my vita keep alive
The Vita was killed by console & mainly memory card prices with a misunderstanding of western market. You had to buy a memory card on the original model, so at launch a WiFi vita was around 250$ & 3G vita 300$ + 30$ for a small 4gb card (just don't look at other sizes) In the west Kids are the main portable gamer (it's reverse in Japan) so with that price it failed in the age of cheap mobile gaming (even the 3ds failed until low quality games saturated the mobile market) The psTV/vitaTV was a genius move that Sony blundered hard. The Vita&psTv combo was the switch before the switch!
A great selection of games :) some of my recommendations outside of this 25 are World of Final Fantasy, Rayman Origins/Legends, Digimon Cybersleuth, Danganronpa V3, 10 Second Ninja and the Persona 3/4/5 dancing games.
A series that’s never mentioned but is fantastic especially on vita is toukiden both the original and 2 are so much fun and are perfectly suited to the vita if you like monster hunter/musou games there definitely worth buying.
I loved watching this kind of content, even though some my favorite games did'nt make out on the list. But I find many hidden gems suggested by the fans on the comment.
Great list of games! I was hoping Unit 13 would get some votes to crack the top 25. Too bad it gets overlooked most of the time. If I’m not mistaken, it’s a Vita exclusive also so bonus points for that!
I loved Unit 13. I think it’s a better game than uncharted. Don’t get me wrong, I love uncharted. But Unit 13’s gameplay was so much fun, the levels are varied and there’s no messing around with puzzles - it’s all action!
I just got my copy of your three books + Vita Zine in the post this morning - they look great! I'll start reading as soon as I get back from Tenet this afternoon. :)
@@2old4gaming The action scenes were good, but it was very hard to hear a lot of the dialogue due to poor audio mixing, and therefore quite hard to follow the story. I'll need to watch it again at home when it comes out.
Love my Vita and glad to own many of these games except Uncharted. You’ll find it on eBay, CIB :). The vanillaware games, y’s games, PS4 Golden, so many great games. PS Vita forever!
I thought Gravity Rish was a short game, when i finished it. But I later realized, that I'd actually played that game for a whole week. The unique gravity mechanics made the game so engaging, that I'd lost track of time, without realizing how many hours I'd put in the game!
@@2old4gaming True If it helps, you didn't really miss out on anything great. The only DLC I really loved was Military missions pack. The Spy and Maid DLCs looked more like an after thought than a real effort.
Some of my top games in no order Mortal Kombat UMVC3 Persona 4 Golden Killzone Mercenary Playstation All Stars Muramasa Rebirth Injustice Street Fighter X Tekken Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere Wipeout 2048 Axiom Verge Death Mark and Danganronpa 1
i have ps4 and pc. but still playing on the go is a different story. playing YS8 and SAO Hallow realization on the go and add Uncharted and Need for speed most wanted. deyum! this is my favourite gaming console so far.
Yeah it’s awesome and plays really well on the Vita. I think because it’s so expensive and it’s never been on sale not many people have probably played it
yes attack on titan is one of the best games. people will gonna complain about tbe FPS Drop. but how about gubdam breaker break edition and sword art online hallow realization and borderlands 2. the framerate so awful. but it's my favourite games of all time. i spend 320hours on GB3 and 80hours on my SAO HR. Long live PSVITA.
Cant believe Mortal Kombat and God of War collection weren' here. Ninja gainden sigma plus, Dead or alive 5 plus, Injustice, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street fighter vs Tekken, Ratchet & Clank full frontal assault, resident evil revelations 2, Gravity Rush, Call of Duty black ops declassified, Resistance burning skies, Assassins creed 3 liberation, Sly collection, Jak and Daxter collection, Minecraft, WRC 4, FIFA 15... I must be forgetting a few more
Great list. So many amazing games on here that just didn't get the exposure they deserve. I would love to see them reissued digitally on future Playstation consoles. Shame that so many use the trackpads that lock them in to the Vita.
Yeah that will be a problem. If Sony ever made a handheld again they won’t put the back touch and cameras which would mean some Vita games couldn’t be played
Trails of Cold Steel was ROBBED from top spot I tell you!!! XD but really tough ToCS and Ys VIII would be next to 1st. Just tells me that I need to propagate the Nihon Falcom further still 😂
2 old 4 gaming Ys VIII had a small print run didn’t it? Probably didn’t help as people tend to prefer physical for Vita as you know. I didn’t manage to get a copy but was able to snag the PS4 version cheap. Great game!
