I don't normally write long comments, but I was so happy to see this! I agree that digital missionary work needs to catch up to the modern world in order to reach the lost. Kinda similar to the Nerf gun story at the end, as someone that grew up playing fighting games, I was actually able to have more spiritual conversations through going out to gaming tournaments (pre COVID) than through traditional evangelism

LOTS OF GOOD THOUGHTS here. I find it pretty sad how most churches (including mine), as soon as live streams worked well enough from a technical standpoint, said to themselves "yup, we’ve done it" and stopped ever thinking about whether the format even made any sense. Will have to say tho: at 17:00 the super loud music became to much for my ADHD brain. Dunno how others feel about it but to me it just really competes with what’s being said both musically as well as in terms of volume.

I am wondering: - How can someone who has to preach on Sunday also work on putting out videos which are evangelistic in nature without having to prepare a second talk? - How long should the talk be optimally? - How do I get the content writing figured out weekly- that is biblical and balanced? I think a lot of churches feel like the Nerf community you found. Could we get together online and play fortnite each week? Yes. Is it as good as having live nerf wars? In a way, no. Especially when our goal was to recreate a church service, not necessarily reach the lost. Great thoughts here though! Seems the churches who are trying have done what we usually do, hire a pastor (e-fam pastor) to be in charge of it. I’d love to hear your thoughts on that model.

The reason is that church is for Believers. Get out the 4 walls and go into the world and make disciples.
