How's it holding up? I'm stuck between ddj400 and impulse. Everybody says Pioneer but my old Hercules Steel from 2011 or so still kicks. I respect Hercules build quality. I use Virtual DJ so software doesn't really affect my choice.
I remember when I'm starting out, I have the Vestax Typhoon controller. Such a good dj controller with a lot of good features and that baby is still alive until today 🙂 .. Now, I have a Pioneer DDJ-SR controller and 2 technics 1200 turntable. Go find what dj equipment you want, and suit to your style of djing.. it doesn't matter if that controller is for beginners or not.. all of these controllers is a good choice. Remember, the equipment doesn't make you a good DJ, It's all about skills and originality.✌️🏻
Just ordered an Inpulse 500, been watching your videos to know which is correct for me since I’m going from producing music to DJing. I can confidently say that the Inpulse 500 is best for me because of the guides for beatmatching which I can turn off once I master that. Been having a blast watching your videos!
@@rafaelyamamoto5360 Honestly Really Great for beginners and overall very great controller, my only issue like Carlo has stated, was that it does not have a dedicated FX button, which means if you wanna use any other fx except filters, it will activate the filter as well but honestly i worked with it as is and it works very well. ive done great sets with the controller!
When Numark Platinum FX came out you made a video telling that this is the best DJ controller for beginners! When Hercules Inpulse 500 came out, you made a video telling the same thing, that Hercules is the best choice for beginners. And now that most of your fans and channel subscribers have bought one of these two, you make a video telling that Pioneer sb3 is the best choice, and better than the other two. I'm one of your fans that bought the Numark Platinum FX after your video when it came out. I'm a fan of your channel and of course your videos, but after your today video, I have to say that this was a wrong move! Sorry for telling that, but this is what's the feeling for me now! Your video today shows us that you are trying to be "good" with all big DJ companies. That's why I write that it was a really wrong move from you!
I Just ordered the white inpulse 500 , pioneer dominants on the pro level (everyone knows ) but for entry level -mid the win goes to that inpulse 5 a very well build overall . 9.5/10 just needed 2 separate Fx/filter ! Facts
Great review as always ! You convinced me to start DJing and quit Beatmaking with all of your videos haha I'm waiting for my inpulse 200 now The inpulse 500 wins my heart only by the looks , but as you said , the fx section ...
Exactly the same 3 reasons, why i changed from the ddj400 to the numark. I am so happy with it. No comparison to the Pioneers. The Pitchrange feels so familiar to the 1210 and the jogwheels are the same as on the Prime 2.
Hey Carlo, Im a 13yr old boy, and ive been deejaying for almost a year lately, and i can do some transitions pretty well, not super well but i got the basics nd. bit more covered, ive been watching u regularily since 4 months and just started to love and appreciate your vids...I just wanted to ask u if u think im ready to do some gigs, in like small bars, pubs n stuff. Like how good should i be to be able to do my first gigs? btw, i already did some tiny gigs, but just like at a friend of mine's birthday, and i did pretty well, and everyone was quite happy about it... And once more i went to this trendy bar in my city and i went to watch the deejay mix and stuff, and he asked if i wanted to try, and i said yes, and for like half an hour or so, i deejayed, and did well.. So, what would u say? am i too young? Do i need to be better? idk
Practice Practice Practice study your favorite dj's / musicians & remember The principle holds that 10,000 hours of "deliberate practice" is needed to become world-class in any field. #Cheers #Focus
The bar I work at just got an impulse 500 and while djuced and serato are Great I'm definitely sticking with traktor pro 3 and getting a mapping (currently using an S2 mk2 with traktor dj2 at home)
I'd go for the Inpulse 500 ..more up to date and not forget the most important point, it's build quality! This is a European company so things are different , the quality seems like a product for a lifetime
What I also loved was the bigger tempo range and center display is very helpful. Instead of looking at the pc all the time it's easier to beat match with center display.
I have the hard choice to decide between the ddj-sb3 and platinum fx. Scratching sounds like so much fun, wouldn't want to make it hard for me to learn it with the platinum fx, but it has those lcd displays and effect section. Maybe I just do the basics scratches for now and focus on learning how to make good mixes with effects. - Edit After looking into it it appears the ddj-sb3 has been replaced by DDJ-REV1, which has a battle style layout. Tried it in a shop and didn't find it nice to use. I think I now have to go for the numark, can't find old stock.
The Hercules, apart from the 4 instant FX that you see in the middle of the console, using SHIFT and Sampler, you get another 8 FX buttons on each deck from the pads, and you dont need to activate the Filter knob. Shoulnt it be the winner??? haha I just got the Impulse, was curious about the Numark One cause of the screens, but after seeing this video I'll stick with the Impulse.
Well, my opinions have since changed, but yeah, the Inpulse honestly has the best bang for buck nowadays. Tbh, paddle triggers have also won me over now, and I can't live without them. Only real drawback with the Inpulse is that the FX section is unusual
Mr Carlos can u put this in order to your opinion best to worst price not important Roland 808 $860 Tractor mk1 4s $200 $ 350 Pioneer DDJ-SR2 Portable 2-channel Controller for Serato Denon MCX8000 4-Channel Standalone DJ Controller + ZOMO Flycase $870
Hmmmm, hard to say because I've never tried the 808, so it wouldn't be fair for me to judge it. You're getting a pretty good deal on the MCX8000 though!
