Happy Weds everyone! Big shoutout to our local friend Tory for loaning us his actual truck to review. We're hoping we can get a hold of a Cybertruck later this year to review for the channel so if you know anyone who owns one, send us an email to office@rpmgroup.co. You'll get to meet our host Sofyan and see the whole process on how we film vehicles for the channel! We know the Cyberbeast is even quicker than the Rivian, but in actuality, that quickness is all about bragging rights and nobody is going to complain about a 3 sec 0-60 MPH time in real world conditions!
Have owned the R1T for almost a year now. Best vehicle I've ever owned. You hit on a lot of the positive points. And you didn't even cover its off-road capability, which is very good. This is the most capable, well built, luxurious and performance tuned EV truck made.
I just got hired into rivian and im excited to get my hands on one of these 😄 EDIT:I drove the rivian and it's really quick! I'm in the durability department so I was beating the living hell out of it! Felt wrong but so right
Except the cyber truck can fall 250 feet and still keep your family safe. However we need to stop electric vehicles as they use more energy than should be allowed. One charge can power 100 homes. Just one charge. 😮
We own the R1S Quad motor and absolutely love it as our day-to-day family vehicle. It's been so impressive, it's now made me want to purchase the R1T for myself! I will probably just get the dual motor, possibly performance.. so if I get it this year, you are more than welcome to come review it if you'd like!
I'm an owner of this truck in Forest Green/Green interior. I love your review and how you get tunnel vision every time you put your foot to the floor! I do that all day and never gets old. I agree with you of the quality and how the truck is build considering is the FIRST EV truck from a new company. They improved allot ever since it came out 2 years ago and they keep improving it. To me nothing compares to this truck. Why? Because this is created for us truck guys and not for commercial use like the rest of the trucks. WE don't need the biggest or the loudest to have fun. WE are adventurous people and we need a truck that does everything well on/off the road and is luxurious as is practical. You missed a few practical things like the build in BT speaker in the center console the improved screens that give you all the information you need and then some, etc. Good review over all and yes mine is faster because I have the road 21" tires and more range. The fastest and best truck in the world! Not bad for a new company!?!
I own and run a Pool cleaning and repair company and have put serious thought into buying a Rivian Truck like this one. Just seems like an overall best type of truck I need and it's electric. Gotta love it
You know what, this was the first time when he shut the door and even through my headphones legit sounded awful....now I appreciate you calling out the sounds in your reviews...not like I can. Afford this beaut
Thanks, yes, I enjoyed your 2023/2024 R1T review! ALL these EVs are crazy fast in their own right. The instant torque will always get them off the line faster than their ICE equivalent, with ZERO remorse for enjoying this acceleration, as there are zero emissions. The most enjoyable part of driving (getting off the line) will always bring with it the most fumes emitted by ICE vehicles.
To get the absolute fastest launch you have to be in lowest (which you did!) but also "stability reduced" - this is according to people who have talked to Rivian people who described it as a hidden launch mode. Also, I replaced my AT tires because of said noise! They were getting really annoying so I put on some Continental LT AS tires in the same size. Much smoother and quieter, though I lost a little grip offroad.
Really great seeing you have broken 1M subs not too long ago. It's strange to me you didn't get one to review. How does it work with loan vehicles? I know other journalists have relationships with manufacturers or have local reps, but I'm sure Rivian is very different.
If these were $50,000, they couldn't make enough of them. At the current price, good luck getting anyone to pass up on every other truck on the market. I love that this blends the normal features and steering wheel of a traditional truck but with the touch of some high tech features. This isn't trying to be a Tesla and that's its best feature.
Check out the Rivian subreddit. They’re super popular, but there’s a lot of issue with them. Regardless of the issues, the Rivian sales are up. Meaning people are “passing up every other truck on the market.” You’re just another person rambling on RU-vid without researching.
@@waled121 Check out the subreddit for any new car and you'll see the same thing. I browse that subreddit daily, but haven't bothered to post about mine because I haven't had any issues that needed a post!
It would take at least twice as long for me to finish my expletive laden exclaim of the acceleration than it does to get to 60...with my lead foot I'm going to need a bigger swear jar
Love this car and would like to se it in Sweden some day… perfect spec! And I really hade to say that American cars really have become just as nice if not nicer than some European ”premium” brands. The problem is that we don’t get them.
