bill has to have some sort of autism or be on the spectrum just for how much he loves making up awards and drafts😭😭 but damnit imma watch every single time especially with rusillo😂😂
i was hoping for a "worst content creation decision" award, with Bill winning for crushing his beef with Doc to get him on the pod, only for Doc to get re-hired and coach even worse than during the peak of Bill-Doc beef
Not picking doc rivers for worst coach of the year instead of adrian griffin who was 30-13 before doc took over really tells u how biased bill is since he had doc on the pod all those times.
Griffin had the easiest schudle in the League and needed cltuch game after clutch game. Rivers is equally bad and I dont like him at all and is overrated and awful. But Griffin is a clown too (he fights a better coach that was there to assists him first week of training camp?)
Yesterday, Perk literally said on national tv “Miami could shoot 100% from the field and 100% from 3, AND STILL GET SWEPT!” Perk deserves some sort of “learning disabled children can succeed in lamestream media” award or some such other monstrosity. His confidence in displaying his IQ being in the 80’s was incredible. And we’re all so done with the 80’s !
Honestly, seeing Bill fucking die from laughter at 1:13:10 is one of the great Simmons Podcast moments ive ever seen. The air just escaped his body immediately after processing Amir Coffey. A Russillo classic
@untexan That is an awesome call lol. Such a similarly hilarious reaction to Ryen being a goat. What's great about this one is he seemed so caught off guard it's like Bill got punched in the gut 🤣
I was a big “Bulls should draft Dante Exum” guy before the draft. His re-emergence this year WITH A HIGH EFFICIENCY 3PT SHOT has really given me some undeserved barber shop ammunition.
@@watchingmedia101 I thought the Spotify deal kept him from uploading full eps too, but he's been uploading full length Rewatchables eps for a while now. Maybe uploading full eps messes up with Spotify's listenership so he opts not to do it?
I never listen to long podcasts , BUT now i will listen to these - as an avid nba fan & gambler this is such nerdy, analytical, unique, insider info , thru the prisms of true fans of professional basketball' players, culture, variance of teams organizations w/ logical & confident yet humble deductive reasoning backed by exceptional critical thinking skills - and im here for all if it - extremely knowledgeable & underatedly great info betting on teams , totals & player props - great stuff and i just had to consume the entire vid- tap the veins im def hooked - looking forward to using their insight to bet these playoffs - much appreciated
@@AdamHammond- You're not counting the impressive and real 43-0 Doc Rivers believes he would have gone to start the season. Unfortunately he was doing the Bill Simmons Podcast instead
i never comment on youtube videos, but i love this podcast... Bill & Ryen are great together... i love Ryen's podcast as well... always great content that i enjoy listening to time & time again
Can't take anyone seriously who still doesn't think pop was tanking on purpose 🙄 .. that franchise mastered the art of tanking over the last 30 years...😂 this was a multi year tank in the works out in the open for 2 years before wemby to maximize these assets.. he was playing a pf as a first-time pg 😂 get with the program bill... you sound ridiculous af 😂
A lot of the difference in W-L is the schedule and some *insane* shooting luck in December. Plus their offense was being propped up by Dame's FT and that went away when they started calling the games differently Griffin was doing stuff -- having Brook play up to touch, putting two on the ball, running Dame-Brook PnR over Dane-Giannis -- that, while kind of understandable, had zero buy in from his players Doc mostly runs a defensive system that makes sense and there are clear rules and his offense is designed around running actions his best players are comfortable with. It's not great coaching but just saying they were 30-13 then went 17-19 therefore Doc is a bad coach is overlooking a lot of context outside the coach's control
@@michaelahurt in April the bucks lost to the WIZARDS, GRIZZLIES & RAPTORS in back to back to back games. I’m not accepting strength of schedule as an excuse.
That said, I appreciate there are nuances to the argument and it’s not as simple as just looking at the record. But the results and some of the performances (warriors, kings & heat games in particular) are so unacceptable
he could have told the Hornets to draft Scoot who was #2 overall by a long shot in a lot of people's eyes so yes, for the first time, MJ *crushed* a draft pick selection
Can we talk about how a basketball superconference makes more sense than anything? There are far more basketball only schools, guaranteeing matchups yearly probably increases revenue, and giving some of these smaller programs a boost in funding would increase their ability to recruit improving the on court product
Bill has said Marcus Smart is the heart and soul of the Celtics. Bad take of the decade so far could be Bill proclaiming Ayton is a top 15 player in the NBA during the bubble season.
Copper Flagg won’t be immune from their criticism because he’s American. There seems to be an even broader and more obvious reason why people like Arenas and Perkins don’t like certain guys.
Still don't care about the in season tournament. The Celtics prioritized getting KP some early season rest over a shot at the winning the tourney and that should tell you how much the in season trophy is really worth. It's worth nothing.
I'm with you. A plus was yes, many teams and players amped up the intensity. The downer was it wasn't particularly suspenseful, like the playoffs. Meh. And behind that was a league rolling in cash is trying to create more revenue. Again, meh.
