As someone that's getting into serious cycling, I've noticed so far that your videos have been the most informative and consistent. I like that you provide footage examples too of each camera. Would you maybe consider making a video showing the best cameras that are on the cheaper side? $200/$150 and under for the people that are just getting into this and are maybe on a budget? I can't find a single account that's as informative/helpful and provides examples the way you do. I know it's a lot to ask, but it would sure help new cyclists like me and my partner out! Take care!
Hey Arleigh…I just found your channel and really appreciate you moving through the different cameras. I currently shoot all my cycling videos on GoPro cameras (8, 9, and 10) and some video is shot on the Insta360 Go2. I also have thought about including the ZV-1 in my inventory but am hesitant to do that since I am not sure how much I would use it.
Got back in/onto bike riding, specifically E-biking, >2.5 years or so & have never used my phone footage recording, STRICTLY as phone!-lol. For video recording, have DJI Osmo Action 1 & 3. Weak-point is editing, which is still a Work in Progress!-lol Whenever going out dusk/night riding around town, Strapped up to ArmyTek Wizard C2 ProMax headlamp(4000 max lumens) & Noxgear Tracer2 LED light vest...Stay Safe, Ride Safer...Aloha from Hawaii
I own most all go pros except the max the 10 and 6. I do own a lot of others. Cannon rebel dslr Nikon j1 cannon rebel and two Samsung cameras I have 2 contour cameras older but work and some knock offs I call no pros. I usally just hit record and go but getting the 9 really made me learn settings. Colors were blasted I had to switch a lot. I usally pick a go pro that is charged up and go. One thing I always do is order extra batteries and sd card
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing this. I use the Insta360 ONE R with the one inch mod for my action recording, and the 360 mod for the fun, creative shots. I also have the Sony ZV-1 and I like the small compact form factor, with a good quality audio and video.
He u light my mind up I need one I have been noticing that the traffic light on the street turns on before the side walk I ride a e bike bad judgment and timing ppl are going to get hit
SUBSCRIBED! I use the Insta360 Go2 and my Note 20 but looking into the X2 for a 360 camera. Can you talk about some of those accessories you use to make the phone more useful on the go?
I thought that looked like Whippoorwill Park at the beginning! Wow, very exciting to encounter a RU-vid celeb from Durham! I need to get that Peak Design case. I also have the QuadLock case, and you're right ... the case is ill-suited for any situation other than mounting on a bike. And my success rate in re-seating the phone while riding is ... very very low. :)
Great video! When you're an amateur it's awfully pricey to afford all of these. I have a great phone in the s22 ultra , but for my biking I'm thinking about adding the go pro 11. That insta 360 does look pretty sweet though.
Thank you for sharing your advice on this topic. I have a GoPro and a kom mount so that I can have it mounted in front of the handle bars. I also have the remote to turn on the camera wirelessly and take a a picture or video. Unfortunately the remote and camera connection ended up being unreliable. So my question is, do you believe I can keep it mounted and just use the quick capture button to start and stop video? It’s shard for me to see if I’ve pressed it hard enough sometimes. I guess I’m wondering if I don’t have something set up right.
oh yeh?! My wife has it and the footage wasn't justifiable for the price. I only did some basic tests though What were you coming from? Can you share some footage on your channel?
Still something you’ll have to hold in your hand, press few buttons/sliders etc.. dangerous while riding and chances of dropping it. The filming shouldn’t annoy the ride so much.
@@Stevenafoe but it also depends how you ride. You can press record before you ride then stop after. Go pros to me are good. Easy for me. No one sent me any I bought them all or wife got me them as a gift.
I get pulled over and violated all the time. My lawyer said get it on camera and New Braunfels Police department will have federal lawsuits. I bike everywhere 🤘 😂they don't know how close they are to making me an online sensation
What are your suggestions for road safety cameras to capture bad drivers and act as a roadcam rather than for documentary purpose? I see a lot of the Cycliq Fly 12 and 6, but haven't seen any other popular examples in this space. Personally, I've been using the Garmin Virb Elite, which I love because it doubles as a cycling computer, but it's near the end of its life unfortunately and I'm also looking for a rear-facing camera to pair it with.
