With only one full season starting job, I think I'm impressed with some of his processing, but he could go out sad like Wentz with decision making and anticipation.
Best video on him yet... Most are just falling for all the hype and the potential but you really broke it down. Us Gators fans would say the same thing after watching him all year last year. It was not just all good.
Because what he possesses doesn't need years of college football. If coaches are smart or want to get everything out of him, use him like Hurts and Lamar & you get hella wins and ticket sales.
He would be sitting behind Goff more than a year. Why does everybody naively think that just because he’s a good athlete that his accuracy and pocket skills are going to get better? His accuracy and QB skills have no more of a shot at becoming nfl caliber than some round 5 QB with similar accuracy.
I think he has all the physical tools but, boy oh boy, does he need to clean up his footwork. I think he can succeed but more than most prospects it's about where he goes and if he can sit for awhile. Wish him the best.
Finally! A true assessment of AR. I applaud the creator! Yes, he’s a project and could be out of the league in a couple of years, but he also could be a superstar, with multiple Super Bowl appearances. With that said, he’s going to be at Detroit Lion! We’ve never been to a Super Bowl so if there’s any team in the league that should roll the dice, it should be us.
@@AlexRollinsNFL Brad Holmes is quietly killing free agency! He just signed David Montgomery, Montgomery ran for 800 yards behind Chicago’s pathetic line, he’s a 1000 yard rusher behind Detroit’s line. At this point almost every pick is a luxury pick. I know there’s teams in front of Detroit that can pick AR but he’s our guy until I see otherwise.
The biggest thing is the scheme they put him in is a challenging one, and he didn't do bad in it. He constantly had to make perfect passes as a youngquaterback. I think he will be the best in the class.
The scheme hes in now for Indy is actually known to be incredibly simple. It allowed Hurts to play fast and aggressive. Shane Steichen is a perfect offensive mind to coach this dude.
@@MrKeepItGoing The Colts signed Gardner Minshew. If the Colts want long term success then they draft AR and start Gardner Minshew this year, unless they feel that AR is ready during some point in the season.
& I also believe Levis is a bit more ready than most think. Of course he has concerns, but Kentucky's scheme and lack of offensive firepower is what hindered him.
Anthony Richardson reminds me of Justin Herbert when he was at Oregon. Not in play style, but more like his whole Dr. Jekle and Mr. Hyde type of play. He has crazy highs that make you think he’s the next franchise QB, and the next play he looks like an absolute bust that makes you question why he’s playing even D-1
look how different jalen hurts looked from rookie year (limited playing time) to year 2, then to year 3 look at how different lamar looked with the ravens as a rookie (partial playing time) to year 2 obviously everyone points to josh allen it comes down to the guy's willingness to learn and be coached
He’s a generational talent physically but I don’t think his ceiling is as high as people say. For somebody with this many holes in his game, he can be great in a system that hides his weaknesses and maximizes his strengths but even then, he’s not worth investing a number 1 pick in.
9:14 remember seeing this 360 lol. Still one of the dopest backyard TDs I’ve ever seen from a QB. Some Manziel type moves to avoid the rush. Idk how he wasn’t sacked or even touched, but he extend and threw a dot for a TD and is the best play I’ve ever seen from him.
@@jagsgotjuice id wanna say it’s more a result of the rule changes. They’d be risking a late hit since the QBs in a throwing motion and when ppl go review it frame by frame they may see incidental contact where his helmet was first to make contact. So he’s tossed out. Or he hits and falls on top of him and is flagged. Feel like we’re definitely gonna be seeing a lot more plays like this going forward.
I feel like he should not be drafted any higher than a late 1st round. And this only because of the success of other qbs like LJ8 and Hurts. But he still is a project. Minnesota would be a perfect spot for him
I don't think they actually want to win much this year, as such Mills as a bridge is fine and might even progress more than what they really want for draft seeding.
Can someone name any QB in the last 30 yrs that came out of college with athleticism and no other consistent QB skills ... And had a long and amazing career?
