I miss home man, last time I went back I almost broke down seeing the condition it was in compared to what it was twenty years ago,it'll be all but gone in twenty more..sux..Stay cool Pierre!!..
Whoever is putting the music to these videos has a very special gift. Great work. I know it's been awhile since you posted a lot of these videos, but thank you. You do awesome work!
A perfect example of a place that can be updated by people needing to learn how to work on such properties and in turn learn how to support themselves!
I have been watching many of these abandoned houses videos and it astounds me that places like these are allowed to fall into ruin. Not sure if just stubborn property owners who let them deteriorate, probate court tie-ups or banks who have filed these properties away and forgotten about them. Regardless, many of these properties could have been saved and it's a shame seeing them rot away. Very nice house in this one, wish I could buy it and restore it.
It always makes me sad to see a once beautiful home fall to ruin. If I had the money I would like to buy one of these and restore it to it's former glory. Thanks for the video and that sad song!
I always think about what it must have been like there, like the shot of the fire place.. Christmas time, everyone gathered around the tree and the snow is falling outside.. And everyone, for the most part, is happy.. The home is happy..
My Aunt lived in Fairfax for a long time! My great great grandpa helped to build all the roads there in the 50's I think..back then it was cobblestone roads lol!
Of significance to residents and scholars, this was the childhood home of America's first Prima Ballerina, the legendary Osage Indian, Maria Tallchief, whose name is revered in the world of ballet --- and, of course, in the State of Oklahoma.. Elizabeth Marie Betty Tallchief spent the first five years of her dance career in the famed Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo; then, became featured ballerina for George Balanchine's New York City Ballet. Tallchief performed in international capitols and was the first American to perform in the ultimate venue of Ballet, Moscow's Bolshoi Theater. A statuesque and quite regal woman of breathtaking beauty, Tallchief represented America's pinnacle of achievement in Arts and was the recipient of our National Medal of Arts and received a Kennedy Center Honor for Lifetime Achievement.
If there was a Lowes or Home Depot within 30 miles this place could have a comeback. It would be great for educating students on repair and construction. 32 miles to the NW is Ponca City which has a Lowes. Hope something happens!
This home was built by a chief. The Indians in the area back in the early teens and 20s were made wealthy by Mr. Marland. He paid them so that he could drill on their land. As things go, money runs out especially when the wolves of Wallstreet reached Mr. Marland and the Ponca City area. He really did give back to his employees at the refinery. It's an interesting story about the Palace on the Prairie.
Mindy, the Indians owned the land which proved to be oil rich. Mr. Marland didn't make them rich. They were smart enough to have purchased the land and all assets underground as well.
Why hasn't anyone tried to buy the property?? That Art's and Crafts style fireplace alone with the tiles and the art tiles center piece is worth a pretty penny especially if it tile from a well known pottery/tile company. I would hate to see it destroyed. That house seemed rehabable.
i used to live in Edmond OK .. wish i got to know this place at that time.. it must have had it s days .. what a beautiful place.. wonder what made the people just abandonded it like this and go never to look back..
This is a beautiful home that really needs not all that much work. but I called the county there and this home is the old Goode estate. Was used as a school in the 1990's but is on trible land and can never be sold. What a bad end end for a really beautiful home with rich history. it's not haunted just beautiful. would love to go see it but i'm in OKC and disabled so the drive is a little far. Please call and get owners name in Fairfax before just going into the house. i'm scared someone would be there I might not want to meet and never be seen again
i believe this is the mansion of Maria Tallchief's family. Her f ather was the chief of the Osage tribe who became wealthy with oil. Maria Tallchief was very famous American Indian Ballerina who married and worked with George Ballanchine of the New York City Ballet. She received Kennedy Center award and was famous around the world. Her sister, Marjorie Tallchief was also a famous ballerina. The mansion should be restored and dediciated as a museum to the Tallchief family.
Beautiful video and music. I would love to find the current owners. Even if they want to keep it for the land. There were a lot of wonderful items worth salvaging that I would love to buy. Too bad a lot of the windows (probably the especially nice ones) are already gone. The house interior will rot even faster with them gone and broken out. The old beams and wood from the barn would be great too.
Based on the contents I believe it was occupied in the latter part of the 1970's. Shame not one person has stepped forward to restore this beautiful landmark.
sometimes the county holds the deed at this state of decay, see if you can find out from the uploader what county its in, Call county comissioner or treasurers office ask abt an abandoned brick prop. among their holdings. Just my best guess, worth a try.
I visited that place about 20 years ago when it was in much better shape. It looked like they had simply walked away from it. Probably the person living there died and they just locked it up, then someone broke in and down it went.
1st , like to round up the little heathens who wrecked the place and...... 3rd rolled through that area headed to Ralston, probably woulda made side trip to see that, kills me to see structures like this left to rot, how far off the path is this place?
