It's my understanding that YT now prevents people from using ad-blockers, which I don't agree on, but to lessen the annoyance of the ads I removed about 4 mid-roll ads that YT automatically stuck in there. If I can I still make a little money with fewer ads, I can probably remove more ads. Remember, the ads help pay my bills so I appreciate your understanding.
You can make ublock origin work again by going into it's settings, clearing the cache, and forcing an update. I believe in supporting creators like Taofledermaus but I don't believe in invasive anti-adblock measures.
Not only impressive, but rich in potential. You could drill a hole in the stack, shove in a nail and bind it all together with putty. You can cut notches in the Pennie’s for potentially better flight, plus, the way they’re rounded, you could fit wax and shot in a chamber made with 2 pennies for more weight, again drilling a hole through the center to keep the chamber connected to the penny stack.
I love OG's sense of humor. Pretty cool, when i worked for Fedex, i made a knife out of 4 gift cards glued together, and used a bench grinder to make it serrated. I had to pass through a metal detector, the guards never found that knife
Copper has a unique ability to pressure weld. The first stack of pennies that you used were loaded loose but by the time they left the barrel it was a single cohesive slug.
I caught my dad chewing pennies and spitting them out. I said, "Dad, what the hell are you doing?" He replied, "Im making us rich, son." "How?" I asked "Simple," he said, "I'm making bit coins"
I've been watching since the days of shooting wingnut screws at locker doors, we've done stacks of coins a few times now. It was cool seeing new variables thrown in.
@@taofledermausdemolition ranch used a lot of shotguns in his early days of RU-vid but he wasn’t doing it to test and see what projectiles were ballistically stable he was more just seeing if the shotgun would explode or what he could eventually do to make the shotgun explode. He did shoot some nuts or washers but he never cared about getting slow motion video of the projectiles in flight or anything. Your channel has always had an emphasis on ballistics and getting good shots of the projectiles in flight and proper load data.
I was thinking the same thing, you could easily increase the weight to one oz with solder, and they’d be bonded quite well. Solder each one individually of course and the overall height wouldn’t increase that much. I guess at that point it would just be a copper Foster slug though.
@@caseyb1346 That would certainly bond them together well and would shatter on impact. Like you said, a lot of work either way for a foster slug facsimile, which are common and not too expensive. Something for a hobbyist to tinker with maybe.
@@negative6442 And you can get 12 rounds for a buck. Add the primer, powder, wads, reloading press and some labor, you save lots of $$$. Just don't use for home defense. Only use store bought ammo.
As have I, ever since Resident Evil when they asked, "what's all the quarter for?" Then you see they were loaded into shells and fired towards the end of the movie.
From now on, if you use hot glue, I think you should be obligated to use some glitter as well! Once the glue cures, you might be able to tap a stainless screw through the nose for a possible penetrator. Also, if you plan to continue testing on this line and want to boost velocity but are worried about flight separation, you might be able to maximize the glue effect by sticking the formed slugs in an Easy-Bake-Oven nose down for a bit to help even out coverage. GREAT video! Thanks guys! Be safe out there.
Have never been disappointed by any of your video's. Even those with many failures are entertaining and educational. The performance of the pennies was very interesting, not what I expected. Thank you for great content.
Using the same principle of making the cones. You could do the same with the steel slugs found on job sites when electrical contractors leave. (The knock out discs on panels and sockets). These would be great slugs for hog hunting or even deer hunting in close.
They are the similar size to quarters, as a kid, with a Master Electrician Father, we used to be able to pass them off as quarters in vending machines, up untill mid/ late 90's lol.
Super light weight though due to how thin they are. Probably half the weight of a penny. At least on panels. Some of the electrical boxes have somewhat thick ones.
I found a guy that sells something he calls a penny punch. It resizes the penny to 7.25 and puts a dome in it for stacking in 12 gauge shot shells for the DIY slugger community.
Now that was just flat out fun to watch! Love Ballistics both internal and external. But still a little shade tree designing and experimenting is always interesting. Doesn't always work, but when it does, it is a Hoot!!! Thanks Guy's! KnifeMaker but
They performed well they remind me from when I was younger when I lived at the lake I used to make a lot of different types of projectiles with hot glue and stuff inside of it I would mold it with whatever I wanted to send down range inside the glue not just for shotguns but also muskets and even 22rimfire blanks my favorite was slingshot ammo slugs I would take a metal ball bearing and drop it into hot glue melted in the shape of a slug in a mold made in Play-Doh from an actual slug and it would sink to the very nose of the slug mold which would keep it super stable in flight nose heavy like a dart
It really gums up the bore though a lot of cleaning required when using hot glue it will leave a new layer of film in the rifling every time not that hard to clean out though
I think it would be a good thing to put in most videos for the slugs that are getting tested. A water drop test before the first shot to give some predictions.
