The British Royal Navy's Type 26 country of origin is the UK not Australia as indicated in the video. One has already been built and launched and two more are currently in different stages of construction in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Type 26 _City_-class is basically going to be a Heavy Frigate/Elite Heavy Frigate with higher end capabilities. They cost over a billion GBP each. They are meant for the most important frigate duties most of the time, being so expensive for what they are. The Type 31 _Inspiration_-class are meant to be more of a General Purpose and Medium Frigate. They will do more 'menial' tasks and free up the vastly more expensive Type 26's to do the most high profile jobs like guarding the UK CSG (Carrier Strike Group) This doesn't mean Type 31's wouldn't also occasionally be seen in the UK CSG, but the Type 26 will more often be seen in that role. Why use a billion pound elite heavy frigate for basic duties when you can use a quarter billion pound frigate that will do the same job just as well? That is the point of the them. The Type 26 will be the best frigate Britain has, whereas the Type 31 will be more of the workhorse for basic tasks. There will be 8 Type 26 and 5 Type 31 according to current plans. In my opinion, there should be 12 Type 26 and 12 Type 31.

i think each ship size should incorporate this sizing standard: Light Corvette Heavy Corvette Light Frigate Battle/Missile Frigate Heavy or Super Frigate Light Destroyer Heavy Destroyer Light Cruiser Battle/Missile Cruiser Assault/Heavy Cruiser Super Cruiser Light Carrier Battle Carrier Assault/Super Carrier this is just my idea of it, fantasy military stuff lol
@ThePalaeontologist

@@eurekasfavoriteman I had similar ideas for things so no worries. Like with the carriers. I made this tier system based on displacement giving them different names, although there are other ways of looking at it. I started with Diminutive Carriers (40,000 t displacement but 50,000 t displacement but 60,000 t displacement but up to 70,000 t displacement) I maybe remembering some of these tiers wrong but I think it roughly went like this. Maybe it did go like this exactly. It's been a while since I made the concept and somewhat shelved it for a few reasons. Anyway. The next one up _I think_ was something like Grand Carrier (>70,000 t displacement, though 80,000 t displacement but 90,000 t displacement and up to 100,000 t displacement. At least by that metric (though I must note, I was aware there could be a bit of a discretional margin of crossover between classes, within around 10-20% of the displacement range per tier (so some lighter carriers might be deemed worthy of being in a higher tier, for other reasons such as airwing firepower and technological standing, with a margin of error or leeway to justify some carriers being nominally in one tier but on balance, being worthy of being seen as a higher tier if necessary or appropriate) After that, it went something like this: - Ultra Carrier: >100,000 t up to 110,000 t. - Giga Carrier: >110,000 t up to 120,000 t. - Omni-Carrier: >120,000 t up to ??? I made this tiering system on a whim of a flight of fancy, and dreamt up a class of immense carrier for the Royal Navy. I called it the Omni-Carrier type and the design became the _Eclipse_-class Omni-Carrier. Starting with HMS _Eclipse_ and then also counting the carriers HMS _Equinox_ and HMS _Equator_ (a class of three absolute leviathans) I imagined them for the 2070's.

Babcock is going to loose their ass off over the type 31!! It may have intended to be a cheaper frigate but with everything they are adding, upgrading, and replacing I don’t see how Babcock can make any money off of it unless the RN or Britains version of DOD is willing to pay for it which i doubt. Babcock has already brought this concern up and has some kind of commission looking into it and per contract who is responsible for the cost of those upgrades!!
@ThePalaeontologist
@ThePalaeontologist Год назад
@@Legion-xq8eo The budget is set to increase year on year to 2.5% GDP on Defence by about 2025 but beyond that it is hard to tell. There are growing calls for 3% in the current climate. I'd consider that a basic requirement with what is happening. We'll see if they get anywhere near it, though.

@@Legion-xq8eo As usual it will end up costing more than the T26 by the time they've finished but we'll get a worse ship for it - standard MOD (the equivalent) mess up, you can guarantee that Babcocks will make a profit from it- jobs =votes etc. etc.

Why does it say the type 26 and Hunter class frigates are of Australian origin. They are not! They both originate from the UK. Please do at least basic research!

@@Legion-xq8eo Perhaps this excerpt from the Type 26 Wikipedia article will clarify matters: "In September 2016 the Australian government awarded BAE Systems a contract to further refine the design of the Type 26 Global Combat Ship for the Royal Australian Navy under the SEA 5000 (Future Frigate) programme. Australia issued a request for tenders (RFT) in support of the programme in late March 2017. The programme is valued at AUD35 billion (US$26.25 billion). On 10 August 2017 BAE Systems announced it had submitted its bid for the SEA 5000 programme. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced in June 2018 that BAE had won the contract and Australia would build nine units of a modified version of the Type 26 concept vessel in Adelaide. To summarise the Type 26 Frigate is a British design that has been adopted by the British, Australian and Canadian navies for a total of 32 vessels, each country building its own version of the ship and with Britain being the lead nation and potentially building the first hulls for each nation to fit out to their own requirements.
@tomriley5790
@tomriley5790 Год назад
There will be more T26s in the RAN than the RN so they can legitmiately be claimed to be an Australian class regardless of where they're built. Had more T26s been built they would have been cheaper - all the development and design costs get divieded beween the hulls that are built, given only about 1/3 of them will be operational at any one time when the shit hits the fan and we actually go to war you can bet the T31s adn 32s will be in the fleet and going to war which will result in them getting sunk as theyh're not really up to it by modern standards.

@@tomriley5790 Yes but the design and ORIGIN of the type is British. I agree that Australian and Canadian versions are distinct classes but the ORIGIN of the base design is British. I would never say that the Nisan Micra for example was of Brazilian origin even though the cars are built there.