Unfortunately I don't think it's because American cars have greatly improved, but that Euro brands are using cheaper and cheaper materials and manufacturing
I think about this as a daily vehicle, great for city living and being able to take weekends in the country. Can put bikes and other camping gear in the bed, all your clothes up front and the center tunnel looks great for storing groceries too, if you had two kids and had a full bed of stuff you can still stop and grab the groceries at the store and not crowd the kids
When so many of the new dashes are rather boring, this one isn't too bad...and I give the use of the dark ash wood as a reason for that. I don't have the money for this truck, but do like it.
Wouldn't mind picking this up for sub $30k, fits my lifestyle, can still tow my dual axle trailer, boat, jetski, and haul stuff from the box stores no sweat and quiet.
The cybertruck is a truck for people who have spent more time holding a video game controller than a womans hand but bought bitcoin, and the Rivian is for people who follow 100x more instagram accounts about camping than nights they have spent camping but have a healthy salary. That said, I love the looks of the Rivian but am not sold on the nuances of owning an electric utility vehicle.
It's true that this vehicle is capable of doing way more than most people will ACTUALLY do. That said, now that I have one the best thing nobody talks about is all the time saved NEVER having to waste time going to gas stations or mess around with oil changes etc. Yes, the occasional road trip I will spend more time, but it is amazing starting each day with a full "tank".
@theredline rivianno longer sells the camper kitchen as of 2023. It was a great accessory but they got rid of it. Just a heads up in case you want to make an edit to the video.
@@theredlineunfortunately rivian removed it around October or so as they're redesigning it. There is a 3rd party company that has one that is compatible if people are interested, but original rivian one isn't offered for right now.
The Cybertruck has some really great ideas, especially the 48v architecture. Other features (like the stainless steel body) are more bother than they’re worth. I’m not a fan of the R1T’s goofy face, but it’s brilliantly practical
I love it! It’s very different and nice! Can you review the all electric Mercedes G wagon when it comes out, I can’t drive because of my cerebral palsy, so I’m gonna get my all electric Mercedes g wagon and let other people drive it for me, I’m 34 a gay country guy!!
I think if this truck looked better, it would sell so well. It does everything so well and has such a great interior. If this looked like a tacoma, canyon, or higher end ranger, this would amazing.
How did it perform during the last 3 weeks with the arctic temps we've had in the Northeast? "Some" have complained about the Tesla having charging issues? Your Thoughts? Thx
I am a Rivian owner and know a lot of them in the northeast. All have really enjoyed their vehicles in the snow and cold and have had zero issues. Most of us charge at home as well - and Teslas have zero issues with that as well.
So when you try to use it as a truck, like all electric trucks, your efficiency drops by 75%. You can go from a 300 mile range with no load, to a 75 mile range with an empty boat trailer.
I would love to buy one. My only observation is that I wish the horsepower was lower to maybe 200 and that would be for increased range. The bane of every electric vehicle. I will still probably buy one. I wouldn't even consider the car made by Tesla that they call a truck.
For me, it's still about range and lack of infrastructure. Until there is a significant increase in charging stations nationwide, many of us will not make the jump. Recent reports from around the country indicate almost 30% of public chargers nationwide are not functional on any given day. That's not very reassuring. Luv the look and function of the R1T. Needs more buttons for some of the essentials, but otherwise pretty cool ride. Get that range up to 500 miles or more, and I might take a look 😁
I have some feedback for you: The 0-60 is NOT interesting to most buyers. Do not confuse what you find interesting as something your audience would be intersted in. MOST people who spend $70,000 on a vehicle are not going off roading. They are professionals (Doctors, lawyers, engineers, executives) or business owners. Again, I say "most people" not all people. At best, their vehicles will go to the local ski lodge - but thats it. So launching it to 60miles per hour TWICE is annoying. I want to see how it rides at city speeds. I want to see efficiency kwh/mile I want to see features families care about: Rear seat entertainment, cup holders, chargers, rear legroom
This is my personal truck and I am an engineer like you stated above, and with that being said I absolutely love the 0-60. It’s intoxicating and fun everytime I step on it.
