@@josephnagle3852 urlgeni.us/amzn/GBAF I left the link above so you can check out the lock. It’s a really easy install, we feel like it gave us more security in our RV as well 🙂 Take care Joseph! Hope we hear from you again soon!! - Kyle and Renee
Love my RV Lock and my inline Progressive surge protector. For the RV Lock, I added a combo lockbox, attached under my outside stairs, to put my spare key into. I had the same concern as you guys about having the battery die at the wrong time. That hasn't happened yet, but I'm prepared for when it does. As for the surge protector, I took the little error code card you showed and used clear packing tape to kind of laminate it onto the wall near the display. That way it's always handy when I need to look something up. As usual, you guys have provided a lot of great tips for people. Keep it going! Cheers.
Hey Tom! Nice job on both of them! Aren't they amazing?? That's a really good idea to have the lock box, we should invest in one of those. I will let Renee know, thanks for the inside scoop :) Also a really nice idea to laminate the error code card. Man you got lots of good ones! Thank you for these amazing suggestions Tom! We really appreciate you stopping by to hang with us! Cheers friend 😁
Hi friends. The pantry light is a must. We've not done it yet but it is on our list. Just got our RV lock today. Excited to get it installed. Glad to see that it's not too difficult or time consuming to get it in.
Hey guys! Yes, we love the pantry lights for sure :) Nice job on the RV Lock! Let us know how you like it, we love ours. Hope ya'll are doing well! Much love from the Hanks family ❤️
Lots of GREAT ideas here. WOW my favs are (in no particular order) keyless entry, lights in the pantry, surge protector, enlarging the basement. GREAT show guys! Always something to learn with you guys!
I wonder if JD from Big Truck Big RV watched your video. He just put out a video this week about expanding his storage space exactly like you did. I love the tips. One of the things I've been thinking about since I'm wanting to buy my RV in a few months is upgrades that I can do on my own. The built in surge protector will go to the top of the list. I also love the LED lights for the pantry. I think I would have to do that for closets as well. I think I would laminate that surge protector code card and attach it to the interior of the cabinet door so it's readily accessible. You two are quickly becoming my favorite channel. You really make the learning fun and entertaining. Greetings from Logan and me in Peru!
You guys are so awesome 🙂🙌🏼😊 Give Logan extra love for us, we are so thankful for your support!! I would be curious to know if JD has heard of us too.. he has a really substantial community that he has built, big props to him! I think you would really enjoy the inline surge protector, the added protection is well worth the value 😃
Great video, guys!!! Love all of the modifications, especially that sink!! We love your rig. It's so nice and cozy. 😍 Thanks for sharing with us!! We miss you two!!!
Awww thank you guys!! YES!! Isn't that sink the coolest?? Love that we don't have to turn on lights in the middle of the night to wash our hands. You guys are always welcome to come visit and stay in the cozy RV 😉 We miss you guys too, much love to you both!! - Kyle and Renee
Love you both! Most precious young couple! You are our children’s age . One of our kids is graduating next month from Medical school and we have told her about you- go nurses!! So proud of you both and her 👍
Lori you are so awesome ❤️ we can’t express how much this means to us We are so happy for you and your family. Medical school is a HUGE accomplishment! We need more great medical professionals, so happy to hear about this! It’s always wonderful hearing from you Lori, much love to you. Hope to catch up more soon, cheers! 🙂 - Kyle and Renee
@@HappilyEverHanks Please let us know if you are in the Chattanooga TN area. She will be a general surgery resident beginning in July. Also, we live in NE Alabama near Huntsville . That's wonderful to hear Lori! You must be so proud of them 🤗Please thank them for what they do for us! As two medical professionals, we have much respect for them Stay safe, much love from the Hanks family ❤️
Yeah the keyless entry into the RV was an aftermarket piece that we put in about a year ago. Definitely nice, kinda just spoils us ya know? 😉 Thank you so much for stopping by Stef!! We miss you guys already!! - Kyle and Renee
Oooo love those pantry lights! We've been talking about getting a surge protector, and I didn't even realize they made in-line ones. It's nice that it's located so conveniently in the coat room 😂😂😂 Great video, guys!
