Ill be selling mine next year for something a little more family oriented. Its a 2012 M56X its been the best car Ive ever owned hands down. only ting Ive ever had to replace is brakes tires and a battery
👍🏾 Good choice. I have only seen a handful of m56 on the road but I cannot recall seeing a q70… perhaps that is the point. Hope you find the perfect one
I had 2012 of this beautiful car , the only issue about this car is the 4WAS , the rear wheel steering system, you can't remove it from the car , and all the safety systems are connected to it .
Precisely, The highest i've seen was an engine dyno all motor build pushing around 660hp I think that is a healthy reliable result to further prove you point.
Yes they are heavy but it is a luxury sedan, it gives the excuse (or reason) to add more power. However, they are quick for what they are from the factory.
This is a GREAT QUESTION. According to an article on motor trend, the M35h uses the same final drive as the m56. I am not 100% sure but it seems if one could swap the diff from a m56 as mentioned in this video you might be able to do the same to your vehicle. Then if you wanted you could do bolt ons but what makes your care unique to majority of others is the fact that its a hybrid meaning torque early on in the power band and a diff swap may help with that if it can be done. I am not sure about tuning based on the fact that your car is a hybrid. I am unaware if the systems running the electric motor are integrated with other systems or not in your car. Outside of that, of course there are transmission upgrades too but again I do not know how simple or complex the hybrid system is. If it is simple then great everything mentioned and if not then options are limited but still doable depending on resources. I hope this helps. PS I think hybrids are cool
I used to tune the VQ 35 engines when they came out. Headers weren't worth the cost of them plus install. All the money you're spending on mods on this car, just buy a used E55 Mercedes 😂
How the aftermarket has improved for the vq35 and the E55 Mercedes as well. That is actually a match up many of us would like to see. Thanks for mentioning E55
@@ModstarzOfficial no, I stopped in 2009-2010. Back in 2007 I had a 9 second VQ. The introduction of the GTR killed the platform really. Everyone that was making VQ turbo kits stopped and started making downpipes and intercoolers for the GTR. If they had only had made a twin turbo VQ from the factory back then😒
@@ModstarzOfficial IMO there is not even a remotely close comparison of the M56 to the GTR. They shouldn't even be in the same conversation honestly. The GTR was a supercar capable of 9 second quarter miles with bolt-ons. You would have to sell both kidneys to get the M56 to do that and at the end of the day the value of doing so is just not there...
@@dajerseyrat I totally understand and agree with what you are saying. It seems now that the companies are bringing that approach down the ladder with the 3.0t platforms that Infiniti has. Now it is just preference with the price of new 3.0t cars vs used GTRs goals aside.
@@ModstarzOfficial Not tryna put you down, but to be honest, any modern 300+BHP Nissan can become a "GT-R" by that logic, let alone any car that is within the same class or weight division as one.
@@DaMotoristX I agree completely you are not putting me down at all. To further prove your point and many others that have made comments about the q50 and q60 for example yes you are correct. But a lot of people know about them and I don’t think many know or knew about the M56 or Q70 when they came out or even now that it may seem irrelevant to most because of the turbo cars of today. However, the price point and simplicity of a v8 in this case is nice and different to what many cars are today. Even in a used market.
@@ModstarzOfficial well, surprisingly enough many don't know the "true" identity of the Infinitis .... the Q50 and Q60 (technically) being the latest Skylines and then the Q70/M Cars being rebadged Fugas, Cefiros, and Cimas ... all luxury cars that descend from the heavily reverred Nissan/Prince Laurel and Gloria.
Technically did not say it was. It is a question to create a discussion around. Discussing the potential of the platform including ways to go about it etc. But I do apologize for the confusion.
Technically did not say it was but I've heard mixed responses of what they were called in japan. Either way this question was presented to spark a conversation. With that said I do appreciate your feedback and honesty.
I have to cater to those who don’t want or need coilovers. However I do understand there are companies that have a good set of coilovers that cost the same for lowering springs and shocks etc.
I owned a 2011 M56S that I had to let go of in 2018 when the engine failed. It is the favorite of all of the cars I have owned. I have owned muscle cars, Japanese tuners, and luxury cars. I used to call it my muscle car in a suit.
Yep, if you are looking to buy one make sure the timing chain was replaced under recall for the V8. Also, inspect and replace your HPFP lifter bucket. There are many posts on the Nico forum and RU-vid. Its a great cruiser and rare vehicle to spot on the roads 😉
Awesome! I am happy for you. That is a car that I think does a lot of things well. Has space for passengers, luggage, good acceleration. Perfect for daily use.
I owned a 2011 M56x. I loved it. Loved. It. It was a pain in the ass sometimes. I sold it after the timing chains and transmission went. Still, that thing pulled. It will take any 'normal' car out there. Its not going to gap a Scatpack or an SS, but most cars out there can't keep up with this. This is a collector's car for sure.
