A Fabia VRS trying to race you on the motorway is like that small guy who doesn't backdown from a bar fight with a big guy, you just know there's more than you'd expect 😂
On the motorway? Why say motorway? Cars with higher horses from 80 will obviously be quicker past 100. 🤦🏻♂️ they do struggle past 100. They’re at their best from 30 to 100. And they’re animals.
Have one of these in the family. Cost us £1000 (171k on miles) and has a pd150 turbo and is mapped to around 200. It honestly brings me joy when I drive it. So much fun and it feels fast on the twisty roads. Cheap as chips to run, insure, repair and maintain. And returns 50+Mpg
No car is cheap to insure as first car. However once you have a few years experience and no claims there's not much out there as nippy as the VRS and cheaper to insure
@@44yamx70 get a small petrol runabout for your first car. I got a Peugeot 205 and could insure it for £500 looking to swap it for a vRS now I have no claims and insurance is only £600 for it
Well i have raced stock S3 8v in mine , im on 1756 from turbo dynamics, 223hp & 315ftlbs, and i held it for 3 gears before he started to put a few cars on me lol Also tested against M135i, held it till nice mph until high speeds then it took off nicely Not bad for 170k mile diesel that costs pennies to run lol , service every 4k, & run only on BP ultimate diesel or Nitro+
I run one as a daily for the past 4 years - her reliability has been total - she does 70 mile per day on a mixture of back roads and motorway - she was modded tastefully with a reality output which leaves her an absolute joy to drive - I get better running costs than any EV - I'm going to keep her on the road for as long as I can for nothing else comes close !
These powerful vrs's are everywhere nowadays! Makes me want my old pd160 Cupra back😭miss the torque and cheap fuel costs. Wouldn't say they are bulletproof at all though! Had 4 pd motors in the past and went through clutches, turbos and camshafts on every motor. 1.8ts in comparison have given me fairly little grief! Loved this video though! Looks like a low key beast
They do have their issues. But great on fuel and quick when tuned. Plus cheap to maintain. I use a slightly tuned as a daily (230hp 350lbs). I have another car thats quicker but these are fun.
These constant uploads! Fair play Ricky! 👏🏻 Loving the 'Old Style Format' that alot of people can relate too 👌🏻 Proper little weapon you've got there Dan 💨
I have one as well as my daily - Best car I've ever had - mine was modded when I got it - it is a proper sleeper and an absolute riot ! I get over 55 mpg as well - no petrol can match that ! Great review - young lad was bricking it !!
Really? I can’t even get the right parts sent to me and then didn’t like me asking for experiences on social media! Im waiting to see If Im being skanked my mapping deposit and also losing 2 nights in a hotel in Barnsley Ive already paid for !!! 😡
@@stuartpringle913 I tried commenting on your post on fb but I’m banned atm, they sent me over £1000 worth of wrong parts after I gave them the reg etc and they said “ not our problem “
@@rh9224 I went and bought just over a bag of sand in parts that I went and picked up personally, my experience is ongoing at the moment. I will hammer them in every review I can If they do not rectify my situation at the moment. Im actually booked in for a turbo and mapping for 1st but got an email crying about my FB post asking for peoples experiences!! I’ll find out tomorrow but I hope they’re man enough to be the bigger and better and pick their toys up and give me the work I want and service I expected from the beginning.
@@u04pww2 Im going to message pd parts if Darkside want to throw their toys completely out the pram. They should be grateful for my post and learn and build on the comments left!
Just bought a Toyota sprinter trueno GTZ from your mate Ricky, Yurgen at JM IMPORTS, it has a 1.6L 16v DOHC supercharged engine running around 170bhp stock, has LSD and is a 5 speed, rare as rocking horse 💩 cant wait to pick her up!, deffo a future turbo build, herd the engines have forged parts from factory and block is solid an are good for upto 300+bhp without internal part changes 😆 🤔 Gearboxes are also suppose to be well over engineered for the stock power, id love to get it on the channel Ricky in the future, so you can scare the life out of me on the twistys 🤣
Sideshow Bob in the back being thrown about like a maniac wearing a massive grin the whole time, Nothing like a little hatch back ripper. Nice job fellas.
Hello, Gen Q; How much to fit me engine mounts, rear axle polys, a clutch (if needed) and map me in a new turbo? I want a reliable 220 max hp and 380 max lbs. its my daily. Ive actually messaged you on fb messenger and came to an agreement on turbo and sensor but Im having trouble with DS developments and not sure how the shit show will pan out. Rough idea please.
Not surprised it keeps spinning with those Nankang ‘ditch finders’. I bet the car would be a lot better on some decent rubber like Michelin PS4S’ or Goodyear Eagle F1 SS.
I have a standard Fabia vRS and in day to day commuting it's performance is sufficient. Good on fuel and has enough poke to get up to speed with not much sweat! Wouldn't say it's any quicker than a car of the same horsepower and weight figures. The advantage of a petrol engine is a wide powerband. Gearing isn't much of a factor, if anything it has longer gearing than a typical small engined petrol. It just doesn't rev high and runs out of shove around 3.5k rpm.
Liking these last few motors Ricky, motors for the common man ye it's nice to see Porsches and skylines but makes a nice change to daydream about something that attainable
Easily could.. under 2k you can get pd150 turbo fmic 150 head bolts, clutch.. for 4k you could get a second hand engine and bang it in.. god knows where 6k is from 🤣 brand spankin new parts then second it’s on road you’ll loose 30/40% of the value..
A pd 150 turbo isn't getting anywhere near 300, even a hybrid won't get near, he says he's running a 2260vk, that with the injectors/upgraded clutch flywheel, mapping ect would easily be 6k when all factors are considered, once had a mk4 golf with a pd130 in that i chucked money at, wish i hadn't its not worth it, costs too much to have a car that keeps up with mediocre petrol cars. Diesels are best at being the slow ones 😀, you want to go quick get a petrol.
Old school content !!!!! Love it ! I know it can’t be all the time but it’s sweeet to watch ! And respect to dean gaffney the cars definitely fun n fast 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Reminds me of my old Mk4 Jetta tdi. It was stage 1 tuned and I had a VNT 20 that never made it on. This thing makes Golf R power and I guarantee it gets better gas mileage
Love these cars and have one (daily) as well as a TTS…. Stick to the roots Ricky. Good vid. And them Northerners fookin love em. Were too jumped up down these ways. I feel like spending big money on mine to shut people up and wipe some smiles but I think forging my TTS with a big turbo and taking it from 380 to 550 is wheee its at.
