If you don't accept the existence of spirituality then you're going to have a hard time understanding. But moreover, you actually make the agument for the idea of Perry selling her soul yourself in your last sentence. Yes she started off by using her God given talent by worshiping God, but perhaps her motives clearly weren't orientated correctly to begin with, perhaps she was too proud and really only wanted fame to begin with, so she turned away from God and towards the world to ask for the worlds adoration, thereby showing that she worships herself over God. This is what satan wants, not for people to worship him directly, but for them NOT to worship God, and since God has forsaken the world to damnation and essentially given it over to satan, it means by default that anyone who does not worship God, worships satan.

Sorry but the body language and even the laughter at the end especially kinda confirms it a lot, she really meant it, at the very least she believes it to be a fact and not fiction that much I'm certain about.