M56 is the Fuga. Not Skyline. Q50 is the Skyline. Altima cylphy. Most recent Skyline GT-R with no turbos would be the Q50s hybrid then later the Q50 RS. Fuga is the Fuga not Skyline and definitely not GT-R.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking to. No disrespect to anyone in this comment section, but I think people just see this as a Nissan with decent power and label as the "4 Door GTR".
The 390hp VK50 powered FX50 is also a legit performer. I think it was the second or third fastest SUV at time of launch and made 414hp with the Sebastian Vettel Edition.
Very cool did not know about it but it makes since considering the other v8 v6 variants they have. Thanks for the mention. The Sebastian Vettel Edition gives me Eau Rogue vibes
We have noticed that cars that are not popular do not go up in value. However, one cannot determine this video alone will cause that to happen. Do you own one of these or are in the process of owning one?
No it won't, it's got old tech in it, sloppy transmission, only good thing is the motor. There are much better cars at that price point, no one is lining up at a second hand Infiniti dealer lot, this is a super niche community.
I have the M56s and was an impulse buy after I heard about PPE developing headers that I have in the garage. (Wanting to get the Q70L, headers on hold.) Last I've heard, long tubes aren't available for the AWD, and UpRev was on hold so they could refine the tune. I put the G37s diff on my previous M45s. Lower gearing and LSD was definitely worth it for the fun factor.
@@ModstarzOfficial I have the M56s, no longer have the M45s. M45 was definitely slower, but was more fun to drive. There's a guy around with, I believe a 7.0L LS motor in his M45. Thing is pretty sick!
@@ModstarzOfficial thought this was interesting. When I heard about PPE, I called and placed an order to build. Co-owner told me a few weeks. Since word got out, they had to move to a larger building and that they were building pallets full, to send to the ME/Dubai. Definitely an in demand item, and why I bought this car lol
Subbed my dude!!! Great video! I'm in the market for 2 cars in the next 2 years. I live in a pretty snowy place with 7 to 8 months of the year with snow or at least the chance of having it. M56x and g37x coupe.
I got almost all those parts on my car lol but scale suspension Stillen exhaust DmS long tube intake Megan upper control arms Megan tow and rear canmbers Uprev tune
Own a M37. If it's your daily, M37 all the way just for the reliability. But since it's not my daily... man I wish I went with the 56. Plus I believe the M56 comes with most of the factory options.
@danielglynn3897 both are a good choice , but there is still opportunity to get m56 if interested. There will be future videos on the M37 as well as the m45.
First off there already are plenty of 4 Dr skylines with turbo second if you don’t know what your talking about or Nissan history why even make a post 3 rd if yo really want a rb engine in a 4dr you find a Nissan y34 Gloria that has an rb25det neo that is turbo from factory. Y’all gotta do better then this.
Context is key my friend, but I do appreciate your passion for the skyline and the RB motor. Also are you a fan of the VR motor? And this isn't far from running 11s like when the r35 was first introduced to the US.
Went to look at a 2012 model at the dealership because I was curious. The salesman was telling me how fast it was and did I want to drive it? I said not yet let me see what the engine compartment looks like. I open the hood and it was a disaster. The previous owner just beat this car and didn’t bother with any upkeep and maintenance. Corrosion and oil leaks coming from I don’t know what that’s how dirty it was. Even the suspension and rotors were shot. There’s no telling how much work needed to be done
First off Good Job at wanting to look everything over. Second, I am sorry that must have been a nightmare to see, but a blessing in disguise. What did you end up going with?
@@ModstarzOfficial I got rid of my sleeper LS460L and just stuck to my truck. Some old lady hit it so I need a car just to take around. I like fast cars that are t on the police radar, so scats and all of that is out. I’ve been looking at a few Hyndai models and even Kias but the used car market is crazy right now. Now sure what to
The LS4! Sure will that’s been in the plans for a minute. Honestly the gm 3800 and ls4 inspired this series all together so I feel like I have to do that for sure.
Also a simple tune and exhaust make a huge difference compared to stock… they also make headers and long tube cold air intakes for this car now there aren’t many mods… the fastest m56 ran a 12.5 at the track
I have a 2015 Q70S 5.6 and have been trying to start upgrading for performance. Anyone know about how to get an UpRev tune? And what should I do to maximize the gains? I’ve been thinking of straight piping it. So far I’ve looked into long tube headers, UpRev tune like I mentioned before, and I’ve only installed a short ram cold air intake. I really want to see what this car is truly capable of and am open to suggestions!
As far as the tune goes, I would reach out to Admin tuning who seems to be a go too for tuning VQ platforms. However, they have tuned GTRs as well and I believe a few Sentras with the QR25 motor. Other than that there is Z1 motor sports and LOJ conversion may be able to tune it as well. Other than that everything that was mentioned in the video you can do. The differential swap is the next mod I would recommend as it is affordable and will wake up the car by improving the gearing. From there just make sure to keep it reliable and depending on your goals you can complete the mod list mentioned in the video and even go beyond that.
