Summed Up:: Effective Thinking Elements: -Understand deeply Take one subject that you want to become an expert in, or you think you are an expert in and write down the core concepts. Can you explain each and every one of them fully and in-depth (answer honestly)? If not, here’s where you start building your foundation of learning by filling in the gaps for that topic. -Make mistakes One of the mindset tricks I absolutely loved in the book can be applied here. Before you start anything: a blog post, an eBook, a client pitch, assume you are going to fail at it 9 times in a row, but on the 10th you’ll get it right. This frees your mind from the negative thinking around making a mistake, and for each failure, you do have, you’re actually making forward progress towards getting it right. -Raise questions Become an effective questioner. The next time you encounter someone who knows about something that interests you (in person, over Skype, or even in a blog post comment), ask them a question. The key here is to frame your questions so that they help you take action or clarify your understanding of the topic, these are some of the skills of active listeners. -Follow the flow of ideas The next time you have to write something, just bang it out, in the words of author Anne Lamott: “Write sh**ty rough drafts.” Don’t worry about spelling or grammar, or even if it makes sense. Get it on paper. Now you have a base from which you can follow the flow of ideas and improve. -Change Remember, change takes time, it doesn’t happen overnight. Work on putting each of the four elements into practice, if it feels overwhelming at first then just pick one. Start by asking questions or being ok with making lots of mistakes. Over time, include additional elements as you see fit, it will all add up to a positive change in the way you approach thinking and learning.

1. Earth: break problems down into its core components & understand them deeply. Keep asking what other subcomponents of this problem do I need to understand? -Try to make a mental map 1:05 2. Air: Perspective-Changing Questions. "What if I..?" - 2:25 3. Fire: "How can you make and correct more mistakes" / "What specifically went wrong, and how can you do it better?" - 3:59 4. Water: Gradually iterate from an original thought/prototype improving it at every new version & building on what's working - 4:52 5. Quintessential element: Constantly change/evolve: Thoughts, believes, habits. Be a lifelong learner - 6:32

You're doing a great service to humanity, (and for yourself of course, consistently reading and thoroughly summarising books definitely makes you retain most of them incredibly well). I'm not exaggerating it at all.

Hi. I bumped upon your channel a few weeks back and I love the videos you create. Thanks for the same. I loved the visual presentation part. I want to make an animation video something like this for my wife for our anniversary next month. Are there apps or easy to do softwares to do it? Can you share the details of the one you use. Thanks 😊

Embodying your thinking in the elements is not a obnoxious and safe practice. Digging in books of alchemy, Yoga and occult (unfortunately) will further explain this. Bottom line, if you want to ensure this is effective and safe to your nature, adopt the principles and map them to a single metaprinciple, that is the actual source of the living force that energizes those principles, ie, nothing or move or anything will be possible or come about without that source constantly streaming the continuity of existence for these elements to continue. Might sound like wow, but whatever mental structure you build in your world will have consequeneces of some sort. This way of unification of elemens will prevent your world from breaking apart. Learnings: so many of those types of books that show you "ways" that work are not coming out of experimental labs or something, they are almost like handed-down wisdoms and learned ones, and not all of them are innocent, and so many come from occultic and magical thinking so use your head and consult your heart.

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang, and although his airbending skills are great, he still has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe Aang can save the world.

Classic self help; all of the ideas are valid, rather obvious and common sensical; all that is offered here is some thin attempt at leverage from the rather awkward connection that is made to ancient Greek philosophy. This connection is absurd when you think about it for 1 second; water puts out fire and so on ... any logic quickly collapses ... because they got the order wrong due to bad thinking. The first should be the last. This book would have worked better if it was just called 5 modes of thinking. 1- mind mapping for analytic thinking (should be # 3 or #4) 2 - what if, for imagineering (your true starting point) 3 - trying shit and not being afraid to make mistakes (they called it the scientific method) 4 - filtering out patterns of failure and success from your small experiments (data analytics) 5 - life long tuning of the algorithm Its not a total waste of time but loses credibility with the whole elemental analogy BS. Just another self help book among millions that will be forgotten soon. Rehashing is ok but do a better job and acknowledge that this is just re-hashing. Also Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb dudes... Anyhow the summary was done well, it saved me from the book. I think I'll write a self-help book ... Hmmm.
