I asked a Force sales head in the region, the expectation is the new model with engine upgrade is to happen on March or April 2024

Yes, brother! You’re very right! That’s the expectation now. There have been multiple delays. Let’s hope there isn’t another 😊

I love how old school this vehicle is! Manual levers for 4x4 and diff locks are preferable over dials and buttons. The only issues I see are the performance, ground clearance and weight. Yeah, the interior could be better designed too. Of course, this car is out of my budget so I will stick to the Jimny.
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 8 месяцев назад
Yes, gotta love the manual touches ☺️🤗. Indeed, the ground clearance is a problem, I agree ☺️ The weight, I’ve felt in the near 2 years of driving, gives it a very steady stance. Couple that with slightly reduced articulation, there’s very little body roll, which is a treat. As for performance, if you mean the bhp, I know the lower power figures don’t impress much, but believe me it has a very zippy lower end that’s just enough for overtaking in the city and racing up inclines in the hills. And, hopefully you’d agree that one doesn’t need their off-roader to be a sprinter but a steady trooper that stays grounded as shuffles along solidly. ☺️
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 8 месяцев назад
The jimny is very agile, I must say. Surely you’re having a ball with it ♥️
@twowheeledparadox
@twowheeledparadox 8 месяцев назад
@@MohitsGoodStuffReviews The weight probably adds to stability. When I mentioned the performance, I meant acceleration to highway speeds and not the power figure per se. Also, I am looking at the performance in the context of the Gurkha's on-road price. I know that this engine has a lot of low-down torque and would be very easy to drive in the city and in the hills when driven like a diesel should be. A diesel engine is never about power but torque right from idle. Even the Jimny is not very fast but fortunately I was able to get it with the December discount. Yes, it is quite charming and old school too and I love that. I can hear gear-whine (likely from the transfer case) all the time! It is reasonably agile and that complements its narrow body. The turning radius is too large, though. For the right price, I would not mind having a Gurkha in my garage in orange or bright red! It just begs to be taken on an overland trip way more than the Thar!
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 8 месяцев назад
Lovely inputs, brother! Yes, the gear whine is such a reminiscent of the yesteryear 😊 And am delighted by your predilection for the Gurkha 😊 Yes, indeed, it is an exclusive overlander because the throttle does begin to wane post 80kmph. But yes, in its element, which is the terrain, it’s a paragon! I’d love to give you a good price for mine once the 5 door is out. Alas, despite the fact that it’s been cared for like a baby, it’s not either of the colours you’re looking for 😊
@twowheeledparadox
@twowheeledparadox 8 месяцев назад
@@MohitsGoodStuffReviews Ha! Thanks but my Jimny is still new so I intend to extract maximum value out of it before I buy another vehicle. All the best for the 5-door!

Needs a new engine. At least something comparable to Thar. Also, last time I checked, they were still using those levers to lock the differential. People used to do that 40-50 years back probably.

Yep, yep! It’s a dinosaur for sure! 😀 Would actually be nice if something’s done about the engine and the painfully rigid diff lock levers! You’re right!

One big glitch you did not include is driver seat height can not be adjusted so far in gurkha. Has this problem also been worked in 6.2?
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 10 месяцев назад
You’re right, dear sir! The height-adjust feature is indeed missing! Well, haven’t heard anything exclusive on the same, but let’s hope that with all the creature comfort upgrades, this very practical and necessary feature is also introduced! ☺️ I’ll try to find out more on this as well 👍😊

Hope they go with more power & more ground clearance atleast this time .... upgrade from 40years old Mercedes-Benz OM616 engine to OM611 or OM646 or any engine.
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews Год назад
Well you can certainly count on the greater ground clearance, brother, because that’s been conspicuously evident in the test mule running the roads; you’re right, it’s badly needed! Power should indeed get a bump-up! True about the engine, too! An engine upgrade is much needed to get rid of the clunky gear shifts! Well, fingers crossed, but from what I’m hearing from dealerships, there will most likely be things to renounce with the 6.2! Amen 🙏