Now I'm curious how the stacked pennies without any glue will do in the gel block. Considering the glued together stack didn't appear to tumble I expect the result would be similar, but I'm not confident enough to bet on that.
Neat! Is it just me, or does Greg look younger? I am concerned that due to inflation, this ammunition loses quite a bit of value between when you fire it and when it hits the target. I am never tired of watching things get hit by a slug, and these ones look to be impressive!
I’m so proud you cracked the code on using coin currency as ammunition bud. I’d love to see you experiment on other coins. Even unglued, the pennies fly in a great column to mimic a slug. Rounding them like you did desperately needs more experimentation with other metals. I hope some machinists at watching and devising what’s best described here as a rounded disk column load. Edit: after more views and brainstorming, I realize that you could drill a hole through the center of the stack and fit a nail or core inside, using putty to keep it all together. Plus, the way the pennies are rounded, you can also put two together to make a chamber you can fill with wax and shot for more weight, using a nail to again hold it all together.
I do some craft stuff and gorilla hot glue works really well, that stuff is strong. It's kind of amber color. Not expensive either, got a pack of 38 or something for $8.
Cheap and effective. Pennys on the head. Reason i have and do shoot stacked dimes is for they're patterns. Cover alot of area well. And if only 2 dimes hit what I'm fighting off then that's 20 cents worth it. Love this channel and i thank you guy's for doing such great work. Sometimes i believe the rumors about you two being in village people disco group. Great shooting officer Greg, hate to come up behind u àn say BOO, Jeff u do great work building a goòd slug, and fliming it all go down. 1000 outta 1000 big man! Cents not dollars tho.
10:01 It would be the best thing ever if someone, somewhere, found and mailed in a blimp shaped steel mold to fill with molten lead. I really want to one day see a "Lead Zeppelin" gag. 😂
Great video as usual, I loved the extra bit at the end explaining the process, testing and the water drops, it would be cool to see more of them in the future, it really helps visualise what the slugs are doing
Thanks for explaining how you shaped the pennies in this project. I spend\t most of the video trying to come up with a way to do it. So simple, I didn't figure it out.
Thank! There's a ton of possibilities with these. Something you might even try. Glue 2 or 3 together so they eventually separate at 30 yards or so and become multiple projectiles, etc. A stack of 16 or 20 pennies is possible, etc.
Another great ammo video. I do appreciate you guys for the very interesting videos you make for us! I am ready for some heavy slugs, maybe some made with brass and or tungsten. The ones with a piece in the center never seems to work, especially with the weights being different. I loved the ones with 12 ga Brass Lehigh Defense shaped slugs. Maybe use some 50 caliber sabot slugs from Lehigh defense. I'd love to see some holes all the way through the lead plate. OK, love your videos , always have , always will! Keep pulling those triggers.
I liked this video as much or more than any of your past videos, which means that I think it was a great video and highly entertaining! Thanks to you and OG!
The original Minie round had the grooves in it for the same sort of self stabilization aero effect. If you look at the grooves on an original Minie round, they look similar to the edges of your stacked dimpled pennies.
There was some pretty impressive performances today from everything & everybody involved with todays ballistic experiment . Jeff's inventive brain conceived and allowed him to create a surprisingly accurate slug for literally pennies . OG once again showed that for all the ribbing He gets about his shooting his aim is spot on and the consistency of results proves the hits weren't just luck , and his sense of humour really exemplifies the fun so many shooters get from this great hobby/sport. Well done Guys . Thank You for yet another excellent entertaining and informative tutorial on the ballistic capabilities of unusual projectiles . Catch You next time . Shoot Straight Stay Safe & Stay Well .
I've always loved your videos but this one takes the cake. Glad I stick around till the end for your process and I might have even found a use for all the pennies that are hardly worth putting in sleeves.
@@taofledermaus Several years ago I won a selection of projectiles that were used in videos on your channel. One of them was a stack of 'Yen coins?', which is somewhat similar to these ones but much lighter. I have those displayed on my youtube/nerd shelves 😉
This video really caught my eye because I had just remodeled my bedroom and ran out of washers I need for some of the trim. A bag of 6-10 washers is just over a dollar before tax. Pennies cost a penny each if you drill a hole in the middle, and look much cooler.
A super fun and fascinating video at the same time. wow! Really epic - I remember the old tests and expected the coins top disperse too. Awesome shooting and precision hits... and of course the slow motion footage is superb as usual. Wonderful video guys - really enjoyed it... (if you didn't get all the hype from the previous text, that is ;).
