I love that this is the dude we used to watch when we were teenagers and he’s still trying to be relevant. Mad props. I broke into a many rock quarry’s to bass fish bc of this man.
I have caught so many fish because of this man right here. He’s not trying to sell you anything and explains what, when and where to use these techniques.
Dude I know he’s such a cool and chill guy. Wish so much he was my neighbor so we could talk shop and hit the lake together. Bet yer bottom dollar he’d have some super sick and awesome “secret” fishing spots around town. A boy can dream... lol.
After all the tournament wins, TV shows and massive bass caught you still have such a passion for fishing and teaching the sport of fishing! You can hear it in your voice and the excited to watch different types of trailers work and it's awesome to see! I am glad you are still sharing your passion with us all!
Roland has only gotten better with age. He is by far the most authentic person doing bass fishing videos on RU-vid. I don’t feel the need to take a shower after watching. Hey, Roland, if ever you’re back in Santee country give me a shout, I’ll buy you beer!
I put my chatter bait in the water to show my dad how cool the paddle tail trailer looked with it and wham a 6lber comes up from under the grass mat and inhaled it right in front of us. I caught so many big bass that trip on a white chatterbait. Great lure forsure.
Good day Sir! I tell you what Mr. Martin, I'm only one in about a gazillion admirers of yours but I am a huge fan. Even before I was building Tracker boats I was watching you on TV on Saturday afternoons. RU-vid has given you your niche in my humble opinion. It's given us fans the opportunity to get to know you a lot better and for that I am grateful. I'll cherish your advice, tips and infinite wisdom from A to Z. Thnx
Mr Martin I promise to never stop watching. I'm 52 years old and have been a true fan for my entire life. I recently found you on RU-vid and literally about lost my mind. You sir have and will always be the true master of the fishing world. I tell all my friends that you are back on the air on RU-vid. Haven't gotten to them all yet but I'm sincerely trying. I just wish I could broadcast it and blow up your channel, because I know that there are millions more who just don't know that you make RU-vid videos. Please please keep making videos Mr Martin and I'll keep telling as many as I can. And thank you for so many great memories , and for all the new ones.
Man, the best part of my childhood was waking up early with my grandpa and watching Roland Martin, Bill Dance, and Orlando Wilson. I'll always cherish those. My grandpa had the chance to fish in a tourney with Roland, and Orlando taught me & my grandpa how to properly filet a fish. My greatest memories
I throw an original Chatter Bait and retrieve it real fast so the Bass can’t get a good look at it and they think they’re hitting a Jack Hammer. I save money that way 😉🎣
Well if I reel it in fast enough the bass will think they're eating they're natural forage, jackhammers Bass: hey look it's a blugi- I mean a jackhammer. 😂
As I kid I would get up early Saturday morning just to watch Roland on TNN. So cool to see he’s still making great content and I’ve become a fan of his son, Scott. Hope he brings home the Classic title for dad!
Whenever I'm looking for information on anything for fishing I always will click Roland Martin's videos first. Since childhood he's been my favorite. Thanks Roland!
Roland... You are the man. I've watched you for MANY years, and your desire to fish and share information about fishing, is so genuine and appreciated. You are like a kid who caught his 1st 5 pounder, and I hope the magic never fades. You've done it all, and it never leaves your heart. God bless and thank you. I hope to meet you some day...
Wouldn’t it feel like Xmas morning if you saw Roland moving into the house next to yours?! Imagine having this cool of a dude as your neighbor.. the fishing stories he’d have to tell, the fishing day-trips you’d take with him.. he IS the ultimate fishing buddy. Imagine all of the things he could teach you. I’d bring him with me to the biggest fishing superstore in town and give him my credit card and and tell him to set me up proper! Lol.
I remember watchin' this dude go out on a tournament ready to kick ass and chew bubblegum only to leave the bubblegum back at the boat ramp. He's been on his game from the first cast he ever made. He had such an impact on making fishing what it is today and still leads the way carrying the sport in so many different directions. Mr. Martin, I can't think of a better fishing trip to go on than one sharing a boat deck with you. Entertaining, educational and just downright fun. Roland Martin could make being snagged in a tree with a backlash a good time on the water. Thanks Mr. Martin for bringing fishing to the level you have...by the way, I got nothing going on most weekends, let's go fishing, always wanted to say that to you...
@@brucemoyers1006Some people don't like fishing, don't like those with passion, maybe dislike RM, or fluorocarbon, or maybe they don't like zman. So few people even know themselves it's an exercise in futility to try to understand them.
The fishing community couldn’t ask for any better ambassadors than the Martin family . I’ve had the pleasure of meeting scott at resort marina down in clewiston .Class acts all of them .