Tim Tebow or Nathan peterman would embarrass him in a throwing duel. There’s CFL QBs that would humiliate him in a throwing dual. I know Chad Kelly could no problem
I used to be on the “he’s a bust” train when a quarterback had accuracy issues or inconsistency problems in college. But after Justin Herbert, I can never fully commit to that again. That was the most wrong I’ve ever been about a quarterback prospect. Anthony Richardson could very well just be another example of an incredibly talented future superstar who didn’t get the coaching he needed in college
The draft is one big trip to the casino. You place a bet on a player and hope for the best. No one saw Brady coming, and Mitch Tribisky was selected before Mahomes. With that said, I like AR's potential and would draft him if Stroud and Young aren't available.
Crazy how you missed the overall message, he can be great, however, breaking athletic records doesn't make up for his ability to consistently throw the ball.
@jamesoconnell3024 1. bruh why you gotta be so aggressive in the yt comment section lol 2. My point was that because he broke some record extra eyes would be on him and that would result in more clicks on this youtube video. I wasn't commenting on Richardson at all.
If I'm in charge of Washington, after just getting EB as the OC and seeing how well he did with the project Mahomes was, I'd risk a lot by trading up to take Richardson
I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers take him first overall and have Dalton and Corral compete for the starting spot in the preseason. They sit him for at least most of the season, give him reps whenever its convenient, and develop him. They'll identify their weak spots throughout the season, work on them in the offseason, and then be prepped to attempt a run in his second year. Just my guess.
Historically you need a legit QB1 if you're going to draft a rookie early, otherwise those mid guys like Dalton just don't play well enough and they're quickly replaced
@@AlexRollinsNFL I definitely agree... I think they could fall in love with his potential though. But last season showed while Dalton isn't going to take you to the playoffs, he is definitely a guy who can win you a few games, and still be a solid mentor... For CHEAP. Obviously for what you gave up, you'd like to get a guy who you can start Day 1. I just wouldn't be surprised if that's the route that they take with 2 former QBs in Frank Reich @ HC & Josh McCown @ QB Coach
The Lions are ideal. Lame duck QB in Goff, good skill talent, top 10 offensive line in the NFL arguably even top 5. Perfect for him to just spend a year, maybe even two, working on his mechanics and just practice being a QB in the NFL.
Richardson needs to get drafted by a team with a good OC that can design the offense around his strengths. I think The Lions or The Giants are best places he could go.
@@Antbeast23 Seattle and Lions are the only places where his chances increases to 50% of becoming a star. They have an ascending OL, a star RB, 2 Star WR’s, a great TE group. And a defense that will improve. And he can sit behind Geno a lot like his Mahomes did with Alex Smith
It's entirely dependent on who drafts him. If he's drafted by a team who understands that his accuracy issues require mechanical tweaks, he'll be a perennial 1st team all pro
Hypothetical: Houston pulls the trigger and they don't like the progress he makes throughput the season, package him in a trade, and use Caleb Williams as the backup plan. Thoughts, anyone?
Because he could get an injury (ACL, Achilles, tommy John surgery necessity). If he gets drafted, he will probably sit behind a QB and get paid MILLIONS to watch and learn (which is better than playing another year in college and don’t get paid and risk injury) or he may just be good enough to start.
Not that his rookie year may be over i like what i saw from ar, dude started in 13 games in college and in his first 9 quarters gets 7tds. Get healthy Ar15
@@AlexRollinsNFL I completely agree, but both are inaccurate passers especially on crossing and dig routes. Lacking the ability a lot of the time to throw their receivers open.
Thank you! I am so tired of the FALSE HYPE the past 10 years for all of these "TOOLS" QBs....where 80% disappoint! Spending a TOP 10 Round 1 pick with only a 20% return on investment seems like a HORRIBLE idea.
Not really. Drafting franchise QBs can be hit or miss depending on the process. Let alone not having the infrastructure to help them out if they aren't as polished coming out of college which I think is the case for Richardson. But when they do turn into the best case scenario along with the rest of the offensive roster, they can run that division for the next decade.
@@chandlerrussell7931 my point is why not spend a 3rd and a 5th and a 7th pick and get 3 of them and let them battle it out in camp....if none of them make it, try again the following year.....use the TOP 20 picks for guys in the trenches.