Me: Was thinking of going to sleep Also Me: Sees Master uploads new Video about Dj controllers... Me again: Sleep can wait xD Love the comparison Master and also i have a question Suppose I'm not that into scratching is the Numark Mixtrack Platinum Fx a good choice?🤔
spend 60 more bucks and get the mixars. It comes already with serato pro, which will cost you another 100 for the inpulse. built quality and onboard features are also way beyond the inpuls.
You should do a video of what you could get used on reverb like used tractor mk1s4 compared to something comparable like would the mk1 s4 or ddj 400 or inpulse 500. Or the best 500 used dj controller
Which one would you recommend more for scratching? I really like the paddle effects on the Numark but sounds like the jogwheels on the Hercules might be better for scratching.
Very Nice video. I think I’m going for the numark or Hercules, but I have two questions for you... If you where a beginner and thinking about to buy the hercules or the numark, witch one should you shoose. And are there diffrences in the sound quality with this two controllers?
Ok yeah thats good to know. But Also I don’t have any dj speakers yet. But I have a bluetooth speaker from JBL thats called JBL PARTYBOX 110. Do you think I can use that speaker and plugg it in straight into the dj controller and start djing without problem? Or is there something I should think about?
Hi i cannot really decide even after watching the video :D Im just starting so im a complete beginner, im a bit worried that the lack of Effects on the Hercules will bother me from a price prespective the Hercules is a good amount cheaper than the Numark Hercules: 240 Euros Numark: 290 euros i mostly listen to psytrance/trance, hardstyle an sometimes edm/charts idk if thats a reason to go for one or the other and another question can i use both of them with an Tablett or do i need a laptop/notebook? thank you in advance.
Oh man, only a few controllers really work with tablets! I would recommend checking out my latest Best Controllers video as theres a more comprehensive range of newer controllers there
Hi, I am starting off and I am already so inspired! Would I also need a new laptop for ddj 400? If so, which do you recommend? I currently have a 2015 Mac OSx Yosemite 10.10.5.
I'm more interested in the club styler James Hype side of the industry.....yet for some reason I chose the DDJ-SB3 as my first controller..... instead of the 400
Can someone explain to me why I paid a lot more for 2 pioneer cdj-350’s and a djm-350 2 channel mixer? I’m a noob and only bought them a few months ago and had a lot of fun learning the art of beat matching without and other cues apart from seeing the tempos and listening
Save $50 and buy the Numark Pro Fx instead of the Numark Platinum Fx. Apart from the Visual Display within the Jog Wheels, they are exactly the same. Oh, if you think the 4 channel mixing capabilities in Numark Platinum Fx is gonna come in handy, as Cleveland Terry says, "Never in my life will I ever use a 2 Channel mixer to do 4 channel mixing"...
Ah because I made the feels to look like a follow-up to my previous uploads regarding entry-level controllers! But glad you still findit amazing! I guess I’ll save that on my next video or so! Because this series is interesting. Comparing controllers rather than featuring one.
Hi carlo I have a question and a video idea for you, after having the ddj 400 for 9 months now (from your recommendation) I feel like I'm starting to out grow the controller a little. So could you tell us what is the best intermediate to semi pro controllers that are available. Thank you in advance love your content bro
I was going to buy the Numark Platinum (instead of DDJ 400). A DJ friend recommended the controller (and is/was using it almost daily) at first, told me a few months later, that the problems with the Numark start after a month or so: buttons falling apart, deviations between the display on the jog wheel and the software, some fx being non-responsive and so on. I am confused. All the reviews, I have read or seen are either first impressions or performed on brand-new controllers. This is a new hobby for me, and I am sure, I am not going to use it daily, but I want things to last for a while, or in other words, I don't want to buy another controller next month. So, what's up with that? Maybe you could shed some light on this. Thank you very much.
Hmmm, I've had no problems with the Platinum FX, and neither has a friend of mine and he's been using it near daily too for a lot of gigs. I say it's still pretty solid!
They're both excellent controllers Jonesy, but it depends on which DJ program you wanna use. The 400 is exclusive for Rekordbox, while the 500 works with Serato and a few more. Check out my review videos on both as well!
Can anyone help me with FADER START function on DDJ 800 !!!??? I used to have 2 CDJ1000s and DJM 600 mixer and there was I cord connected between them that allowed for fader start but the one way I see to activate it on my DDJ 800 is while holding the shift button which is hard to do if I’m scratching...PLEASE HELP !
What's up with scatching ? Not anyone enjoys this skill. Nice controllers but lacks XLR, Power button, and Aux. Seems controllers are lacking these options but rising high-level price range. Sad how the DJ industry has changed and boosts customers' pockets. I have been a DJ for 30 years and noticed this industry has become a profit game. Another issue why VDJ have their own name controllers. A friendly system instead of having overkill serato software. Why not keep it simple and bring down the cost of dj products. It's become almost buying a vehicle. Make the customer happier instead of cutting figures.
While I completely see your point and where you're coming from, Serato doesn't increase a controller's price point. The pro version almost never comes with the software, and the lite one is free. On scratching, you're absolutely correct. You'll need the right crowd and timing to make it work. I just happen to be a scratch DJ 😅
