Navigating the Web Design landscape has become more challenging than ever before, with new tools and trends constantly emerging, and a surge of aspiring designers joining the wave. But here’s the thing: just as a fancy camera doesn’t make you a great photographer, a fancy design tool or technique won’t make you a great designer. 80% of Web Designers worry too much about technology and trends, before mastering the fundamentals and key principles of Web Design. I’m talking to the 20% that is ready to stand out from the crowd: if you want to future proof your career, spend the majority of your time mastering the fundamentals. In this video, I will share with you the 7 laws of Good Web Design, to help you do just that.

Nail the fundamentals and the rest usually falls in place. Chase timeless design and not trends. I took your grids and composition for digital designers course awhile back and it pays off everyday. It definitely helped me bridge the gap. Good stuff, Adrian!

It’s interesting that good design depends on the use case. For example the ‘Oscilloscope’ website design wouldn’t be good if it was meant for a shop with really high site usage, but it’s perfect for it’s target audience.

Glad you find the content valuable Lukas! To me there's no distinction between "artistic" and "commercially focused" design. You might have to watch the video again because I explain this in depth. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Great video. Thoughts on Good web design is natural. I like the technique. And to add to that idea, in nature, light and shadow operate differential. Sun is yellow, Sky is blue. With golden yellow light you get the complementary opposite color in the shadow. So with that in mind, light colors should skew towards yellows, darker ones towards blue. Or in your case, light colors in the red spectrum, darker ones goes to green.
@hellobont
@hellobont 9 месяцев назад
That's very interesting! I will definitely look into that, thanks for sharing ✨️

@@hellobont Thanks :) Just to add more to the color theory; the closer to white it should be less saturated, same goes for the blacks.

biggest most valuable advice you give imo is to look at nature and physics instead of dribble! That alone will 10fold progress for new designers.

I just visited the metal website that you created and showed in your video. I love it however, on a iPhone it looks terrible. Multiple menus are showing multiple titles or showing needlessly. I would check it. I took a screenshot but there’s no way to show you here.

This is actually wrong. 1. Design doesn't have to be "memorable" at all. There are many websites in the industry that follow these "cookie cutter" layouts with no transitions or interactions other than basic navigation and they are exceptional examples of good ui/ux. Not only "templatish" websites are good, they are usually better than those creative ones, because they are familiar there for - intuitive and way more user friendly even easier to understand, scan and just consume. Those creative ones have common problem of distracting and putting unnecessary cognitive load. They look good from aesthetics point of view but ux/ui - poor. 2. Its a bit hypocritical to say that good design is timepless, when "good" examples presented in this video uses contemporary style, from fonts to layouts, which will go out of date.
