If they really gonna slap some clip on n increase the rake on the mt09 the better stay away from those ugly fake air ramp / headlamp. They better use the r6 style or straightaway use r1 fairings. Hopefully the kept it small and compact
this is a HUGE improvement to the current triple and parallel twin market and I would assume this blows the gsx8r out of the water! Super interested as getting this in the next year or 2
Super excited for this! Definitely been a long time coming and hopefully they do a proper sub frame and make an aggressive position! It could be a fantastic bike
I think a bike with the MT09 powerplant, but with geometry that stops wheelies would be an incredible bike I’ve owned 2 09’s (still have them both) and the catch 22 is that they wheelie…a lot….like you accelerate moderately in a corner at an intersection doing 30km/h and it’ll wheelie. Would be cool to see the potential of the engine if it wasn’t in a hoon bike 😁
its crazy how everyone says that 11.5k for the rs660 is expensive, but as soon as yamaha releases the r9 for 12.5k all of a sudden its cheap and affordable lol
Oh boy can't wait for another under powered yamaha bike....I'm sure it'll feel great on track but I'm done with track riding i just want power for the street
I'll definitely be putting a downpayment on one as soon as dealers confirm! The CP3 is the perfect mix of HP/TQ for the street imo and still good for the track.
A 2020 R6 fully tuned/full system with stock internals only makes 120hp/46 ftlbs tq. MT09 117 hp/68ftlbs tq. So definitely much more torque much earlier, the only way I see this bike losing to a R6 is past 120mph pure acceleration.
@ganuvien unless they make some changes to either the tune or a slight upgrade to the engine. But yeah, I agree. It would be disappointing if it can't reach higher top speed for the track. Especially on a professional level.
You know.. it just seems like Yamaha had no idea how to “please the crowd”, with changes after changes .. Now I’m a ZX-6R rider but please hear me out. I have in my garage 3 CBRs in different years, 2 R1s going back to 2002, but any ways the point is that Yamaha keeps dropping engine size 😢 and thinks it’s promotional with all these gimmick bikes they just praise the hell out of it. (And price) I mean cool if you’ve never ridden a motorcycle before , or if you’re that person that buys a 600cc or 1,000cc sport bike and by some magic all of a sudden you’re a professional rider ( I mean dead statistic). Lower CC bikes are absolutely no problem, hell they do anything that a 1,000cc bike can do legally. My first 600cc bike was a CBR 600 F3 back in 1998. I’m sure I’m out of touch with the bike seen. But 300cc bikes used to cost about $3,000 bucks. On a good day you could find a Ninja 250cc for like $1,500. Last point. The inflation in bike prices is crazy! Let’s go Brandon! Lol
With intake, full exhaust, proper tune a MT09 makes 117hp/68ftlbs tq if it ends up keeping the same internals as the MT09 I imagine it'll stay around there.
Ducati with Panigale V2 959 KTM with RC 990 R Yamaha with R9 Aprilia RS660 MV Agusta F3 800 RR are Kawasaki and Honda still loyal with their 4cyl 600 or Kawasaki also has 850(900) 4cyl😅😅😅 are they willing to upgrade it😂
Other MC reviewers and riders say the R7 lacks and feels JUST like an MT07 w clip ons? I agree it has to be slightly different but it’s not enough to be a fully faired bike.
We‘ll see. We know that the R7 was not a replacement or a successor to the R6 but maybe the R9 can be what true fans expected the R7 to be. If it’s an evolution and something that evolved from the R6 I would consider replacing mine with the R9. We‘ll see…