Yay! The pantry lights have been such an amazing addition into the RV :) Yeah the inline ones are super sweet! It is nice to plug into shore power and then have the surge protector immediately evaluating and protecting is worth while. Gotta love that coat closet, room, space 😂 Thank you guys so much!! ❤️ - Kyle and Renee
We have done A couple of those mods ourselves too! When we changed from the unit similar to yours to the 345 the lighting issue in the pantry went away, except we switched The switches of the desk light with the pantry light (they had them reversed 🙄) So my favorite is the door locks because I never know where my keys are LOL. My husband put in a guard dog surge protector. After we left it hanging from an RV site he figured out how to mount it in the basement 😁. Some of my favorite other mods are putting dimmer switches in the bathroom bedroom and main living room light 💖 And changing how the outside undercarriage lights were wired (separated the From the underneath lights) and made them dimmable as well. That way you can have a little light on the ground (to deter critters) without putting too much light out to neighbors who want to see the sky ✨🌟
Yes!! So glad to hear about all of these mods 😀 the surge protector has been so nice to have for peace of mind. The RVLock is really convenient right?? 😁🙌🏼 we always seem to be losing or forgetting our keys as well Never thought about the dimmer switch mods, were they a hard install for y’all?
Nice video. Our RVlock took us ten minutes and we had it for two years now and haven’t changed any batteries yet so I’ll say they last long( and I use the key fab a lot ) great job guys
Hey! That is great information to know! They need to start putting the RV locks on at the factory 👍🏼 Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! ~Renee and Kyle
Hey Stacy 🙂👋🏼 thank you so much! The pantry lighting has been a huge help and the extra space in the basement is worth it. Hope you are staying warm ❤️ - Renee and Kyle
Love, ❤️ the modifications, plan on updating our rig as well. We also want to say Thanks Hanks for all your great insights and information on RV Life, it has helped us and encouraged us.
Always great videos! We added the keyless entry to our RV as well and love it. We have the Progressive 50AMP plug in unit and are thinking about upgrading, may wait until I forget our current one at one of the campgrounds...you know it's bound to happen haha. In our storage bay we took out the removable panel by the wet bay and put up a HD vehicle cargo net so I can see behind the wet bay panel and check for leaks, I also installed an LED back behind the wet bay panel so we can see the water pump and all of the fittings without needing a flashlight or head lamp. The net has worked great so far. Thank you for your help with the canvass pictures yesterday!
Aww thank you guys! Are you talking about "leaving your current one at the campground" 😉LOL That is an amazing idea! After we had our pipes freeze on us, I need quick access to monitor back there for any burst pipes. I am sure that helps the airflow as well throughout the entire underbelly! We have an underpass LED light, but it isn't super bright. Might need to install some more 🤔Always more upgrades to be had if you are looking!!
Absolutely! The canvas photos have been some of our favorite decor items to add into our RV! We love them and it really is awesome that they don't break haha Are you guys living in your RV full time right now? - Kyle and Renee
We love our RV lock just added them to the doors on the passthrough and programed both locks to one button on the remote. So both passthrough locks lock and unlock with one click.
That is incredible and we know someone who did the same! That is a lot of installs, I remember the video you did on that! So much convenience! Thanks for watching and the comment! Safe travels! ~Renee and Kyle
Lifestyles of the rich and the famous y’all! Errbody getting an LED! That rig is super swanky..that door lock makes ours look like the wire you use on a loaf of bread. You know the one that always falls off the countertop and you just tie a knot in the bag?!? Y’all living right 🤙
Gotta stay up with the trends yo! 😎🤙🏼 LOL You are the second person I have heard this week use that term! Renee and I just found the term "bougie". We are having a hard time keeping up with the hip terms 😂 LOL You guys are the bees knees, get yourself one of these locks and stay swanky bro beans 😄 fo sho
Oh, one other thing that makes the RV Lock so great is its security. Most people don't know that there are only a handful of keyed locks that are used on RVs. This means that it is very easy for someone to have a key that matches yours, or that they may have been able to get ahold of a master key, as they use at the RV lots. The storage bay locks are almost all the same too.
Yes, couldn't agree more! That added security makes it all worth while. I definitely heard that about the storage compartments as well. Isn't that crazy how so few key formations they have?? Lol You would think they would make more! All the more reason to invest in an RVLock :)
Just having to say how much we both love your vids guys. I've now got Stephanie binging on them, even when I didn't start the binging!!!! Gotcha another fan! (She's a lot less demented than I am too....)