Wait, cause the Celtics didnt care, the tournament doesnt matter when the Celtics are the only team trying to win every night for as many points they can like a young team they actually arent?
Wait, cause the Celtics didnt care, the tournament doesnt matter? when the Celtics are the only team trying to win every random and meaningles night for as many points like they think point differential would give them the title or somehting?
Payton Pritchard only plays 21 minutes he only got over 20 because of Celtics resting downn the stretch. He has been a huge suprise for the Celtics off the bench and Stevens hit a homerun locking him up on that cheap deal. Sam Hauser with only 21.7 minutes a game too and shooting 43% from 3. Horford, Hauser, Pritchard is a really solid bench when you have the stacked starting 5 they do. Stevens has put on a masterclass.
Why is media hyping up Edwards sooo fuckin much? Dude is really great and fun to watch , nobody argues that. But like “next face of the league, SUPERSTAR, MVP consideration “ - what? Kyrie literally has better numbers😂and SGA gets almost half a love Ant gets
Replace the in-season final with an all star game that is two all-tournament teams. In-season final counting as an exhibition is weird, having an all star game in December, maybe guys aren't as worried about getting hurt? Prize for winning the in-season tournament all-star game thingy is you get more lenience on missed games, like maybe your number goes from 65 down to 55. The prize money isn't a real motivator for the top end guys, but those top end guys are going to be vying for post-season awards which affect their contract negotiations, so a little bit of help making the quote for all-nba could put some juice in the game
Drop the the All Star Game please. One show, start with the dunk contest, do somehting in the middle (the shooting with the WNBA star, reitred player and present player) and end it with 3 point shooting contests + Caitlin Clark. Thats it.
@@jamesh7469 3 or 4 dunk contestants, no rounds, better judges. Done quickly. Perfect. Even if it is just to complain. All Star game is literally trash the second it starts and complaining about not playing hard is stupid as count the ringz culture (that Jordan fans/marketing media solidified) is too important to risk even a minor injury on an literally meaningless game
OKC will have like $30m+ in cap space, has excess draft picks and their biggest need -- big physical veteran forward with championship experience who can defend, rebound, has the playmaking ability to work in their offense, a vertical threat and/or positive spacer who is good cutter -- read like Lebron's scouting report And if he goes there they become inner circle contenders and he could get ring #5 for team #4
Doing the Elam ending in the all star game with the 24 point ;th quarter target score was smart because it was an artificial way to keep the final score down and make it appear like more d was being played.
Big brain: bron always planned on staying in La no matter what. But bron wanted to make sure his son gets a contract so he announced he “only wants to play w his son.” Isnt that called just being a good dad and making sure jr gets paid?
I wonder if Bronny has accepted he may not have a big NBA career cause of the previous issues. Like if Bronny wants to step away and LeBron wants to retire, and so they are trying to speed-run playing together even if everything about it isn't ideal, atm (like entering draft despite a bad year).
We need an award for doing your worst thing at the worst time of some sort and it needs to go to Reggie Jackson for huckin shots up at the worst time for him to huck up shots.
Gilbert Arenas a month ago said the Knicks don’t have a star player and they should trade Brunson. I would like to nominate that for the Big Perk Award.
How many people learnt from their hatred of the play in and NBA Cup ideas? A lot of those people have then loved it, and I think the play in has undeniably made the last 20 games of the season way better. Traditionalists who want things to stay the exact same with the league calendar just keep getting it wrong
As a nuggets fan I know MPJ passes up more shots than I’d like him to, I would guess his assist rate is low because a lot of times when he doesn’t like a shot he will either pass it back to Jokic or drive to the hoop or a better location to shoot it.
Wemby and Jokic are true unicorns, and Curry would be one had Mahmoud Abdul Rauf never existed. The league did him dirty, and today he would be celebrated. Hypocrisy at it's best.
The All-Star game should be the rising stars but the rising young stars in the NBA + the best rookies vs the veterans of the NBA. If you want great competition you got to invite it & i think some pride will be on the line. Bring back those warm ups with all those patches on it with all the different accomplishments. Not just the present Stars but the past ones as well. Like bring back wearing their actual team jerseys. Take some of these great ideas that worked & bring it back.
Only unfortunate part about these awards is nothing is really new. If you listened to the recent podcasts you knew the winners but this is still the best podcast out there and ive been listening since 2013 at 2am when id devour a 20 puece mcnugget in my car
To this day I still don't understand why people are so angry with him not wanting to get that treatment? Time goes on he looks more and more correct no?
53:23 "I'm just looking forward to it because if they are on the same team and they do play together the next year it will be the first time you've had the country just cheer on nepotism." I love Russillo but this is not cynical enough. Has he looked at prominent politicians? Cheney. Clinton. Rand. Bush (4 freakin times! Prescott, Poppy, W and Jeb). Romney. RFK Jr. And I'm sure I'm missing a ton. BTW what are the Vegas odds Cheney runs for president if Trump goes down in flames? She is better positioned to pick up the reins of disaster than anybody I have ever seen. As smart as her dad was!