Thanks Roland. I like you go back a very long time in Bass Fishing. In fact I met Ray Scott, when he was just starting to organize Bass Masters. I met him at the Philadelphia Sportsman show. I was giving casting demo's in the huge pool in the center of the center. Well he came over to me and started talking about his plan and I ask how could I help him. He said he would like to have someone travel to the bass clubs in New Jersey, just so happen that is where I was living. So I went to the road and talked up this new idea to the many clubs in the state. So I have always felt I helped in a very small way to help get Bass off the ground. I tried to get into competition however, with a new small family I did not have the resources needed to travel. So I just watched you and the early pro's do your magic. Just wanted to let you know I am a life long fan of yours and you have given me years of some great bass lessons. Stay safe.
Roland, Ive been watching u for 34 years , from your TV show, to my years of subscriptions to Bassmaster magazine. Always enjoyed watching you, and even now on RU-vid. Glad to see your in good health and still fishing! Thx for the video friend.
Mike Waara lol thanks! You know the craziest part is? That vid was from awhile back. If you can believe it, the video would be about 2-2.5 times longer if it included all of the Biden f ups in the past couple months.. and ya know what’s EVEN CRAZIER than that? The almost dominant half of the country with trillions of dollars couldn’t produce a better candidate.. in other words he’s the best they had!
Hey Roland. It’s so awesome that you evolved with times & have these awesome, informative & cool old school chill vibes of when I used to watch you on T.V as a kid. I tell my Boys as we watch your Videos…Now Boys That There Is a LEGEND.. you’ve been a Bass Master for Decade’s. Really Respect & Appreciate your passion all these years
Thanks for the training. I barely have time to fish since getting out of the military but i watch these videos and love them. I go try them every chance i get
Roland your incredible drive and motivation is top notch over the year's...you have contributed so much more than we ever expected..may God richly bless you my brother...you are truly a living legend !!!!
I have been watching you since the late 80's when I was a wee lil boy. It is because of guys like you and Bill Dance that got me really interested in fishing. You have been a true inspiration to me growing up and now your boy is a big inspiration to my youngest boy. I wish you and your family the best.
Thanks Roland. Just starting to learn how to use chatter baits - I love them. Caught my biggest bass on Lake Eufaula Jigging one off the bottom. Appreciate the education and keep on teaching.
A local guy by me makes bladed jigs, he works at the nearby Scheels store, and they actually stock his baits at the store now. Mudd custom baits is what it is called, and they work really well. Got a nice pulse to them and they only cost like....6 dollars. He makes some sick spinner baits as well, I have been very impressed with them actually.
Roland, You such a Pro, and, even with your son and grandsons, you are One of a kind, thanks for keeping busy and teaching some valuable lessons. I am 72 years old and I feel like I’ve known you all of my life, and My son, and your son have worked together for over 15 years in FLW, now I know Scott is on a super mission for his unfinished family business 🎣🔨🎣🙌✊🌟✊ Happy Easter 2021, from Will ✊
I’m glad I found this channel! When I was young, I had a big Roland Martin book about fishing (garage sale or hand me down) that I read I don’t know how many times, and I think you caused my love for fishing to really take off. I’ve watched a LOT of videos on chatterbaits, and this one is one of the best. Thanks!
My Dad brought me and my brother to your fishing resort on Okeechobee when I was kid. Dave was our guide it is one of my favorite fishing memories we tore em up
Never used them till last year. Caught a couple smallies last summer just messing around trying to figure them out. Now I'm getting serious and want to master these things. I like the way Roland shows you how to work the reel/bait properly, a lot of these guys show the setup but don't show the work. I live in Michigan, we have excellent bass fishing, but we also have salmon, steelhead, pike, walleye, musky, etc, etc. Bass fishing was always fun but really just messing around. Now I own a house on the Thunderbay River Floodwaters and all of a sudden I'm in love with bass fishin' so I want to learn as much as I can from a real pro.
Great video Roland I got bought some thunder crickets at Lews sportsman warehouse in Springfield mo haven't tried them out yet but I'm excited to especially after watching your video great stuff thanks for sharing your videos Roland I watch all the time
Really great video. Fished one last year with a buddy and I really didn’t know what I was doing or I should say what the lure was supposed to do. Can’t wait to try it again! Roland, your videos are the best, without prejudice, they are the best fishing tip videos on you tube. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I’ve been converted to a believer of the jackhammer, that slow roll retrieve and ripping it out of the grass has helped me tremendously. The key to fishing this for me is not to overfish it. Been rewarded with some solid 5 lbers and good bags!