Thank you guys so much for your AWESOME support!! 😃Love this insight that you guys have! We definitely need to remove our beep 🤣Keep these great comments coming, you guys mean so much!!
I like the lock idea the most (but the others are great!) Why? We do the same thing at our house. My son has never lost his keys because he has never HAD a set of keys. He has a code to the lock. If the batteries die I have the key but, it’s never been a problem. Just replace the batteries before they die (the model we have in our house door beeps when the battery is getting low, YMMV.) The pantry lights are cool. My son has a bunch of those strips in his room, he can control the colors, he’d be all into modding out cabinets (etc.) using them I’m sure! Already have the surge protector on my wishlist. A Keystone Cougar is on my shortlist, in no small part due to the electrical system/controls. Spending a few hundred to protect that system is a no-brainer! Same with the pressure regulator from the other video. Cheap, easy, and so obviously useful in preventing major problems! Loving your channel! I owe you two lunch if we ever run into each other on the road!
We hope that we can meet you soon Michael!! You sound like such a wonderful person 😊 these are some really great points! We really appreciate you taking the time to write all of this feedback, it’s great to read ❤️ Much love to you from the Hanks family!! Keep these wonderful comments coming
Yay! love a good, clean basement! It's totally crazy how little lights come stocked in the pantry to begin with! Thank you guys! We miss ya'll!! - Renee and Kyle
The pantry lights have been such a nice upgrade for sure! We are glad we didn't wait any longer to install them 😄Thank you so much for stopping by, we appreciate ya'll!! - Kyle and Renee
Love the pantry lights. Danny loves The surge protector. We actually stayed at one place where we brought ours in at night time because we were afraid to leave it out overnight. Afraid it would not be there in the morning. A while house one would be great! Thanks for sharing. Lynn and Danny
Wow where was the area that you brought the surge protector inside if you don't mind me asking?? We've been to places like that were we make sure we locked everything up! Thanks for watching and the comment! ❤️ You guys are killing it with the subs! ~Renee and Kyle
@@HappilyEverHanks we were in north Birmingham Alabama. We were meeting Danny's brother, so we tried to get close. It was all that was available. We won't be staying again. Lol. And thanks, we are really trying!
Leah and I were discussing a better surge protection system the other day. I don't think I'm brave enough to try that myself, so we'll end up hiring someone! The RV lock was one of the easiest installs I've ever tried, love that thing! Did you guys do the storage compartments as well? It's killer to have just one key for everything!
Yeah it's a little more in depth for sure with having to cut the main power line in half and then integrating the in line surge protector. Its like..."here we go!" LOL Cutting the main power in half can be a little unnerving 😱Yeah the RV Lock has been so incredible, nice having convenience for sure! We didn't do the storage compartments yet. We have a "Key-A-Like" for our Solitude which is one key to rule them all so to speak. We have just been rocking that for now :) Thank you guys so much for stopping by!! Always great hearing from ya 😊- Kyle and Renee
We have actually done some of these. We use motion lights in the pantry, we have the keyless lock but not the internal surge protector. We are also working on the storage area. We put hinges on one of the panels to make for easy access. I have also done some redo's on the inside. Took off shower doors, replaced with expandable shower curtain rod and shower curtain. Took off the mirrored closet doors and hung up cool curtains! Took out dining table and added two small folding desks! And hung curtains! Got rid of a lot of weight.
The motion lights would be so nice to have! Do you guys like the keyless lock? Convenient upgrades like that make all the difference! You know that really is a lot of weight! Those glass doors and dining table add up. What kind of rig are you living in??
@@charlenebogard3701 that’s awesome! The toilet is high on our list as well 😁👍🏼 they have some nice ones out there to get! Thank you for stopping by and commenting, it was great hearing from you ❤️
@@HappilyEverHanks We did add a continuous water heater!! Oh how I love it but it cause my gray tank to fill quickly as we tend to take longer showers :)
Yes! They have been really great upgrades. I know that the RV Lock manufacturer also makes the ones for the storage bays as well. Definitely pays to have the convenience and securement :) Always so many upgrades to be had and so little time LOL
Ahhhhhh!!! Upgrades!!!!!!!! Yyyeessssss!!!!! Lol. The options are endless! Great upgrades! Functionality always Improves satisfaction!! Love Them all!!!