@@ModstarzOfficialfirst off, thank you for your reply! Were you able to confirm if the diff on the G37 would fit on a Q or M? Also is 3.3 as high as I should go as far as the FDR goes? I know you had mentioned it goes all the way to 4.36. I was thinking maybe 3.9 since I would love to see it quick off the line but I didn’t know if higher ratio would negatively impact overall top speed or if it even makes sense or if it’s even possible to go that high. Also I’m definitely going to invest in those headers possibly in the next month or two. After that I was going to go to Admin and see if they could tune it. What do you think of that? I just want to see what this baby can do you know? I want to make the ultimate sleeper! If all goes well with that I may even put a supercharger on it or maybe a TT set up 😂😂
@@Ant_AM9477 First off thank you for listening 👂🏾 🙏🏾 and you are thinking in the right mind frame for the 3.9 FDR on the 7 speed especially if you are going to keep the factory wheel size. I think 3.9 is the max for street application given you have the extra gears for cruising and if you did the valve body upgrade the shifts would be more firm and potentially shift quicker as well. The headers and tune will definitely bring more power out of the car and that may be all you need to compete with just about any common vehicle you come across (Camaro SS, 392, mustangs , Evos etc) these cars run 12s in a 1/4 mile and as mentioned Hogg modified ran 12.1 in a 1/4 mile so theoretically with a similar set up and a higher final drive as long as it does not negatively impact performance you could very well have an 11 sec car investing in few parts to get it done. If you wanted more power and trusted a machine shop to do it, I would get the heads ported or for a more budget approach port the intake manifold. The gearing on the car would be impressive in itself performing like that and not even making 500hp or 500lbft of torque to the wheels but with the extra engine mods I mentioned you could hit that mark if that was your goal. Lastly, I know Harrop superchargers in Australia has a kit for the Nissan Titan and the armada as well as the Infiniti variants. However, I do not know if the kit would fit on the m56 or the Q70 v8 and if it does would it clear the hood? And it might being a tvs style supercharger. Overall you are on the right track and this will be a great sleeper but also understand the bonus of this is that you by default are a pioneer for this platform. Please keep me posted on this and do not be afraid to reach out and ask questions. Remember 1st rule at any stage of the build or car experience is to keep it as reliable as possible. So do not forget oil coolers for transmission, engine and even an oil catch can if needed.
@@ModstarzOfficial I think so too, I have ran that race before (I have a 3.0t, not tuned) but the m56 was pretty ratted out so I’m sure it’s lost some of its juice. That race was not much of a race. Drivetrain is also an obvious factor.
The transmission in this car is absolutely horrendous. I have one and the shifts are molasses slow and the car always seems to be in the wrong gear for quick acceleration. I find myself in manual mode half the time.
@@packetattack7437 it was awful in my G35X, G37X, Maxima and now my QX70. I did look at modified valve bodies but concluded it wasn't worth the bother.
The delete will increase noise but the tune should increase power regardless of a muffler delete There is a lot of debate on muffler deletes as many experience a loss in power, where they are few who say top end power increases ( little to no evidence to support the claim) and most do it to make their vehicle louder. Never the less, if you do not mind a louder vehicle and you want to save a few bucks a muffler delete is what people do. However, based on this video have you considered swapping the differential instead of or in addition to getting your car tuned?
They are cool. If you can not find one for what ever reason, there are other vehicles that have the same engine. Some sedans, others SUV and trucks but the performance of them are pretty good it seems.
Race cars but that further proves your point doesn't it. This is a question to spark a conversation about the performance potential of this compared to well any GTR technically but in this video I mentioned a stock 2009 r35. But please share what you think. Would you consider this to upgrade and get the results without having to worry about the use of turbos?
Yes they do and to be specific, All early model 5.6L in the M and QX body from 2012-2015/16 had major issues. Chain guides as well as the high pressure fuel pump causing catastrophic engine failure. I had to do many engines and timing chains under warranty. 2016 and up the timing chain problem was resolved but the high pressure fuel pump still causes issues to this day.
@@centuriansb199 Thanks for the info, I wonder why these had issues and there are a lot of other vehicles with this engine that are on the road today including the m56.
A good amount of people have them and love them. There are solutions to problems but to further prove your point it comes down to how much time and effort one wants to put into it. And from there, it all comes down to preference.
I have a black on black 2013 m56 s awd with all the features best car ever, i have done NO modifications so far and i regularly eat mustang, camaro and challenger owners much to their chagrin😎 theres a guy on yt who put a gtr engine in the m56 says he got 500 + horses, theres another guy who has turbos setup on the rear exhausts of his m, z1 isnt only place u can get headers, there's also a joint called Cajun b Pipes in Louisiana, the new qx80 and the titan headers both fit the m56, theres also an injen cold air intake, an australian company called harrop makes a supercharger for the titan which i assume u can modify and put on the m56 since its basically the same engine, this im currently looking into, a brabus with regular badges slept me so i am out for revenge..also theres an enthusiast forum for M56's and the like on nico where u can find all kinds of information...forums.nicoclub.com/infiniti-m37-m56-q70-forum.html
Thank you for the information I wondered if the Titans parts fit, I could not get a clear answer from some companies I reached out to. And yes Harrop, I hear they are worth every penny.