I was researching info videos on Chatterbaits and they were good but I know if I came to ROLAND I'd be hearing and watching from the master himself👏. You, Sir, never disappoint me! Love learning from you 💯🙌.
Merry Christmas Roland. To your viewers, if you want the closest thing by Zman to the Jackhammer model is the Custom model sold at top places such as Tackle Warehouse. The Elite is next one down then the original. The differences are the build quality, materials of the blade, hook rigidity, and the quality of the skirt. The Jackhammer has a steel blade, very solid 4/0 hook, and a hand tied skirt. And this is why it costs twice the price of the next best of the line which is the Custom model. And the Zako is not the only or even the best trailer because everything in what you choose is based on what the bass are feeding on in the water where you are. And as shown a while back on the Tactical Bassin channel demonstrated is when using a paddle tail type trailer, our the paddle tail bait on upside down so the paddle pints up in the same direction as the blade. If your water is mostly bluegills or crawfish, a craw, chunk, or sweet beaver. Another one of the most active trailers for any jig is the Cowboy twin tail style grub. Final thing you can do to help attract fish by sight and smell...dip the tail or the tips of the claws in some type of garlic dye such as JJs Magic or Spike it. Beware not to use any of these dips on anything made with non standard soft plastic formula because it will melt your bait just like the salt in most standard plastics salt will dissolve any ElazTech or 10,0000 fish product. Happy holidays to everyone and I’m hoping this crazy Central Florida windy, cold weather will stop so I can get back out there fishing. Even the aquatic birds are all gone elsewhere which is four years, I’ve never seen happen before. Very crazy stuff going on with all things in nature as the planet is orbiting and tilting the northern hemisphere away from the Sun. The media thinks this is man made carbon emission Global Warming. Nope, it ain’t but it gonna be very rough.
Have to correct you on 1 thing I’ve had conversations on jackhammers with zman because I sell them for a retail store, their actually a 5/0 gam hook and also their heads are made of tungsten which is one of the reason their so expensive but well worth it
Roland Martin Outdoors Roland, I hope you didn’t take anything I’ve written as negative against you and your video. As I’m still a big time amateur, I find that baits where technique is optional, helps me until I learn how to fish them better. I started writing while your video was playing and I’m sorry I covered some of the same things you discussed after I finished typing my comment. I hope you might have had the chance to check out the other channel. I’d love to see you and Matt fish together. His style and your style are fairly different, but that’s what makes fishing so much like my former professional profession...music. Very few things are wrong, and tons are a matter of opinion and what works best for each individual. Hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year holiday and a great 2020!
I was using chatterbait with the Rapala crushcity freeloader I think about 4.25 long and caught so many 3-4 lb bass thats up here in CT to me thats big lol the river bugs too got those long tails work pretty good. love watching all your videos just got into kayak fishing but im trying everything you do out there maybe one day ill catch a 10lber
Roland I take a bullfrog colored baby Brush hog and pinch it behind the arms and use it as a trailer on my craw and bluegill colored strike king jigs. Good success with it.
Hey Mr. Roland, ask your camera support about getting a "CPL" filter for the camera lens. It will cut the glare on the water so while you're demoing lures we can see the action better. I learned how to fish watching you over the years. Thank you for your time...
Those kickin zakos are *the best* swimjig trailer I’ve ever used, period. I’ve had afternoons where nearly every cast on highly pressured water got me hit on a 3/8 swimjig (that I tied to match my local sunfish) with a kickin zako. I’ve followed guys down the bank, pulling fish out of places they missed. While the jig pattern MIGHT be a factor, I’m positive the zako is. It’s a dead perfect kick/pulse on a medium retrieve. It’s also a bit of a different look. Nearly everyone uses keitechs or rage swimmers so the zako’s pitch perfect kick looks good AND looks different. I can’t recommend those highly enough if you’re a “prolific” swimjig fisherman.
Hey your videos are full of how to. And why.. Your years of experience and your history of the bass top end people and your storys. Make this interesting..you will be forever Remembered and seen on this... thanks
I lost 3 chatterbaits last week lifting it up and letting it drop. All that did was make sure the hook was no longer facing up and, that increased my chances of getting hung. And get hung I did. The structure I used to bang into and keep going now grabbed my hook. I'll stick with a steady retrieve.
Personally I like the project Z Chatterbait. And I've been pairing it up with the cowboy for as long as I've known that plastic which is probably a year or a little bit better. It works and I throw almost exclusively green pumpkin. Black and blue just doesn't seem to work for me no matter whether I'm down south or up north in Maine. I'll see what works on Guntersville come the first weekend in April when I hit the kbf national championship that weekend.