@@HappilyEverHanks Those are just some of the good times!! Just wait to see what comes next! Hello Hanks. nice to see you. Like the upgrades My Jayco came with the pantry LED strip lighting. The light up faucet is nice, and I've been looking at Surge protectors and i will be looking into the two you have. Luckily, I have a brother-n-law who is an electrician and that's always good. HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY never thought about going to Pigeon Forge in the rain LOL but how cool is that no lines for the rides and no line for food it's a win win. Now I would sign up for your newsletter, but my wife and I aren't full time RV'ers YET. when we get close to that time, I will sign up then if you still have it. #Thankshanks for the info and upgrade ideas and laughs, Dj Dex has some good beats. Go Dj Dex. stay safe, safe travels. see you all in the next video.
Thank you! It's amazing how much extra room and empty space we found behind the pass-through paneling. Being able to push that back opened up a lot more room. Now I need to figure out what to do with the dead space from the floor to the ceiling of the pass-through 🤔Maybe shelves or something related to that - Kyle and Renee
Wow! So Jayco is stepping it up and making the RV's come with the pantry lighting already done!? Awesome!! I don't know why this isn't just the normal thing to include?? You guys deserve it!! So happy for you both :)
Thank you!! We absolutely love the pantry lights as well..it really helps to be able to see in there 😂 What you saw was our christmas lights that we haven't taken down yet 😱 Don't judge us too hard LOL
The pantry lights are awesome, a really good idea. I just reach in and whatever I grab out is what we are having for dinner, lol. And the built in surge protector is so useful. We have an external one, but a built in one would be pretty handy. Thanks for sharing all your upgrades. I am impressed :) Debbie - BluWave Odyssey
Thank you so much! Yeah it has been really nice having the surge protector hidden an safe from the elements and potential theft, it’s also nice not having to plug it in! So happy to hear from you Debbie as always 😁👍🏼 much love to you and Bob - Kyle and Renee

RV Lock is amazing right?! We finally started using the key fob and that opened up a whole new world as well. Being able to carry a ton of groceries in and not having to punch in the code made it really convenient 😃Great to hear from you Angela!!
It's definitely worth the investment 🙂 We love having the added security and convenience! Let us know if you end up getting one, would love to hear your thoughts on it
Whoop! Whoop! Love the new "Mods!" We have the RV lock and love it. I also moved the wall in my pass-thru... yeah baby.. tons more room! Ours already had the pantry lights and it's a hit as well! But..... we had a portable surge protector that came with the rv but it quit working... went back to Progressive and they stated since it was on a used unit they could not warranty it (Booooooooo!)...so... I'm going to think about another brand and inline it as well. I'll keep you posted. Hey.... where's the tip of the day???? Anyway.. Great info , once again. Thanks for all that you do for us RV'ers!
Thank you Lawrence!! Isn’t that crazy how much extra room you can gain by pushing that wall back under the pass through?? So nice to hear your RV came with the pantry lights! You would think that would be standard because those pantries are big and things can get dark in there! Lol Not cool that progressive would not warranty it 😔 What kind of RV model do you guys own?? - Kyle and Renee
That's right, I couldn't figure out what model Solitude you guys had. I remember walking through before you guys came over. We want a bunkhouse now like you guys so that we can have an office space! So nice 😱 Hope you and Debbie are doing well, much love to you both - Kyle and Renee
I have to mention, I cannot express enough how much your idea of the pool noodles under the slide outs has helped to reduce a draft in the RV. I can't imagine what other neat tricks you have come up with! Thank you so much Larry, you have helped save us a lot of money this winter. Best to you and Debbie - Kyle and Renee
Your pantry lights look amazing and I’m totally doing that to our rv. Also the door lock is cool. I should have watched your videos before I bought some of the other stuff haha.
LOL it's all good Cale! We know the feeling all too well with the purchases 😅 You totally should! Sorry we weren't able to see ya again before ya'll left, it was fun hanging out with you guys. At least we can stay in touch here! Then when we visit Georgia again, we can meet up 😃

#ThanksHanks. loved this episode. Great tips and upgrade suggestions.I will keep these in mind once I finally purchase my GD Momentum G29 plus I will be upgrading to the Furrion tankless water heater first thing.
