The biggest objection to the theory of 'abrogation' of the Qur'aan is that there is not ONE single sahih Ahadith that can be traced back to the Prophet[saw] which claims that any part of the Qur'aan has been abrogated. It is hard to believe that Allah[swt] would reveal the Quraan through the Prophet[saw] and then leave the issue of abrogated verses to linguistic gymnastics by scholars 50 years after the death of the Prophet[saw]. Secondly the Qur'aan itself states ' ..no falsehood [batil] can ever come to it in open or secret' . This has been used by the great Qur'aan commentator Muslim al Isfahani of total rejection of the theory of abrogation. Once again Dr Naik is pandering to salafi dogma of believing everything in Muslim and Bukhari is 100% true [ stoning adulterers ]. The verses from Sura Nisa are not specifically linked to zina. The Qur'aan uses the general term 'fahisha' [ immoral acts] , which could include homosexual relationships, not amounting to zina. Zina is the specific case of sexual relationship between a man and a woman not married to each other, which of course is punishable by 100 lashes,as stated in Surah Noor.

"There are no verses in the Qur'an that contradict." Surah 19:33 quotes Jesus as saying that he would die and rise from the dead. Surah 4:157 says he never died. Looks like a contradiction to me. In order to reconcile this, Muslims are forced into the awkward claim that Jesus will die and rise after he comes back. Surah 6:100-101 says that Allah cannot have a son because he has no consort. Surah 19 says that Mary had a son even though she had no consort. This would make the logic of Surah 6:100-101 invalid; it assumes sonship requires sex, when Jesus' virginal conception directly disproves that. Also, Surah 39:4 says that Allah *can* have a son, but chooses not to, once again contradicting Surah 6:100-101. The only way to reconcile this contradiction is to say that Surah 6:100-101 is talking about a different kind of "sonship" from Surah 39:4. That makes sense, but it also means that lots of popular Qur'anic arguments against Christianity are rendered invalid. Someone has asked Dr. Naik this question before; he has not given a satisfactory answer. "Surah 16:101 says Allah does not cause any of his ayat to be forgotten, but replaces it with something better than it or like it." Surah 16:101 says nothing about Allah keeping the ayat from being forgotten; it only talks about replacement. This verse very well *could* be intended to explain *why* Allah allows certain ayat to be forgotten. Many Muslims have used this argument to get around the problem of forgotten verses in the hadith. Here are some examples: According to one hadith, multiple chapters out of the Qur'an were forgotten, except for one verse, which is not in the Qur'an today: sunnah.com/muslim/12/156 According to another hadith (and several others in the same book of the same collection), there originally were verses in the Qur'an that gave permission for a woman to breastfeed a man she was not married to in certain circumstances. The Qur'an says that Christians are to "stand fast by" the Injeel in Surah 5:68, and in Surah 7:157, the Qur'an says that Christians should be able to find Muhammad predicted in their own books--even though we do not. And finally, in Jamiat Tirmidhi 2653, Muhammad says that the true Injeel is "with" the Christians in the *same* way the Qur'an is "with" the Muslims (sunnah.com/tirmidhi:2653). "In some prohibitions Allah has gone in stages." It's fine to say that, but in that case Dr. Naik needs to stop acting as if Old Testament prohibitions against the eating of pork were reaffirmed with Jesus and somehow confirm Islam. You say that Imam Malik and Hammad had the authority to abrogate verses; what this means is that Muslims who are not prophets have the authority to throw verses out of the Qur'an. How is that different from "corrupting" the Qur'an? Especially since Muslims so often criticize Christians for supposedly altering the Bible in the same way? Regarding the other surahs, read the hadith again. Abu Musa is clearly disappointed that he forgot the missing surahs--he warns the reciters of Basra not to get lazy in reciting *their* verses, the way he did. Why would he be disappointed if the prophet abrogated them? It sounds like what you're saying is that one of the main proofs that the Qur'an is from God is that it is the only book that has been "preserved." When non-Muslims point out that the hadith say some verses are missing, Muslims say, "Those verses were abrogated." In other words, it sounds like "abrogation" is a convenient way of saying, "The Qur'an is perfectly preserved, except for all of the verses we lost." "The New Testament is not the Injeel." There is no actual evidence that any book called the "Injeel" was given to Jesus. Muhammad seems to have made a mistake on that point. The only "Injeel" there is any evidence for is the Gospel that Christians have had pretty much since the beginning of the Christian movement. You claim that the Bible had lots of updates. When? Where? Who updated it? How? Why? Did they alter all copies, or only some copies? If all copies, who had the power to do that, and why is it that *no one* cared enough to protest? Was the alteration intentional or unintentional? Can you tell the difference between what is original and what is an "update"? If so, how? In my experience Muslims rarely answer these questions. They only assume the Bible was corrupted because it disagrees with the Qur'an. That is not strong evidence.