I don’t find cmt with list games of video, so i make this for someone who just want to search name 1, Persona 4 Golden 2, Gravity Rush 3, Uncharted Golden Abyss 4, Killzone Mercenaries 5, Tearaway 6, Muramasa Rebirth 7, Freedom Wars 8, Soul Sacrifice & Soul Sacrifice Delta 9, Danganronpa 10, Dragon’s Crown 11, Wipeout 2048 12, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir 13, Hotline Miami 14, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection 15, NFS Most Wanted 16, Final Fantasy X 17, Danganronpa 2 18, Little Big Planet 19, Guacamelee 20, Child of Light 21, TLOH: Trail of Cold Steel 22, Dragon Quest Builder 23, Ys Memories of Celceta 24, Severed My recommended game 1, All pre/sequel games on the previous list, like Trail of Cold Steel 2, Hotline Miami 2,... 2, TLOH: Trail in the Sky Trilogy and TLOH Zero no Kiseki 3, God Eater 4, Stardew Valley 5, Helldiver 6, Tokyo Xanadu 7, Persona 3/ Persona 5 Dancing
Do you now why on a homebrew ps tv psp games always crash after about 10 mins of gaming even the games I've brought from the ps store crash. But the ps vita games work fine.
Ys VIII Is the best experience I've had with the Vita . It really plays well on a handheld and the graphics for the time were excellent. It's funny that people bash on the system comparing the Switch to it. An 11 year old system sure gets Nintendo fan boys all worked up. Sony was way ahead of Nintendo in the handheld market design. If they only would have supported their own system we would be talking about the Vitas successor right now. I'll never understand why it was scrapped and neglected by its own creators?
I just didn't expect PSN sales to die off so quickly. Still have a few of these in my wishlist. Some of those newer games only went on sale once, twice or never. Now it's just the same few revolving indie games. Also, if Danganronpa looks good, you don't have them and you want them off PSN; they're getting delisted soon. Spike Chunsoft is taking over publishing and I doubt they'll put the Vita versions back on the store.
I'm not as big on Tearaway either but I had to vote for it since it's the only game that truly used every single feature of the Vita so in that sense it was a must. Still kind of shocked that Mortal Kombat didn't make the list though. LOL
@@2old4gaming I love DOA and have been playing it since the Dreamcast but I thought it was just a direct port and that the plus just ment way harder then the console version. The reason why I thought Mortal Kombat deserved a little higher ranking than DOA was because of the extra feature of fruit ninja they added in exclusively for the Vita.
Props to my fellow Vita fans for some excellent pics! I missed out on this round of voting, but my own personal top 25 would have included a higher percentage of fighting games (Marvel vs. Capcom, DOA, Injustice, Dengeki Bunko, etc.) and non-indie 2D platformers (Shantae and the Rayman games especially). Still, I wouldn't quibble with any of the games that made the top 25. They're all pretty undeniably great.
@@2old4gaming Yes, I enjoyed it quite a lot. It's a pretty simple fighting game, but a good one. Plus, if you watch or know any of the shows the characters derive from, their interactions with one another are funny and spot-on.
The Vita had some awesome games. The hardware is quite powerful. Sony hasn’t supported the Vita very much, and they tried to discontinue the Store, but after a large outrage, Sony reversed their decision and left it up.
I own every game on this list. I have 23/25 physically. I have to go find severed and hotline Miami physically. Great list. Vita is amazing. I have around 300 physical games.
Nice! I haven’t got hotline Miami either. I was out off because it didn’t have hotline Miami 2 on the cart but now I regret not buying it when it was cheaper
I'm getting 2 PS Vitas in a few days. I know they're closing the stores so why not mod & get games for free lol Do they really expect me to pay for games after they kill such a great handheld console? Yes. Will I? Nope. Maybe cheap buys on eBay now and then. One will be a modded vita and the other will be used as normal mostly for remote play & tied to my psn account.
@@itscass9153 still awesome. I was able to get a Japanese orange version new in box about 2 years ago and it’s just now that I’m using it. Man this little portable was awesome for its time. Too bad Sony killed it way too early.
