In my grandmas generation in Puerto Rico, a Mary grotto in the front garden, a crucifix in the front door, some a St Michael small image over the door at the other side of the front door, a framed Last Supper at the dinning room, and a Sacred Heart of Jesus at the living room. That is a bare minimum... some still keep those. I am looking forward to do it too. Slowly adding and in love of having all handy reminders of our Lords love.

The Sacred Heart image is vital to a Catholic household! Also the Immaculate Heart of Mary or Flame of Love image . Those are the bare minimum.

Several years before, my mom died, she went to a ceramics class, and her project was a 20 piece nativity set. I was blessed to receive it when she died, and it fits perfectly in the lighted area of my entertainment center above my TV. I don’t have anything else to put there, so it stays there all year with the light on. Not only is it a reminder of our Lord’s birth, but it’s also a reminder of my mom. It’s been in that space for almost 20 years and I wouldn’t think of wrapping it up and putting it away simply because it’s no longer the season of advent

I never thought of keeping the Nativity on display year-round. I will be doing so now. Each time I look at it I am filled with wonder and love. I have the image of Our Lord on my laptop, so each time I switch it on I contemplate His holy face. Good job, Father.

I am a practicing Catholic. As a "good" Catholic I have religious items and lots of angels in my home. They are not what increases my devotion. For me, it is my personal relationship with God and Jesus that increase my devotion. I have the cruxifix, Jesus, our Lady statues, a creeche and an image of the resurrection. I have my BIG CATHOLIC BIBLE. I even read it. I have a BIG PAINTING in the living room of the Catholic Cathedral in Mexico City. They are all sources of grace for me. But, they are all just "things" to me. A representation of my faith in human form, in tangible form. They are just "things". My most important thing (for me) is not the "things", it is the internal faith, belief, spiritualness, my "alma" that I carry daily. I pray daily, several times a day. I would hope that when people think of me, they think "Yes- she is a woman of God". Thank you for sharing your video. I enjoyed it. Be blessed!

I appreciate the beauty and splendor of our faith and tend to make my small home reflect that. I want every room to call me to Jesus and keep him in my mind. I always have our nativity displayed, St. Michael is next to our front door, we have a crucifix in every room, my altar has candles, 2 crucifixes , our Lady of Guadalupe, and framed sacred heart of Jesus and sacred heart of Mary. We also have a glass cabinet that houses our more fragile pieces. I love that God calls us to him in different ways. I was blessed to visit The Vatican and other roman churches and St. Francis' Basilica in Assisi. The difference of atmosphere and aesthetic was apparent, but I felt the overwhelming love of Christ in both.

@@alexanderbrown2717 It's important to recall the context of the Old Testament-Israelites were amongst pagans and had previously created false idols and worshiping them(Golden Calf). God instructed the creation of the Ark of the covenant in Exodus 25. God is very clear that we are not to put anything above Him...as Catholics we don't do that. Our Church has a long history and for a large part of that it's members were illiterate and definitely did not have access to a Bible. Images and Statues were teaching tools. They still are now. As Catholics we do not worship them. We know these statues are not the living God. Also, where do we draw the line? Is a cross a graven image? Is a nativity scene a graven image? Many protestants have these in their homes too. I say no- because they create an atmosphere praise and worship God. To acknowledge that without his grace we are nothing.

@@alexanderbrown2717 Do you agree with Diana Smith's answer to your question? She told the truth. Also read the following: "And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live." Numbers 21:8, King James Bible -- Can you explain the latter verse to me?
@alexanderbrown2717
@alexanderbrown2717 2 года назад
@@FrankKunkel Thank you both for taking the time to reply to me. I appreciate that. I looked up the Bible verse very interesting. Did you know that you can be 100% certain knowing that you have eternal life? 1 John 5 KJV 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Did you know nothing can separate you from God? Ephesians 1 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Did you know that we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ? Romans 3 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Did you know that Paul had a different dispensation of gospel given to him? Ephesians 3 KJV 2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: Colossians 1 KJV KJV Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; What did Paul teach different than Peter? 1 Corinthians 1 17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. What did Peter think of Paul and his message about the blood of Jesus Christ? 1 Peter 1 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. 2 Peter 3 KJV 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. How do you get saved today? 1 Corinthians 15 KJV 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: A lot of times Catholics would like to say faith without works is dead. In the book of James but did you read the first verse in the book of James? James 1 1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting. What tribe of Israel is the Catholic Church? The book of James is a tribulation epistle And if you still don’t understand? This is key 🔑 2 Timothy 2 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Ephesians 2 KJV 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Why are you trying to get saved by your works in the Bible tells you to rightly divide

We have in addition to all of these blessed items throughout our home…we have a St Benedict’s Blessing beads at our front door and at our bedroom door…we touch it with reverence as we enter and exit…with a brief thanksgiving to our Lord..it has St Benedict medal…Sacred Heart Medal..Miraculous Medal…St Padre Pio…St Michael medal. I often give these blessed beads and medals as a gift for special occasions (marriage…communion…confirmation…RCIA…or to any one who would appreciate and touch these beads as a remembrance of the Mercy and grace of Jesus.) When there is a special Saint according to their individual walk in life…I add that particular patron Saint…ie…St Andrew the Fisherman…St Luke the patron of physicians. It gives me comfort…when I briefly touch this group of medals as I leave my bedroom each morning and send my love to Jesus🙏🏻🕊❤️❤️

I'm Orthodox Christian and I laughed a little about not having too many on a wall. For my family, we enjoy having them all on one east wall. For us, we have it in our dining room and we pray thee as a family twice a day I enjoy seeing all the icons. We have the main feast days there and we are working on adding each of our saints to the wall. It's just nice to see and I don't get distracted but let my eyes guide me to all of God's beauty and get inspired by the saints I see on the wall. For me when I see the Theotokos looking at me it's just a good feeling. Thank you for the video it was really good advice!