This was a halfway house or something. There's a video game against that wall..and then the "pop machine" upstairs. No one else mentioned that (at 40 cents a bottle). How much did the video game play for?? Interesting video.
I bet this was beautiful in it's day. It still could be if someone could take it over, refurbish and love it. The jeep would be awesome refurbished as well. At least the last owners were smart enough to have an Apple! (:
I believe that these abandoned towns and homes should be offered to help the poor and less fortunate; and Grants should be available to them to fix it up.. No reason for ANY Family or American to Ever be homeless or face the possibility of becoming homeless..
My home town Frederick Oklahoma has some abandon houses and old building stores old time restaurant back in time head start now they ain't that much people cause so many farm lands roads are in bad shape its a small town now its also become a ghost town
Love looking at abandoned homes of every kind, castles, and country homes, love the things they leave behind ,and would love to get a few great treasures that they left behind , to refix and sale, I see money for there trash ,,and money to make.! SAD!!!! to leave a money maker behind . wish I was there . went in Abandoned homes when I was a teen in Kentucky . but never touched a thing . now I wish I would have .
I remember hearing about Fairfax football team in the late 70's . They did win back to back state titles . I've never been there though . Other than hearing about their tradition in football I don't anything about this town .
Larry Coker was the coach from 1971-1976 - his first coaching job. He won two consecutive titles then moved on. Fairfax won again the following season for three straight. Larry Coker eventually coached in college and won a National Title with the Miami Hurricanes.
Too bad there wasn't a shot of the roof. If the roof is still intact, I could easily be wrong, but the main house doesn't look to be in too bad a shape and could be renovated and restored
I thought it was a good song. ... but not for this video. It was such a depressing song. Reminded me of something that should be played at a funeral. :/
***** and this is how it gets vandalized cause now any idiot with a computer and the internet can find it..Fairfax is tiny they must not have looked too hard if they couldn't find it..I lived there when I was a small child and could still find this place and only knew of it as a teen after I moved away
This house looks to have been built around the 1930s and is already ruined. What a shame. We just purchased a old farm house built in 1914 and the people who built it lost a daughter of seven years of age who died in the house in 1918 during the flu epidemic. No I don't believe in post ghosties roaming the halls! I use to cremate people and have no fear of the dead so don't go there! Anyhow the house has the builders name written in the plaster leading up to the attic along with his sons name also. When I grew up I lived in a mansion with 26 rooms in it and my bedroom was the butlers quarters. The maids quarters was next to it and they always have the stairs leading down to the kitchens. So when you see a house with a set of stairs leading to the kitchen and there are another set of stairs with a nice set of banisters leading down to the rest of the downstairs this is a sign of the house was built by someone of wealth who had servants. Back in the 1800s many had servants in those days and could afford them until Woodrow Wilson screwed everyone with income taxes! And now all these beautiful houses are going into ruin because of the taxes put upon them! Retarded governments!
If people must steal from empty houses that is bad enough - but why destroy the house? Why not shut the door as you leave so maybe in the future someone could buy that house.
Oklahoma Ghost Towns nope, you are incorrect, not a MANSION. just a big old house which was very nice in its day. look up MANSION on Wikipedia, there is certain criteria, this nowhere meets it.
Unheard Uv you are correct. good explanation, but probably will be dismissed by the younger, uneducated who assume they know everything and need no actual factual requirements of what a MANSION is and is not.
Steve Franklin Where do I start, Steve? I'm probably not younger, certainly not uneducated, and i did look up the definition of mansion, and this is what I found in Merriam Webster, (which you should be familiar with unless you are young and uneducated), a (1) : manor house (2) : a large imposing residence b : a separate apartment or lodging in a large structure So, as you see, this dwelling fits the bill for definitions one and two. It seems rather overqualified for the last definition. If you would rather, we can go with Wiki's definition; A mansion is a large dwelling house. The word itself derives through Old French from the Latin word mansio "dwelling", an abstract noun derived from the verb manere "to dwell".Wikipedia And so, even though this mansion doesn't have the big white pillars, and it does have a barn behind it, which by some definitions is also part of the mansion, it still qualifies. This is a lot of squabble about such a petty thing, but i would hate to see the undereducated go away with faulty information. I hope you enjoy the rest of this man's videos. He does such magnificent work.
@@yungmew2 No, that's just where the driveway starts. The driveway is almost two blocks long. See if this works. Dropped pin Near Osage County, OK maps.app.goo.gl/zjZMR611mYCyZPVW9
@@cowboygeologist7772 this helped thank you so much !!!!! do you know if it’s hard to get in? like the neighbors will call police ? i don’t vandalize i just take my photos and go quick 🤣
This house reminds me of something Frank Lloyd Wright would have built, with it's beautiful brick and stone work, low hip roof, and deep eaves. It's sad to see it in such a state. Thanks for sharing!
