hey bro just a question, is the tactic really supposed to look like this? because u have gundogan (lcm) on cover wing and get forward and u have hamm (lf) on come back on defense... shouldnt it be the other way around? because normally u have come back on defende on the striker on the side where the cm is cover center so it defends in a 442. also, why would gundogan get forward and zico which is a striker cover center? i hope u can help me understand. thanks and keep up the great work man

He answered this its all about attacking in a uniqe shape you can switch the cf but it will make the formation more defensive but he wants this to be an attacking formation.

Try using a lil more defensive and put pressure after possession loss. I think is a good way to use this tactic too bc u can overload the ball side, but ur team need to be a lil tall so the person can’t get many inversions

Just tried this in div 2 rivals. Im getting +60 possession and im not playing for it deliberately , it just dominates with the high line. Werner, Big Al O and Openda up front is ultimate sweat for the opposition to face 😂

Great content as always. Question tho - This has always been set up as defending in a 4-4-2, however with your Left CF on Come back, and your Left CM being on cover wing, this doesn't match up... Is that deliberate?

yes it’ll still defend in a 442, just in a slightly different shape. once your players are slightly out of position and your left CM starts moving more centrally to accommodate for any other moved players, your LF will take that position and turn it into a full 442 defensive shape. the goal is just for the LF to be ready for quick counter attacks and immediate passing triangles by having him come back

bro are you sure you didnt mixed the CFs or CMs? because in the vid you have the CF with come back on the same side as the cover wing CM, and the CM with cover center on the other side.. so I dont get how they are supposed to lineup on D.. or I miss something? keep up the great work

I switched them to compromise the defensive shape a little bit in order to offer a unique shape on the transition to offense. The LF coming short for the ball to their feet in order to turn around and run in conjunction with a overlapping LB and an attacking CM offers quick attacking options If a consistent defensive shape is preferred over the different attacking options, you can switch the LF and RF's defensive instructions, it'll just make the formation slightly more defensive oriented and I personally make tactics that prioritize attack over defense

Just tried this out and in possession it's fantastic but without the ball my middle CM gets pushed out wide and my right CM plays in the middle. Should this be happening?

yeah the box to box and the middle CM are effectively a double pivot so they will swap spots around sometimes. there’s only one solution which is to put the box to box on “cover wing” but that changes too much stuff. unfortunately those are just the limitations with custom tactics

this can happen if your central cm has a lower defensive awareness stat in comparison to your right cm.

I had bruno on stay back too and it’s hard to pick one tbh. Bruno’s defending was very good but makelele is even better, while bruno’s playmaking and passing was insane and makeleles was okay at best. Tbh I only put makelele for chem, otherwise bruno is honestly better

yes but literally the only reason is because i want gundo to have the finesse shot chances in attack. that position puts them at the corner of the box so it’s perfect for finesse

i have found defensively it works better if you switch put the cf thats on your balanced cm side on come back on defense and other cf on get forward cover wing cm side on stay central get in behind

I think there is a fault in this tactic. If your left wing is on get back on defence, your right cm should be on cover wing.

Nope, his tactic is better because it makes it easier for your CF to take his position when attacking. If your LCM is on cover center it forces your come back CF to mark the wing which makes it difficult for the CF to retain that center position during counter attack

I'll be a testament of this formation and tactic. I took a team of all American players no one other than Morgan(92) and evo'd future stars Girma, was higher than an 89, including used an 80 in evo silver card, up against a meta team that parked the bus and just used that broken Balotelli card on counter attacks. I won. I am not good at this game, I play it for fun thus I ran a team of just US players. So if this formation and tactic can get me a W against meta defenses...you folk who take this game serious have no excuse.
