LONG VIDEO WATCHING TIP - especially if youve already watched my videos and want to refresh- you can set the youtube player to play it faster than real time! Thats how I watch my own videos to check them for errors and how I watch other videos to save time.

I play it slower so I don't miss a word you say. Sometimes I write down your words. Emily could you please go to AIDC next year? So many behavior and agrression problems would be solved with your training method. I have already told Mike Shikashio when he asked who we would like to see next year.

I adore all the sleepy well mannered dogs just hanging out while this lil bean jumps around, resting calm dogs is such a great thing people dont realize

Wow, 2hrs! The amount of pure gold content you give us is is truly amazing, thank you. The leash connected training plan has been a great help teaching myself and fam how to enjoy walks with our gorgeous little Wiem puppy. I recommend it to anyone struggling with leash walking

I’ve watched your channel for around 12 years, I first started when I had my imaginary dog 😂… carried on watching when I met my now husband who already owned a dog, and still carrying on because I finally adopted my rescue dog. Ive binge watched so many trainers/dog training shows, and you’ve always come out in top for me. It’s not that I dislike other trainers, but You break down training so well and when I come to your channel for specific advice, I’ve always heard something that little bit different that sets me up for success. Thank you 🩷 🐾

Awe thanks 🙏 I don’t know if my videos are the most entertaining but they are full of info that I hope will help people problem solve so if people have the motivation to train they’ll find what they need

Production value is great and I'll watch for that alone, but what we all really need is the information. I can't express to you how much you've helped me understand dogs and helped me train my own, for free. I could write an essay about what your channel has done for me. I was gutted when I saw your algorithm update and I stop myself from watching shorts in support of you and other content creators.

Thank you for going over the basics and breaking it down for the owner and pet. Your explanations as to why the dog does something or other positive emotional responses from the dog. Always focus on helping the dog to be successful. Your compilation of loose leash walking was /is well done. You have made additional resources for your viewers if needed which is a big plus for some viewers.

I have an 11 month old GSP and have been having a really hard time with loose leash walking. I walk him on a long line with a harness (6 foot lead was awful) and my protocol has been to stop when the line goes taut, walk up to him taking in slack so he can't move forwards, and use my attention command "focus" when I get to him. When he makes eye contact I mark and reinforce by allowing the walk to continue. It has worked well in getting him to make eye contact, at first it took forever but now he looks at me pretty quickly whenever the leash stops him. If he is excited though, he shoots straight to the end of the line upon hearing the marker word and we repeat this I see that the above has done nothing to teach him that staying close to me is the desired behavior, only that looking at me means we continue. He is however extremely stimulated at all times on walks and does not respond to even high value treats like hot dogs at all. He is a hunting breed and his sole focus on walks is to hunt. How can I get him to want to stick by me when there is nothing I can offer him more exciting than the environment?

I have a question if I may: I have a 4 year old dog whom I walk on a harness. I've not put a lot of time into loose lead walking cause, to be honest, I'm not that fussed. He doesn't pull very often and I don't mind that he walks out in front however, If I started from the very beginning of loose lead training but using a flat collar instead of harness is it possible that I could train so that he knows that if he's on the collar, he needs to stick close but if he's on the harness he's free to do his usual out front/stop and sniff/dilly dally? Like can I use the two pieces of equipment as a signal to Stuart as to what I expect of him?

How long of a leash do you usually use?

My dog has an amazing loose lead walk but when we are on grass she’s just sniffs the whole time. That’s great but I want to do an assessment which includes lose lead off lead but she would pay no attention to me if on grass. I have watched the video go sniff but feel like it kind of feels wrong to pull her away.
@kikopup
@kikopup Год назад
I suggest you use a very high value treat. So you tell her to go sniff where there is grass and concrete, then say "lets go" waggle the treat at her nose and back up fast to get her to follow it. Mark and reinforce. Then say "ok! go sniff" and let her sniff again, repeat and repeat so she doesnt think the recall is the end of the fun sniffing. another trick is to tell your dog "go sniff" then as they do you click and treat, and act really excited. And with the right value of treats, the dog starts sniffing but then sometimes will decide they rather work for treats instead of sniff because they didnt get clicked for sniffing so they will try something else like offering you attention.

at 1:30... I'm not a dog trainer just a dog owner. I like training behaviours that I want to be strong when I'm at the dog park as dumb as that sounds haha. Going to the park is our routine together time every single day, where I'm totally focused on him. If I train him at home it gets a little bit difficult later, when I'm busy and am not paying attention to him, because the training sets the tone for how he behaves at home. I'm just learning to train dogs, and I make a lot of mistakes. If he doesn't understand the training and gets frustrated, then it's hard for him to destress, because later on, if I'm busy and he wants attention, he thinks the problem is that he needs to figure something out, rather than the problem being that it's rest time and he needs to calm himself down and chew something or something. If I train him at the park, not only is he doing it at a place where there's loads of outlets to blow off steam when he's tired from having to be so extremely good, but we can both leave the frustration there, and we can persevere at stuff we're working on for a long time because it's so structured, we do it every single day. It's nice that he can sprint around the field at full speed to get his feelings out when I make things too hard by accident haha. Someday I will get better at it, he's my poor guinea pig child while I learn what I'm doing haha.

Hi Emily, I'd like to purchase Leash Walking Connected and have a few questions. Can I follow and learn Leash Walking Connected without watching your video Reactivity or Harnessing the Hunter? If any technical problems or questions occur, how should I contact you? Thanks!