@@HappilyEverHanks we got a F350 dually 4X4, with an 8 foot bed. I wanted stability, so it’s what I chose. Ford also put the fifth wheel in it. We did all of this by texting & email. I have never bought a vehicle like that but it’s hard to do much when your in Guam working
I have the external surge protection that is the same type as the internal. At some point, I would love to install the inline internal surge protector so that i do not have to worry about plugging and storing. Thanks for the share
Yeah for sure! It’s nice to have the convenience of the inline surge protector for sure :) thank you so much for stopping by! We really appreciate it 🙂👍🏼 - Kyle and Renee
No we owned a travel trailer that was a 30 amp before we owned our current 50 amp fifth wheel. We did this install on our previous travel trailer...so we included both products just in case so everyone could pick which was applicable :) We only did the 50 amp inline surge protector on this rig
Yes, I loved this video! You guys have so many helpful ideas. We just bought our 1st RV, a GD Imagine XLS 22MLE 😊 I THINK we need this Progressive Industry electrical device??? BUT does it replace needing a "Hughes Autoformers PWD30-EPO, 30 Amp Spike Power Watchdog" that plugs in outside at the power post??? 🤔 THX & Cheers, Eric
I find it really interesting how everyone is so different. I just watched your video on unnecessary things. Some of those were near essential but definitely were pretty important making life easier, then I watch this and think the RVLock, LED strip lights and a light-up faucet, would fall into the nice-to-have list but certainly are in the unnecessary list.
Hey there! Yes, it varies so much, this video is a video in regards to if you are looking for upgrades after owning an RV. The previous video is in regard to what you actually need to start traveling in an RV. Two totally different topics 😃We appreciate your feedback!! Hope we can hear from you again soon!
So...that surge protector sounds like a great idea but if you are not handy with wiring is it easy to do or should we get someone to do it for us? Love the lighting idea too!!! I'm thinking that someone is good with electric stuff?
The wiring seemed a little intuitive from my stand point. I was able to do the work myself, but underneath the supervision of my friend to walk me through it. I would seek out someone that is good with electrical stuff. Also I left a link below that has an external surge protector option, if that might be an option for you? Let us know your thoughts! 😃 urlgeni.us/amzn/4rVx
Me again….😜 Love the info on surge protector. (Luckily I have a nephew that’s an electrician…so I think I’ll have him install - I don’t look good with a perm 😳) and definitely with Nay-Nay…on the pantry light …nothing worse than looking into the great dark abyss 🤬🤬 Was that hard to run through the switch? Would love that convenience…but again…me and perms 🤢
Thank you! The surge protector was such a great upgrade 😁Really nice to have the peace of mind that it provides! The dark abyss was daunting for sure, we couldn't find anything!! It was not hard at all, we actually just spliced it into the original 12v wiring that was already in the pantry. We didn't do any work on the pantry light switch 🙂
We really like the pantry lights! How did you get the LED lights to work with your light switch? We are planning on getting RV locks for the door and the bay doors. We love that sink faucet. That is so awesome that it lights up! Does it light up different colors too?
Yeah the pantry lights are so sweet!! Definitely worth the upgrade :) I had to splice the LED lights into the 12V wiring. That way they turned on whenever the original pantry light turned on. The sink has been amazing. It’s so nice not having to turn on lights in the middle of the night to wash your hands haha It just lights up the blue color, still really cool :) you should see it at night 🤩
Hey you guys! Do you use laundry strips to do your laundry? I started using them to cut down on the plastic and what a great space saver for the rv! And the package is recyclable cardboard.
Hey Joseph! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us 🙂 We actually just tapped into the original 12 V pantry light. It was a matter of splicing the wiring together and then feeding it up and behind the ceiling above the pantry. We would say the hardest part of the install, was hiding the wiring to make it look professional so to speak (not messy). The LED light bars are held in place by metallic strips that clip in the LED strips. Very minimal drilling to hold the strips in place which was nice 😊 How have you been?
Nice mods, we have been all LED on lighting for 20 yrs but have always had to add lighting. I suspect RV designers never actually use them LOL Not sure about the tap light and we do not use shore power so no problems there LOL but I do have a 12v system monitor though.