I've searched the name Suwayd bin Sa'id and can't find any sources particularly disparaging his reliability. Wiki says he was an early convert, and the following article doesn't seem to have anything to say that might discredit his reliability (if it's the same guy). And they're not the only ones. Lots of online hadith collections don't list the grades for the hadith, but this one grades Muslim 1050/2286 "sahih" as well. That aside, if ibn Sa'id was "unreliable", are you saying he invented this hadith? Or only that he transmitted it incorrectly? From what I can tell, he was the last in the chain of narration, so it seems unlikely that he invented it, and I can't imagine a version of this hadith that *doesn't* acknowledge that certain surahs are missing. Why did God need to bring something better? Why couldn't he have seen what was coming in the future and just brought the best verse to start with? Even though the original sira of ibn ishaq is lost, huge portions of the text's meaning has been perserved by people at at tabari and ibn hishem and scholars know how to find interpolations and get rid of them. Also the hadiths about verses and surahs being taken out of the Qur'an isn't very reliable and contradicts the Qur'an. The 6 authoritative collections of hadith have been proven to be mostly authentic especially Bukhari and Muslim which has little to no fabrications or weak hadiths. The wording may have of course changed but the meaning in most hadiths has probably stayed the same but I dont see how is this a valid argument against Islam since the basis of Islam lies in the Qur'an. You really need to cite your sources cause a lot of this information is complete nonsense or heavily misinterpreted. Bukhari may have some unreliable hadiths but its still mostly reliable and you can easily see if its reliable or not depending if it contradicts the Qu'ran, contradicts other hadith or has a weak chain of narration. We believe in Jesus (Peace be upon him) as a prophet of god, and we believe that god rose him up to heaven before they kill him. Please note that the word translated as "worshipped" in both verses is the GREEK word "prosekunesan" which is derived from the root word proskuneo {pros-ku-neh'-o}. The literal meaning of this word is (and I quote): "to kiss, like a dog licking his masters hand." This word also has the general meaning of "bow, crouch, crawl, kneel or prostrate." Please check the Strong's concordance for the true meaning of this word. Is the act of kissing someone's hand the same as worshipping him? Once again, selective translation. However, the above two verses of John and Matthew are not the only two verses of the Bible were such selective translation techniques are employed in order to impress upon the reader a chosen doctrine. For example, in the "Gospel of Matthew" the English "translation" records that Jesus was "worshipped" by Magi that came from the East (2:11); by a ruler (9:18) , by boat people (14:33), by a Canaanite woman (15:24), by the mother of the Zebedees (20:20); and by Mary Magdalene and the other Mary (28:9) to name but a very few. Since worshipping any one other than God is a fundamental sin, therefore, the reader understands that Jesus was God since he condoned them "worshipping" him. Since Jesus (pbuh) never once in the whole Bible ever told anyone "worship me!" (as God Himself does in many places), therefore, once again, we are told that Jesus was "hinting" that he wants us to worship him. However, as we can plainly see, what the author was in fact saying in these verses is that these people "fell at Jesus' feet," or that these people "knelt before Jesus." How then shall we interpret their "kneeling down before Jesus."? Should we understand that they were "praying" to him? Far from it! Let us ask the Bible to explain: "And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, [upon] me [let this] iniquity [be]: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid." 1 Samuel 25:23-24 When Abigail "fell before" king David was she "worshipping" him? Was she "praying" to him? When she addressed him as "my lord," did she mean that he was her God?. Similarly, "Then she went in, and fell at his (Elisha's) feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out." 2 Kings 4:37 "And his (Joseph's) brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we [be] thy servants." Genesis 50:18 "And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king's household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;" 2 Samuel 19:18 "Worship" is one of those English words which carry a double meaning. The one most popular among most people is "to pray to." This is the meaning that immediately springs into everyone's mind when they read this word. However, "worship" has another meaning. It also means "to respect," "to reverence," or "to adore" (see for example Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, tenth edition). The second meaning is used more frequently in England than, for example, in the United States. However, the first remains the most popular and well known meaning in any English speaking country. Even at that, in Britain it is not at all uncommon even in this age to find the British addressing their nobles as "your worship." What the translators have done when translating these verse is that they have "technically" translated the word correctly, however, the true meaning of this word is now completely lost. Finally, in order to seal the proof of this matter and to dispel any lingering doubt that may remain in the reader's mind, the reader is encouraged to obtain a copy of the "New English Bible." In it they will find the translations of the quoted verses to read: 1."bowed to the ground" (2:11); 2."fell at his feet" (14:33); 3."falling prostrate before him" (28:9), and 4."fell prostrate before him" (28:17)...etc. Please also read the translation of these verses in "The Complete Bible, an American Translation" By Edward Goodspeed and J. M. Powis Smith where they are once again honestly translated as: 1."they threw themselves down and did homage to him" (2:11), 2."fell down before him"(14:33), 3."and they went up to him and clasped his feed and bowed to the ground before him" (28:9), and 4."bowed down before him"(28:17), etc. Indeed, it is not at all uncommon in the Bible to read of men "worshipping" the prophets of God. For example, the pagan king of Babilonia is described as "Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him. The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth [it is], that your God [is] a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret. Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise [men] of Babylon" Daniel 2:46-48 This verse, like those which describe prophet Jesus (pbuh) in the Bible, are describing the act of "prostration" or "bowing one's head to the ground" out of respect and reverence. It does not mean that the king was praying to prophet Daniel (pbuh). When people read similar descriptions of people "falling to the ground" before prophet Jesus (pbuh) they immediately insist that Jesus (pbuh) must be God since he was condoning their "prayers" and did not object. However, here we have and example of another prophet of God who "did not object" to the "worship" of others. Does this mean that prophet Daniel too is God? Obviously not. We need to take the Bible as a literary whole and apply a consistent standard in all cases in order to arrive at the true meaning of its words. Once again, we remember that such sublime manipulation of the translation in order to establish with the reader a chosen doctrine was exposed by God in the noble Qur'an. The Qur'an says: "There is among them a party who distort the Scripture with their tongues that you might think that it is from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture; and they say, 'It is from God,' but it is not from God; and they speak a lie against God, and [well] they know it!"