I would love to see you do another community list in the future. I missed out on the last vote and I feel like there are a lot more fans of your channel now following the release of your book. We could have some interesting added perspective. I’d love to see how the list would look if fans ranked their top 10 vita games
The top 10 itself I have 7 of them physical which makes me happy :D Some games I would have loved to have seen make the list (though one needs importing) in no particular order: Virtues Last Reward, Zero Time Dilemma, Gundam Breaker 3 and Criminal Girls 2 (Yes we know why some would be interested in the content but I found the actual gameplay/battle system refreshing)
Hope half way wasn’t like the first couple hours, once Persona gets it hook in you it’s intense. I literally played it for 20 hours straight on vacation
That’s OK Steven. It took me a few months to finish it because I stopped every 25 hours. I recommend going back to it because the story is great and it does suck you in. I found the battling and dungeons less interesting than the plot
Interesting no fighting game got to the top 25. Mortal Kombat (9) Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Dead or Alive 5+ SF vs Tekken Samurai Showdown V Special For all who might wonder about the genre. Play those
Yeah that’s a really solid game. Have you played Shiren the Wanderer? The gameplay systems are similar but you progress through maze like floors in a tower. It’s a brilliant game. I really recommend it
Great list - I was very glad to see Gravity Rush make it to the top - it was horribly panned when it was released - something I thought was very unfair at the time. Of course, I was sad to see the omission of Sly Cooper and Touch My Katamari - but I realize that those games may not be everyone's favourites :)
I totally agree. Reading review of GR, I think it was unfairly penalised at times. It was such a unique game with an interesting setting and likeable characters.
Best ps vita games 1. Gravity rush 2. Uncharted : golden abyss 3. Sly Cooper 4 : thieves in time 4. Batman Arkham origins : black gate 5. Persona 4 : golden 6. Street fighter cross( x ) tekken 7. Killzone : mercenary 8. Ys : memories of celeta 9. Fate extello : the umbrella star 10. Wipe out : 2048 11. The walking dead season 1 12. Unit 13 13. Dugeon hunter : alliance 14. Mortal kombat 15. Metal gear solid. HD remastered. Games of metal gear solid 2 &3 16. Sonic all stars racing transformed 17. Resistance : burning skies 18. Trillion 19. The Wolf among us 20. PlayStation. Had a og psp3000 back in 2010. While looking for one for my 3 year old daughter on marketplace I stumbled across a vita 1000 for around 40usd. Had to get it. Games are notoriously hard to come by in south Africa so I'm looking to jb it
Man... The story of the Vita is a sad one... A story of how Sony killed their child... But if u can get a hacked one, the Vita is literally the best for emulating all kinds of Consoles. Thereby being the best Handheld by default.
1 Killzone Mercenary 2 Tearaway 3 Uncharted Golden Abyss 4 Wipeout 2048 5 God Of War collection 6 Virtua Tennis. My top 6 and i still play my vita daily 🎮💜
@@2old4gaming Dead Nation + Flower + Lunimes + Habroxia + Sonic allstar racing + Monkey ball + Injustice + Modnation racers + pinball FX , I play the games on vita aswel 🎮
I've been playing sword art online Hallow realization for a couple days now. But the fps drop is meh to me. The game is so addictive and beutifully port. If you don't mind the fps drop and delay in combat I'm pretty sure you will enjoy the game. It's an open world with MMORPG feel to it. Playing SAO games on the go is mindblowing.
I just don't get why they didnt jump on the "classics" craze to launch a PSTV/Vita packaged with a bunch or classic PS1 and maybe even PSP games. Would have given users access to the PSN Store to purchase any games they felt the collection missed out on. Instead they released a fairly underwhelming and deeply limited classic console at a fairly high price point.
I think the price of the PSTV wasn’t bad. People were quite happy with the price when it was announced but Sony messed it up by requiring Vita memory cards, not putting a decent amount of already onboard storage and not having it compatible with some games. I agree though, it should have been marketed as a fun system to appeal to fans of classic PlayStation games.
@@2old4gaming Yeah the proprietary memory was an awful choice, might as well had sold internal memory only lol. Ultimately, sony also failed to market the thing or understand who the thing appealed to. They tried several times to capture the monster hunter hype, which is admirable, but the rest of their efforts felt like an attempt to simply make it an alternative to a console experience, instead of an experience that complemented their console. For the most part, they had no good answer to the experience the 3DS had, or that the switch would end up offering. Instead, it felt like a slightly limited ps2-ps3 experience on a smaller screen, with smaller storage space, and less powerful hardware.
