Honestly I've started notice so many bands do mixing themselves and just sending songs out for masters. Again, like you said, mixing is getting way more easy for so many to do, because of the evolution of plugins. and if you don't know how to use it, look it up on the internet and boom done. Back in the 2007-2014 where I was playing in bands/touring , the plugins weren't that good or cheap as now. So it was way better to spend money on a good studio and producer because you didn't wanna take chances or waist money. But now people can easy take chances because of the low rate.. honestly so many bedroom producers do mix/masters today that are legit crazy quality for around 200 dollars a song if not even cheaper. Hell I've done several mixes on my own music that I'm happy with and now I can send it out to basically 5 different producers for masters, and no it ain't cheap but still cheaper then a 2 week studio session with mixing... It's just how the time is now, people can do more themselves and audio is not that hard getting into if you compared it 10 years back. Feeling a little sad for the bands who might miss the "studio experience", because there was something magical about being in a studio for 1 week or two and record everything together, times just change and yes you can still do it, but compared to the price, I can't blame you young people for doing it the cheap way if the results turns out the same. and you can spend more money on your lovely "Pre-Save campaign" I'm sure everyone loves...
Real talk. I was full-time in the industry for around a decade - people are always confused about why I'm not anymore. Surely it wasn't the money? I mean, not *just*? But yeah, it was. The cash isn't there - and it's not like I've got expensive tastes, lol. I just like being able to pay rent every month. Now that I'm (barely) part-time, I feel like the quality of my work has gone through the roof as well. Maybe it's just because I've got the years under my belt, but there's also something very freeing about being in an artistic discipline for the art of it.
Love this video Miami. Gloss over product videos are great...... but sometimes you just gotta get real. You should do more of these. Cause....... "Sometimes you gotta cut a mf'r" 🤘😂
It’s like when the dentist comes in at the end of my check up to scrape around in my mouth for 45 seconds and give me a final spritz of water out of the gun before I go to pay my bill.
ppl on the top..no places at the table...all this talk maybe for a few cheesy bands that wants to be produced the same and same and same way as you always do...no decent black metal band or death metal or slam metal bands would want your production and style.they hear your name and say yea gtfo with this crap..no decent death /black metal band that sounds outstanding and its at the top atm would even want to hear any of your names of commercial sound linking park studios .sorrry