Surprising that at the price the fronk isn't lined. Its doesn't appear to be a cold storage area. I think the emblem/logo should always be on the grill or front, not the hood. I'm not a fan of car with sun roofs that do not open. Its not just about the view or light but ventilation. Its peculiar that Rivian so detailed with motorize vents yet chose to use a fixed glass roof. Anyway, I don't get the rise at the rear door at the C-pillar, and there's no light in the storage tunnel. It definitely needs to have closed storage in the center console especially since it doesn't have glove box -- which is again peculiar. For the off-road configuration it must have the quad- motors. On the plus side, I really love the seats. They're very attractive and futuristic. The accents are distinctive without being gaudy. In fact, the leather is so convincing I'd have no problem choosing it over the real thing. The wood is nice and the doors open wide (although not quite 90 degrees). BTW, it really needs a tonneau cover to mitigate drag, and does it include a tow package? I also didn't notice a rear view mirror camera, or any accent lighting.
All have tow hitch and 7 pin included standard. There's a 12v in the rear tunnel for light if you really needed it. The center console does open and close for storage.
Fixed glass is to save cost and provide additional headroom. It also reduces weight compared to an opening sunroof and lets in more light. I prefer the fixed roof myself.
No transmission so it’s just how fast the motors can spin directly. That’s why the porche EV can go faster is they made a unique 2 gear transmission to enable faster speeds with the same motor rpms. Most trucks are speed limited to like 110 anyways because of safety/focus on low speed torque.
I love the Rivian and plan to get one; but I'm going to wait until 2026 to see if the Next Generation Batteries are going to hit the market. IF that happens, this truck will have 400 miles of range and charge 50% faster.
I would be open to buying this vehicle, but I drive alot and need great supercharging, and there are so many RU-vidrs who have documented the CCS failures on Rivians and other brands. So until RIvian goes NACS, I'm out.
They do plan on it. Until then, they will have adapters. I don't think CCS is the failure point, it's the various unreliable CCS chargers. This truck, plugged into a NACS Tesla Supercharger using an adapter should be every bit as reliable as native NACS. My proof for this is that Rivian's own network (which is CCS) is just as reliable as Tesla.
People who make less than $150k are purchasing an $80K vehicle? Seems like most people who can afford this vehicle wouldn’t qualify for the tax credit.
If you decide to tow even half its capacity. The max battery on full charge barely gets 100 miles. Just try to find a charging station every 90 miles. Not! Even if you did you would have to fully charge or you won’t make it to the next one. So you will need a week plus for a 1000 miles. You better also hope it stays above 70 degrees. It’s a toy.
Having so many of the controls in the infotainment sounds less safe and would also likely annoy me. I’m not interested in any vehicles where the majority of the controls are in the screen. For me the R1T & S have handsome exteriors and gorgeous interiors. I’ll enjoy watching them go by 🤙
I agree, but at least they were reasonable by giving you a real gauge cluster, turn signal and gear selector shafts. Buttons for headlight and wiper controls etc. It's like they took the Tesla mindset, but did it responsibly instead of forcing a screen for EVERYTHING.
Looks amazing. I wonder if this could be a tesla size company with all the backing they are getting. Definitely getting bailed out for billions, to stay a float, and are capable of being bailed out for billions again and again. How long until they find their footing and start making profits is the question. I hope to see more from them. I am going to check out their stuff in person. Can't afford it, but can afford to look :)
I actually see a lot of these! Not too bad for a 1st try! Should they merge with a brand like tesla and we'd probably have a new industry powerhouse to rival most all brands specially if they are dependable!
As a Rivian and a Tesla owner I would hate if they merged with Tesla. Rivian is a great company that cares about their customers. The opposite of Tesla, whose massive growth has led to a "we're doing you a favor" feeling during every painful interaction.
It may be able to tow 11,000 lb, but not very far. I will wait for the RAM Charger to be out a full year before I replace my 5 7 liter 2019 RAM 1500 Limited.
@@reggie_m45 We talk about what’s “new” for 2024 in the review and it’s not much at all. Usually, we would put the correct year, but we felt for this review because Rivian made basically no changes for 2024, it would be appropriate.