Thank you Father Mark Mary! This put a need/desire in my heart to be more intentional with the Holy Images I have placed in my home. Also, for validating my Nativity scene being up all year!!! I have several versions of the Holy Family and find them so beautiful I don't want to keep them hidden for most of the year so i don't. They are a gentle reminder of God's love & faithfulness to us in sending His son to be our savior as a baby to experience everything we do---He Knows more than we do what our trials & burdens are & yet He also provides for such miraculous and great Joys in our lives. They also remind me of Mary's gift to the world in her yes to God & Jesus! and Joseph's daily testimony to honor his bride & God as he loved & protected Jesus as his own. Truly they are the bravest family the world has known. I am praying for you & everyone at Ascension Presents. I also pray with you the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet. Thank you for these videos! I love the community of prayer they provide.

I thought Fr. Mark-Mary said "crush child" not Christ Child. My ears are so bad sometimes. Yes, it does seem like a good idea to keep up the manger scene all year round much like the Crucifix and the Resurrection. We might even consider doing an image of Jesus teaching his disciples like the "Sermon on the Mount" for illuminating the way which we would have to follow from the Joyful mysteries to the Sorrowful mysteries.

So you support my Parish Pastor, and keep the image of The Divine Mercy out of the Parish Church because Jesus probably didn't really want Catholics to venerate the Mercy of GOD. I have a painting of The Holy Family and a Crucifix in the entry Foyer. The front door has a Crucifix attached so even before you enter my home, this warns the Jehovah Witness etc that they will be challenged with the Truth of Christ. I have Divine Mercy image in the Kitchen, because the Kitchen is the most used room in the house.

Lol, you don't need any images of anything. By having that you're basically advertising you have no faith. Catholicism is overrun with images... Statues pictures, carvings... The God that I worship, the father most high, is in my heart and mind and doesn't require a man-made image to remember, and Jesus takes all of my prayers to him. Catholicism has taken something beautiful and simple and turned it into something completely wrong and detestable. I don't need to pray in Latin for God to understand me, that's almost saying God is not smart enough to understand my native tongue. I don't need to bury a man-made figurine of a saint in my backyard upside down to help me sell my house. I don't need to put things in my windows to ward off evil spirits, "because I don't practice voodoo" I don't need to sacrifice red meat on Friday to show how I feel about God. I don't need to light candles for any reason while I'm worshiping the one true God, I don't need to wear any special clothing or hat. I do not need to memorize prayers for a bead necklace. And I most certainly do not need to ask a human man to take my prayers to God. I don't know how a religion can claim Jesus founded it when the history of that religion is nothing but butchering and murdering people, lying and practicing pagan rituals. And acquiring power and wealth.

Father Mike Schmitz recently made a video about his new Tattoo in his left wrist and that is WRONG on so many levels. Whoever watch that video may think he is endorsing tattoos and giving them a green light for others to get one. One thing is that he wanted to get a tattoo, another that he make a video endorsing them. That's odd. Our bodies are not our own. They belong to G-d and are temples of the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 6:19. Man has no right to voluntarily mutilate his members. Saint Basil The Great condemned Tattoos as they are sinful. He is free to agree or disagree, but to leads others to believe in his opinion, is to take other souls to commit a sinful act on themselves. Careful when listening to this Father, something ain't right here. Blessings!

@sonsmith4809
@sonsmith4809 2 года назад
@@barbarafenton1775 Hi Barbara, thanks for your comment. Please allow me to tell you that it is important to understand exactly what the Bible says about judging: "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment", John 7:24 The Bible, which is the W-rd of G-d is the right judgement. My comment is directed to his action made with that video about his new tattoo (judging his action not his persona). This is not about judging the Father but the Father's actions. If you study the Scriptures, you will learn that tattoos are not permitted. There are tons of documented information that clearly explains that. On top of that, throught the Church history, you have Saints and even popes against it (research Pope Pious XI). We are now living the times were some people within the Church and outside the Church, for lack of knowledge (or other reasons) are trying to change what is clearly written in the Bible with the pretext that we are living modern times and therefore we must adapt to such times. This is a huge misunderstanding of the Bible and a Sin by all accounts. The W-rd of G-d is Eternal. Had no time and we must follow it if we want to be saved. This is not an option but a commandment. Tattoos has a long association with the worse kinds of paganism that goes back to the Maya, Inca and Aztec times when were used on rituals. In fact, if we look further, we can see that tattoos goes way back to Neolithic times. The Father's video clearly shows that he does not see anything wrong with getting a Tattoo and in the video there is a message embedded that basically says, "If you want to have a tattoo, go ahead, its OK". Of course, you need to watch the video with an objective mind as this is as clear as water. I have nothing against the Father's persona. He (the Father) seems a nice friendly person. But again, this is about his actions which are wrong and is our duty to say something. If you still think he doesn't endorse tattoos, you should go back and watch the video again. As Catholics, it is our duty to speak up when we see that any representative of the Church (Priest, Bishops, Pope, etc.) are doing something against the Scriptures. To keep silence while knowing they are doing something wrong is a grave sin. This mentality is what had protected thousands of corrupted Priest throught decades. I don't need to remind anyone about all those cases of pedophilia that even today are still hidden from the public. Perhaps many because that same mentality about not to "judge" Priest actions. Let me conclude saying that the one who commits an injustice is just as guilty as the one who, seeing it, looks the other way. Blessings!