@@BikeShopGirl I've recently added a Techalogic CF-1 front camera/light to my cargo bike. It's not pretty but it's cheap, the footage is good enough for reporting unsafe driving to the police and I can leave it bolted to the bike for convenience (which is important for utility trips). They also do a rear (the CR-1) which looks a little better as it's closer in appearance to a rear light.
How about to capture close passes from vehicles? I currently use the techalogic dual camera which captures behind and in front of me, which is mounted on my helmet but not the side unless I turn my head.
I’m only interested in getting a camera for safety . Which is best for that, and to grab license plate number if something bad happens ? How is battery life on go pro?
im cuirus a few years later how have you been using your sony zv-1 is it still in good use or what has become your main cameras on the go. Mine are gopro 10 but i really feel that my DSLR has stayed in the bag most of the time. and a pocket camera with a zoom and a ok focal lenght would be much nicer to have near by.
I was curious where all the videos you create for Tern end up. I occasionally see them on the Tern Facebook page but I'm sure there's more. As a Tern rider, I would be interested in seeing all of them.
Arleigh, great content Thank you ! 👍🏾👊🏾 A huge struggle for me. Been trying to find a GOOD, easy to use camera while on my bici. Now just avid rider, used my GoPro 4 back in the day & a few years ago was gifted a GoPro 8 (can't keep up w/them 🙁). I much rather spend the $ on my bici. Please advise if the GP 8 a good option to use, have yet to try it due to much indoor training. Not trying to do anything fancy, just some good recording, easy to use & share. Thanks again & keep up the great videos. 🙂
Thanks for this! I've been camera-curious for many years but just can't seem to land on one and so have just been using whatever phone I have. A friend gave me an ancient GoPro to try out but by the time I got some accessories and tried to figure out the settings I lost interest LOL and now I lost the GoPro! Oh well, maybe some day.
I love your channel, i 'm just curious, how do you deal with worry of animals or just random people looking for trouble ? The camera is definitely is appealing.
Thanks for the great info and now you've piqued my interest in the Insta 360 which probably will be my next new toy. Have you used the Insta 360 for low light footage and if so, I'm wondering how it compares the the GoPro. At 24 fps and 1/48th I'm able to get some amazing stabilized low light footage with the GoPro on the Karma Grip but when I reach a certain point, it drops off a cliff. Also I've never gotten anything but really shaky footage from a bike-mounted iPhone. Do you have to do post-processing to make it usable?.
The mountain bike footage in this video did not have any stability and not on a gimbal but shooting at 60fps helps this too. Low light on any action camera is hard due to the sensor size. What are you trying to capture in low light?
@@BikeShopGirl I shoot bike videos at twilight. As I mentioned, the GoPro + Karma Grip (gimbal) works really well up to a certain point. I'm guessing the one X2 would not really give me any advantage in this regard but I was curious if you compared low light performance at all. The One R with the 1 inch mod might be more appropriate for me for the larger sensor. I would also want the 360 mod for the angles and invisible selfie stick effect but would only use it in better light.
Get a rode mic. And you get media mod for the GoPro you can add mic. There is one to get another RU-vidr Clint did a video on his and his mic is cheap but sounds great.
These cameras are useless for me. none of them last more than an hour, two at best. then they are dead weight. Or carry extra batteries. more weight and pain changing batteries, PITA. Does anyone make a camera that lasts more than a few hours on one charge? I have the cycliq but its crap. So im looking for a good camera/light for cycling. any thoughts?
I recently switched to using the Insta360 OneX 2 pretty much exclusively for my videos. I have it mounted to the Insta selfy stick and it sticks out ahead of me about 3 feet or so. I love the versatility of easily getting shots from so many angles at once. You can see a few ru-vid.com
Do you realize you just wave the camera (whichever you are holding) over and over and over again. If you held it still and let us see it, that would be better. Turn the volume off and watch the vid and see what I mean. If you aren't holding a camera you wave your hand.
