Patty Marcotte (Yeshe Jamyang) gives an introductory talk on "The Thirty-Seven Practices of a Bodhisattva," a classical text by Gyalse Tokme Zangpo which holds great importance in the Mahayana Buddhist tradition. The text encapsulates the essence of the Bodhisattva Path, offering instructions on how to cultivate wisdom and compassion in everyday life.
Each of the thirty-seven verses addresses a specific aspect of Bodhisattva practice, such as generosity, ethical conduct, patience, diligence, and wisdom. By meditating on these teachings, we gradually transform our minds and behaviors to align with the altruistic motivation of the Bodhisattva-the aspiration to attain enlightenment for the liberation of all sentient beings. In this talk, we also meditate together on a few select passages.
