"Working on a Groovy Thing" is by far one of the best of the best of the 5th Dimension, an excellent arrangement, orchestration and blending of great voices!!
I agreed with you jntil this morning when I heard "Love's lines, angles and rhymes" also by 5th Dimension. Very deepin terms of chok rd shifts AND involved lyrics. Sure beats rap, or most country.
Very True. I was in awe of this group in the 60’s. I was probably about 11 or so when this came out. And Marilyn McKoo - OMG- Doesn’t get more gorgeous than her. What a hottie. But if I had to guess-to match this stuff- maybe The Beach Boys.
I love you all from the 21st century stating ''underrated'' just because they're not on everyone's lips today, back in the day the 5thDimension was a HUGE Group!! in demand for television, millions in record sales, adoring fans well into the present, they're not underrated by any means. you've just joined in on the fun, so spread the love!
@@RIXRADvidz bit of a rush to judgement there brother. I'm 63 yrs old and well aware 5D were considered no more than a pop group back in the 60's/early 70's. Not the unbelievable vocal harmony group that history has shown them to be.

One of the greatest American bands we ever had. The "Fifth Dimension," and Marylin McCoo are some of this nations most treasured entertainers. I miss them, her, and those days.
If I could look like any other woman in the world, it would be Marilyn McCoo. She is so incredibly beautiful and moved like a goddess when she danced. And that voice...perfection! Plus she is just so sweet.

Still a Great song to listen. This group made some really good songs, that are still listened over fifty years after being performed. Quality never goes out of style
the girls and billy were singers to begin with i think it was lamont who was a postal worker and the other was a ball player who became a photopher that was asked to do backup and he was the baratone where the other guy was the valseto and they became legends
I am white, live in Sweden, 68 now, but remember how I as a teenager bought this single - in Europe coupled with Sunshine of your love - and really enjoyed the sound of 5th Dimension - and other soul music, yes, soul - and still do! 💯🎶🎵
White , live in UK , 67 years old & bought all the 5D releases as a teenager & then the back catalogue CDs when they started to be issued & still play them .
All of their songs evoke happy memories for me, as I adored them as a pre-teen and teen back in the late 1960's, early 1970's. Had all their records...loved Lamont McLamore's and thought Florence and Marilyn were the epitome of fashion "coolness".
The 5th Dimension had the songs, (many by Laura Nyro), the harmonies, arrangements, and a tremendous stage style of delivery. No doubt, one the 'greatest' pop show groups ever. Especially 'love' Marilyn McCoo's voice & vocal style.

This song reminds me of a girl I saw in the summer of 1969, that's been 50 years now I get to see her every day she is my wife thank you GOD THANK YOU LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THANK YOU HOLY SPIRIT.
The Fifth Dimension was one of the groups my parents loved. I too loved this group, and had the biggest crush on Marilyn McCoo. In my opinion, none of today's singers holds a candle to Marilyn, Florence or any of the singers in this group. Class act all the way.
I use to be so in love with Marliyn.she was my first crush ive never seen a woman so Beautiful..and she still looks so beautiful today after all the years she got better with time
So blessed to see Marilyn and Billy sing the other night. They have been married 43 and sounded and looked fantastic. What a great show. They are also devout Christians.
Being before music videos they have a tremendous stage presence. I always think of them as Broadway caliber talent. Marilyn, Florence and Billy as stars and Lamonte and Ron as the straight men. Champagne Soul.
I love to watch their performances...they all have such great stage presence. The body language of them all is fantastic. And the vocals are brilliant. Love the pairing of Flo/Ron and Marilyn/Lamonte' with Billy in the middle...vocally sounds AWESOME and LURVE that part Ron comes in on *Now you'rehear next to me*...just love how he sounds there. Then Lamonte's "Doo Doo Doo Doo" with that sexy baritone/bass...mmm mmm yes! And Marilyn...the ard of the group...she can WORK a stage.

when these were hits i was only 14 years old 1969 and had to keep it secret that i like those girls and this song now i,m 58 and i know now i was right they are nice and the song still sounds great
Marilyn McCoo was one of most gifted singers of the sixties and seventies. A voice for the ages with so much emotion expressed in her voice. The harmony of this group is what makes it so good. There is nothing to compare it to today (unfortunately). What happenned to good music? kone

Ha ha! Lamonte was-and still is- a playboy. I believe he finally married, though. Marilyn is lucky to have Billy. He adores her and has always supported her career.
The 5th Dimension was classy, yet hip at the same time. In my opinion that with the fact that they were super talented made them the triple-threat of that time period.
I was a child during this era, and some of their songs still resonate in my memory for some reason. I believe it is because the lyrics were simple, yet romantic and not sexually explicit or vulgar. The beats were actually smooth and 'groovy', even a bit corny, but I really LOVE their vibe....
I am surprised Hollywood hasn't made a movie about this group...but then, maybe I should be glad, since there aren't any singers today who could harmonize like The Fifth Dimension.
Such a happy song! And the Fifth Dimension rocked it! Great blend of beautiful harmonies, sweet melody, gorgeous orchestration, and nifty lyrics. Who writes songs like this anymore? Nobody.
