The 7 basic emotions - Do you recognise all facial expressions? 

Happiness didn't feel happy, more embarrassed. Disgust didn''t wrinkle the nose, which is an involuntary respons for real disgust. So, these emotions are basically the emotions of bad acting..?

In one of Indian ancient texts named Natyasastra by Bharatha Muni, he has defined nine basic emotions (navarasas) to be expressed as part of Indian classical dance forms. The nine emotions are Shringara (love/beauty), Hasya(laughter), Karuna (sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera ( heroism/courage), Bhayanaka (terror/fear), Bibhatsya (disgust), Adbutha (surprise/wonder), and Shantha (peace or tranquility).

Matching faces to emotions was the section of my ASD test I scored the worst on. I was diagnosed with Aspergers. Watching this video now I unsurprisingly missed almost all of them.

I guessed anger 3 times. I'm just glad I got it right once.

Almost in every expression, the actresses seem like they are bout to smile at any time so it makes it harder to understand the emotion they are trying to portray.

anger is shown in a very unrecognisable way. I thought it is doubt. She didn't frown, she just squeezed her eyes, as if she didn't understand something

I have ASD with paranoid/avoidant traits, I got all of the correct, with different wording, but I mistook Fear as shocked. It's interesting.

I only did this to have a better understanding if I have autism, I always had issue’s understanding facial expression and i think this barely helped out, the faces didn’t make sense to me, they just look weird and goofy. I even mistaked disgust with anger

I got 4 right but only happiness, sadness, surprise, and fear. I’m in the process of an ASD diagnosis.

I swear disgust looked off. It had a hint of some positive emotion like playfulness or joy

Sad and happy are what I got lol. I mean smiling and frowning are always in kids books so that's easy.

I was taught in psych 101 that disgust is a learned reaction. However, that was so long ago that I may have misunderstood. Maybe it's the stimuli that we learn to feel disgusted by.

huh, i thought alot of them where disagreement with something that was being said. and I thought anger was squinting because you cant see something.

Should've hired actors for this. Some emotions definitely lack the eye and forehead movement.

It very hard to tell be simply these guys are good at showing emotions except fear and happiness which everyone knows how to do it .....no offense

1: didn't see any emotion. Only saw a weird and random facial change. 2: weird face scrunch. Once again, saw no emotion, just a random face change. 3, lip twitch, still saw no emotion. 4, I'm assuming a smile is happiness. But the woman doesn't express the emotion long enough for me to see anything. Plus her eyes are dead. I can't see any change. 5, this one was very easy. Sad. 6: strange eye movement. Too brief to distinguish anything. 7: didn't see any change I'd recommend expressing the emotion longer. You do it so fast.

Almost no one do this faces in real life, except children. Like, imagine you talking with your friend and they tell you they are sad. They will not look like they are in cartoon and their lips looks like reversed smile. Im autistic, btw, and in my childhood i studied microexpressions using anime. And, surprisingly, thats a way more reliable source of how people could look like while beeing emotional. Way more reliable than this vid and others like it.

As someone with body dysmorphic disorder I got 2 out of 7. Very interesting. I called disgust and anger pooping lol

Weird I thought I am good at reading people but these short moments of reading her face was not easy for me. Happiness and the next one I guessed. But all emotions have been to fast and weird looking?!

What's the lady in White doing especially in 6th emotion, more of a Constipated look For Anger the Eyebrows need to come closer n form a bit of wrinkle between the eye area besides being slightly tight...squinting eyes alone doesn't work

Emotion 2: "I am reading a cue card right now but the handwriting is terrible and I can barely make it out." Emotion 3: "I am reading a cue card right now and this is really boring and I'm kinda hungry. I think I could go for a steak." Emotion 4: "I work in customer service and I am THIS close to losing my mind but I need the money which is why I have taught myself to smile on command."
