my first megabass was the super destroyer with the marbled reel seat... hated it. literally felt like a pool cue. Picked up two evoluzion, the 63 super griffon and 68 jabberwok with slant handle. Those were special to me. After a dozen or so others have switched to steez racing design. Cant keep track of the hundreds of models.
super destroyer 6,9. Is it has enough power to hook set walleye? Because, almost every fisherman in my country recomend to use ex. fast rods for walleye, because it have verry boneish mouth, and it need a lot of power to get the hook in. So i want to try this rod for that typo of fishing jig for zander (walleye)
That eliminater is a fantastic rod for bank fishermen. With a 70 sized reel and 6lb line I have a ton of success fishing 110jrs, pointer 78s, x80 trick darters, and weightless flukes with those sticky sharp owner hooks. Highly recommended for bank and kayak guy or girl.
Valkyrie 7’1”H was my first VKC 3yrs ago…. Since then I’ve added 1 Valkyrie every year. A few things I’ve noticed about VKC71H that got me hooked: Very Powerful, when the rod loads up, you instantly feel in control. Versatility, you can actually throw the entire weight rating on the rod and do it EXTREMELY WELL. It power fishes the low to mid weight rating with braid/braid to leader. And then kills it reaction fishing the top end of the rating with Mono or Floro.
My P5 Super Destroyer has been amazing to say the least... and with running a 2021 Antares DC on it the combo is just a joy to use. Just the other day I hooked a 15lb carp in the side of the head and the rod just man handled it. It was really good that this randomly happened because as the fish would dig I could really take the time to check out exactly how the blank was tapered, where it would be bend and how far into the blank that bend would go. And I don't think that rod has to just be for "close and accurate" moments because this rod will absolutely launch a 3/8oz chatterbait with a small/medium size trailer on it.
A little off topic but I have the Irod bama rig rod and I use it for wake baits and smaller glide baits and it does ok. How much of a difference would there be between this rod and the evergreen combat stick wake bait rod. Thank you for your help
Thanks for the breakdown between the P5 and the Carbon Head Super Destroyers. Exactly the info I was needing. I just recently got my first P5 The X-bites and just ran across a Carbon Head SD… I may hold out for a P5 SD for the versatility aspect but I do love throwing jigs and worms. ✌️
Hey Ben would you try and get in the Imakatsu IK-800 R2 deep crank bait ? I used to crush them with this bait years ago. They are hard to find now. T.W. has a few of them but I trade exclusively with you guys now. It’s been a top secret weapon of mine for years. Thanks if you can. Mike V.
This is the first time at all, that I have to disagree with Ben. I fish the Eliminator (Carbon Head Destroyer) as well as the OneTen Stick (P5 Destroyer). The action differs a lot. OneTen stick is crisp, although a slow action, and bends very deep under load. Eliminator uses a much softer tip in comparison and has more backbone which leads to different applications. Eliminator: Small Plugs, Squarebills, small cranking in general. OneTen Stick: Twitch/Jerkbaits, shallow to medium depth, treble hook baits which has to be sharply animated in common. The tip action of both models could not be more different. Sorry, just my 2 cents….
You’re not allowed to disagree with me! 🤣. You’re feeling the true difference between Destroyer graphite and P5 graphite. You are totally correct - they have a different feel for sure!👊🍻
I've had the Super Destroyer since last summer and I have only thrown it a few times. I just can't seem to find the perfect use for it. Originally got it for my wife to use as an open water frog rod but she's been using the Killer Code, so... What I'm (finally) getting at is: Thank You! I will try it out as a dedicated skipping rod! Appreciate this video greatly!
I’ve often times thought of selling my P5 Super Destroyer. May have to reconsider and keep it now. It just doesn’t really find its place on the top of my deck as much as my others that are staples (Wind Buster, X-Bites, Addermine, Perfect Pitch, OneTen Stick, Tomahawk, Poison 7’2)
Great info Ben. Thanks. Now do another video just like this one but on Deep Crank bait rods that we don’t ever hear about. Something in the 15+ foot lineup that has a lot of bend throughout the blank for keeping big fish pinned. Thanks to all your crew for being so nice and helpful. Mike V.
