Couple things: Dont start with Starting Fluid many times, engines dont like it, fix priming issue!!! Other thing: Fix Switch first, then swapping a solenoid make sure, which one is broken!!! You can get those solenoids from Ebay!! Good Luck!=) Greetings from Lantana, Florida !
Exactly what I was thinking about it not starting right . The transmission not working will be the least of their problems when the motors screwed and won't run, because the ether messed up some internal components. That is what happens when people miss label machines as getting addicted to ether.
Check the vent on top of the transmission. You can see it from the left side of the engine compartment looking back towards the transmission (looking over top of the starter). Make sure that is clear. The 3 solenoids on the top left of the transmission are for the MFWD (if used), Diff lock and the Park Brake. The transmission control solenoids are under the top cover of the transmission control valve which is mounted on the top backside of the transmission. Seldom do those solenoids go bad (not to say they don't go bad sometimes). Most likely you have an FNR shifter problem. That was a common problem with those machines. You want to have it tested to be sure, they are expensive. If the shifter is OK then you may need to get your dealer to check amps at the fuse box for the transmission circuit to verify it is doing what it needs to be doing electrically. You would also have to have pressures checked to check mechanical function.
Hi Hank. Love all your videos. I especially love seeing the ol' John Deere making a feature again. I hope it gets running as I've watched the whole series. 😉👌
haha That ol Deere is more like a stubborn mule 😂 Just want to say I apprecaite your content! You're positive, friendly, and laid back attitude is so refreshing Hank! I get a smile as soon as I see you've uploaded. God bless and stay safe!
There is a John Deere dealer named Stribling Equipment. They might have the parts. I know they sell the big stuff....skidders, dozers, graders, etc... If all else fails, just take the operators seat and put it on backwards 😆
First of all i would solve the wiring issue so you don't have to hotwire it,to make the switch work the way its suppost to and the switch the solinoids around, see if that solves anything
Hank, too bad the 310 won’t go forwards yet. Hopefully soon. Once the backhoe is running it sounds good! I hope you’re able to find a new forwards solenoid to fix the issue. Then it will be operational right? Thanks! I like watching the 310 series.
There's filters that get clogged up from dibre.& metal shavings stuck in the filters.,or filter that blocks it from comtamanting the fluids.& lines. There's also safety switches.& electric silanode pumps that go out.&get stuck from fibre stuck in the pump line ends.& pump head inlet& exit return line out.
My John Deere 7220 just started losing power then stopped moving forward. The engine revs up fine, the hydraulics work, fluids are all full but the tractor just wouldn't move forward or reverse anymore. The tractor always had problems going into drive, i have had to put it in drive 2-3 times before it lets me go forward. Idk what happened to it today...engine sounded like it was getting weak while driving/cutting, it stopped, then it had to get towed away.
Enjoyed the video Hank with Biggun and Eric. Hope you can get the part you need to get it moving forward. Eric looks like he has been in Florida for some time from his tan. I doubt he got it in Michigan. Lol.
before you call someone to help you with a problem , be sure you are ready. no battery, no start, no air ???it shows no respect to people you call for help and to the people that wait to see fixing what you said in title of video. service man is lucky that you have the tractor there
hey guys before to buy a new solenoid you can switch the bacward solenoid with a forward broken solenoid end you can try if is true broken!!! mauro from Italy!
Woah, why’s the 310 acting up again with the starting procedure? I thought it was turn key and start without the starting fluid. What do you think is causing it to crank so much before starting? Thanks!
Hank, any update on the 310 since this video? Also, I noticed 2 things in the video with the machine. 1. The exhaust stack isn’t attached fully. 2. The coolant reservoir seems to be empty under the hood. Thanks! The machine sounds good though.
Just checking something here. If the forward , neutral and reverse gears are working BUT it does not seem to be going into 1 and 2nd gear. How do you fix that? If it appears to be an electrical problem?
hi hank i have old volkswagan van stuff not working is normal to me! you've been called out by matt from diesel creek im wait see how you do! God bless
Wow, all that fuel system work and it still requires the laughing gas to start? I'd forget about the gearing problem for now and go back to getting her to start the right way. No offense Hank.
Hi Hank, you need to get out and get you some eggs because Matt from Diesel Creek has called you out for the lifting a egg with the backhoe challenge, Howabout you
The thing is though this stuff is usually abandoned for a reason and you have to chase down really weird problems related to them. It also sat in a field for a long time so it could have water damage, mouse damage and maybe even ice damage or a broken transmission.
The other problem is if your finding a lot of shorted out/bad parts it is because something is causing them electrically to go bad through either excessive heat, current draw or hydraulic load. If the machine is stuck with a functioning always actuating it could cause all of those problems including the hard engine start because of a rusty valve or joystick.
The machine sat in the woods for about 6 years with the fuse panel uncovered. I’m sure there are many shorted out wires. Best case scenario I’d put a new wiring harnesses on the whole tractor.
Can't believe that thing is loosing prime that quick, should have taken out one of the other solenoids and put in the forward position to try to test it.
this is Nick from being the equipment sales in Perry Georgia I had a 310g did the same thing there's a valve underneath where you guys are adding power if you pull a cover off you'll see where the solenoids go in pull the solenoids off the valves are sticking unstick the valves it'll go forward and backwards without jumping The wire
Should be a check valve in the manual fuel pump up valve or close by the pump up valve , its not working , allowing the fuel to drain back to the fuel tank . You can also buy inline check valves to splice into the fuel line making sure the check valve is turned in the right direction . Could also be a fuel leak some where , seems like you would have noticed a leak though .
Why are you wasting my time talking about bumpers?why don't you get this started first?lm here to find out why it won't go forward!Talking about Amazon! What a waste...lm about to leave
Indianapolis industrial diesel turbines& injector pumps outlet supply. It's called area diesel industries supply of Indianapolis,Indiana. It's A 317- are code phone number to.
Don,t knowaboutcha Hank. A claw hammer used to install battery cables maybe you should hit them harder perhaps drive the the post down into the battery case. Maybe some day you and your experts will learn that diesel engines require freash hot batterys.
u er making th jd look bad get it fixed then show what a great tractor it is ,, way to much starting fluid put that dodgein th scrap pile n get a real truck an them other tractors
When my 310D lost toward, thereafter went out smell the transmission fluid to see if is burnt. Got ones with torqueconvrter For half what John Deere wanted.