Thank you Desmond! Yeah we suspect the same thing lol that is great you have the monitor! The LED lighting is really nice, no shortage of upgrades to be had :)
Pantry? What's that? One day when I grow up, I'll buy a bigger rig (ours is only 30 ft.) and there is no way to increase storage space and we have no pantry. 30-ft. might seem like a lot but really, sometimes I have to go outside to change my mind. Thanks for your thoughts, guys! :-) Love your channel.
Lol totally hear ya on that! Hey at least you have a flexible length on the RV! 😁👍🏼 seems like you would be able to have more options and get into some tighter spaces while out on the road!! So awesome!
Love the LED lights but we boondocks so often, I'm probably going to look for a 12 volt version. It sure does look nice though and the aluminum mounting strip that goes with...you didn't talk about that at all. It is pricey but I assume it makes the install easy peasy?
Hey Sean 😃👋🏼These are spliced into the 12 volt system, so they work while boondocking! That's awesome to hear about your boondocking, we want to get into this realm more! Sounds like you have a lot of knowledge with that style of RV'ing The install wasn't bad at all, the aluminum channels were an easy placement. The hardest part was feeding the wire behind the previous pantry light, in order to splice all the wiring together 🙂 What kind of RV are you traveling in?
@@HappilyEverHanks awesome to hear those pantry lights are tapped into 12 volt. Any thought to doing how to videos? Just a thought because clearly you guys know how to enhance your RV crib to pro levels. We are in a 2021 Jayco Whitehawk bunkhouse wine we have 2 kiddos. We dry camp when needed but prefer full hookups since it makes for easier camping with the toddler.
Yeah we definitely should have filmed this when putting in the pantry lights. When we did the initial install, we weren’t doing RU-vid at the time and it totally didn’t even cross my mind to film the install process lol Would love to start making more in depth how to videos. We haven’t done tons of upgrades to the rig, but if we do anymore in the future we definitely will be making those That’s a beautiful rig you guys have by the way! Getting ready to install the same rv lock you have on the same rv you have. Did you have any difference in the size of the lock and the size of the cut out in the door? Just wondering if we have to paint or touch up.
Howdy, regarding the EMS & apologies if its beeen brought up aleady, it appears your unit is equiped with a bypass. However I have seen some comments questioning the purpose of the bypass. Most inverter type generators have a floating ground, aka "no ground". Once disconnected from shore power & deep into the wild blue yonder, the trusty genset rumbles to life....& the fault code reads "open ground"...no power. The good news is its an easy fix if folks are awareof the issue. A grounding plug can either be made inexpensively or purchased. (you can leave a link in the description). Hanks, hanks a lot.
Also, the Progressive industries has an override switch on the digital readout panel that you can have it connect to the power ... if you choose, even though it has detected an issue.
Do you guys have a video that could teach me how you made the transition to go full time. This is my dream but not sure if I have considered all the steps?
ah yes, the most formal of rooms. the coat room. lol loved it guys. I wonder what the idea was behind the single light above in the pantry, maybe they just expect people to upgrade it themselves? like you said the light won't get past that first shelf really so....? I have a question about the storage underneath. Would you ever be worried about opening up too much room and maybe having issues putting heavy items in a place where they shouldn't be. Like messing up the towing balance kind of thing? It didn't look like you had opened up enough room for it to be a problem but maybe on different models?
LOL I couldn't think what the name of the darn thing was!! 😂 Yeah, we never understood why they only put a single light up there? Super strange... Just as long as you consider where the weight is being placed. For example, if the weight is distributed in front of the front axle, all of that weight is being placed into the truck for sustainability. Therefore you have to consider payload. If you were to place all of the weight in the back, you have to consider weight distribution over the axles and take into account that you are going to have more sway while driving which can be dangerous for sure.
Hopefully that makes sense? It totally is a great question! It just comes down to weight distribution and understanding the payload of your truck and GVWR of the fifth wheel itself (not overloading the fifth wheel beyond it's weight capacities).
@@HappilyEverHanks Yeah, I wish more people would watch the weight of whatever they are towing, watching people tow trailers or whatever while their truck is basically bottoming out from the weight is so dangerous.