Sir what do you think about Gurkha 5door can it beat That 5 door in terms of comfort and off-road and replace Thar's Legacy
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 5 месяцев назад
Replace Thar’s legacy? Not happening, dear friend! 😊 Although I love the Gurkha to death, in order to replace thar, force needs to have a much wider sales and service network, but comparing Mahindra and Force is like having an elephant and ant stand pitted against each other! 😊 So that may not happen. Mahindra are global and everywhere while Force is still struggling to maintain a sufficient parts inventory! Having said that, if we imagine a scenario where, lets say, Force were even halfway decent, for instance, having a network presence similar to that of Hyundai, or Honda, or Tata, or kia, I would say Force had a fair shot because it has some inherent design advantages which the thar misses out on. To begin with, it is established that Gurkha is immensely more comfortable of the two with its large airy cabin and delightful recliner seats, and the ability in the 3-door version to let the rear passengers in from the back door. Although with a slightly stiffer suspension, the Gurkha’s ride quality is smooth as that of a Volvo bus! The extra weight helps in that department, too! Finally the manual diff locks are still charming and not to mention highly efficient in getting you out of a sticky situation! So yeah, without dragging further, I’d say the product is formidable, but the poor after-sales network, if not fixed, will never let the Gurkha surpass the thar despite Gurkha’s stellar off-road capabilities and that ever reliable Mercedes derived engine! Let’s hope they serious get after the Gurkha and lift it to a higher, more competitive pedestal! 😊

Just higher ground clearance, and greater articulation - only that much required for me... If they get back the solid rigid axle back..everything will be solved...
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 11 месяцев назад
Totally agree! If they even work on those, the car will be a winner! Aesthetics can always be overlooked for performance… they, rather, should be! Increased articulation will definitely make it more capable on the terrain, with just a slight trade-off in stability on the highway. But then again, an off-roader is meant to shine in the terrain even if it comes at the cost of some unneeded city performance! The solid rigid axle would actually be great news! 😊

What about automatic and petrol engine?
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews 11 месяцев назад
Well, as far as the grapevine goes, Ayush, the company hasn’t shown any intent of introducing automatic transmission; Petrol engine seems extremely unlikely because the company has only 1 diesel engine that fits all vehicles: a most unusual scenario but it’s been working for them and it’s made them lazy! In fact, now the news is that the new model will land somewhere around next year! 😢 The wait continues!

They create useless hype stating "Gwagen inspired" but the fact is it is not even 0.00000000000001% close to Gwagen, at least they should have copied the design properly to make it close to Gwagen just as they did with the Traveler van, which looks more civilized and close to Sprinter van

compare Gurkha G wagon sourced engine with Mohindra thar engine
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews Год назад
I would love to, dear brother 😊 However that’s been done many times over on RU-vid and auto journals. The Mercedes-derived FM 2.6 CR engine needs no testimony to its reliability. It’s a proven engine that has stood the test of time! Force travellers are all you see in the Himalayas. Having said that, the Mahindra mHawk and mStallion engines are remarkably more refined and advanced, no question there! Speaking of reliability, neither engines will break down in tough conditions. However, with more power and torque, the mahindra engines should definitely be the enthusiast’s choice because the impressive 130 bhp and 150 bhp figures (MT and AT respectively) and the boggling torque of 300 to 320 nm on the Thar make it ideal for enthusiastic driving! However, if someone’s like me who is happy with less speed and more average, Gurkha is certainly the way to go. Even at 90 bhp, the Gurkha never failed me, tough terrain or cities. And oh yes, despite being dated and old, Gurkha’s engine is the more environmentally conscious, which reflects in the fact that it passed the bs6 norms without having the need to use AdBlue! So you see, the comparison here is not fair. We’d be comparing apples and oranges really! Both machines are winners; it’s just a matter of choice and priorities! 😊 Hope I helped 🙏

@MohitsGoodStuffReviews
@MohitsGoodStuffReviews Год назад
Aap theek keh rahe hain, but sochiye pehle hi weight bahut hai; agar itna powerful kar diya to mileage to 6-7 par aa jayegi!. Vaise ise 1.5 years chalane ke baad maine paya hai ke diff locks hone ki wajah se ye 90 bhp aur 260 nm torque mein bhi bahut kuch kar leti hai, wo bhi aaram se! Ise maine bahut push kiya hai ladakh aur Spiti mein aur ye hamesha khari utri hai. Engine ki tuning current power figures ke hisab se acchi hai! Haan agar kahin compromise hai to wo hai acceleration mein. Aap bhi agree karenge ke off roader race ya bhagane ke liye to hoti nahin 😊. Currently average bhi 12 ki de rahi hai jo bahut achhi hai for a vehicle this heavy. Mere hisab se max 130 bhp aur 300 nm ka torque sufficient hai. Mahindra ne glamour aur sales ke liye Thar ko overpower kar rakha hai jab ki off-roading pe power aur skill ka 50/50 role rehta hai. 👍 What do you say brother? 🤗