I'd been waiting for your analysis on Anthony Richardson. I don't like to make predictions about players very often, but in his case, I can't imagine him ever making it in the League. His upside is obviously his athletic ability, but let's say that he gets injured. You're left w/ nothing. This is a guy that if he were forced to stay in the pocket, he'll never beat you from there. Add in the complexities of League defenses, and he's going to be lost. I don't believe that he has the skill necessary to compete at the next level. As you noted, his footwork is bad, his coverage recognition is bad, his read progressions are bad, and his ability to put the ball in small windows w/ accuracy is awful. And, he definitely should've stayed in school, but he's really not a critical thinker, and he has very little foresight. He just doesn't have the experience necessary to be turning pro, and his ability isn't just raw, it's either undeveloped or non-existent b/c of this. He is simply not a League talent. Having said all this, I can imagine any number of teams thinking that they can "coach him up," but as a top-of-the-draft choice, I think that it's a pick wasted. I think that he should go in the sixth or seventh round, and he can spend off-seasons working w/ a QB guru, such as Steve Clarkson, but anything higher than that, and I believe that it's a draft pick that simply can't be validated. Edit: After having written this, Richardson went out and put on an athletic display at the Combine. He's now the betting favorite to go number one in the draft, and he's being pumped up by every analyst in the game. The thing is, we already knew that he was an athletic freak. His going out and putting quantitative values to that only confirms this. If he hadn't have done this, it would've wrecked him. Regardless, outside of the measurables, upon closer inspection, he didn't look that impressive. His footwork and head movement on dropbacks looked mechanical, especially so for a QB w/ his athletic gifts. His running technique looked like he spent a few weeks working on it, which was another indicator to me that his work ethic should be questioned, and he did not look good throwing the ball. He had accuracy issues throwing to wide open, undefended receivers. If he can't make these throws, what's he going to do against the exotic looks he'll see in the League? They'll bottle up the run, and force him to throw in tight windows, which he can't do. Even after today, I still don't see him as a League QB. Years ago, the head coach for the Utah Jazz was a man named Frank Layden. He once said about potential, 'It's great, when you're coming up in high school or college to be raw and have untapped potential. But, once you hit the NBA, you better have it. At this level, time's up on potential.' While it's one thing to coach a player up, it's a whole other ballgame to take a guy that has shown nothing at any level, including high school, that would indicate that he has the chops to play at the top level of the game. Making an occasional good throw or making a good read doesn't win you games in the NFL. He needs to do this consistently, and there's no evidence that he'll be able to do that.
Ayy Josh Allen wasn’t productive and was raw too but had tremendous arm talent. But every prospect has boom or bust potential mate now a days u need qbs that are versatile not just throw from tight windows and in the pocket u need to be a playmaker and difference maker. It’s translating more than ever. Just get him to the right offense and system give him some coaching he’ll be there
Allen was more polished coming out. Dude at least was willing to move and could throw deep consistently. His accuracy and anticipation wasn't at that level yet (and hilariously comes and goes even as he got more established). Plus Allen at least had 25 reps as a starter even though its Wyoming.
Anthony Richardson this year is getting talked about like Malik Willis last year. And Malik Willis mediocre college performance showed in the season so why is Anthony Richardson getting praised so much when both QBs have mediocre accuracy, handle pressure poorly, and aren’t the brightest in football IQ? I don’t like it when players get praised solely because of their physical attributes and their mediocre football knowledge, accuracy, and college performance gets overlooked
I think the difference is level of competition. Malik played against horrible competition whereas AR played in the best conference in college football.
There is a difference, AR is much more of a gifted thrower, is faster than Malik Willis, has shown some ability to win from the pocket, is better at reading defenses, sees pressure better, throws with great touch and anticipation at times, and is overall a faster processor and smarter player. The best comparison to Malik Willis in this draft is Will Levis
@@chosenone3119 when Patrick mahomes entered the draft he was labeled as having “high football IQ” when Lamar and jalen entered the league they weren’t questioned on their football knowledge. And nobody now is questioning CJ Stroud or Bryce young’s football iq. So shut the fuck up and stop trying to bring race into something that has nothing to do with it. Pull up the Anthony Richardson college tape and stop being an ignorant prick that says that anyone saying anything negative of a prospect is racist when his low football IQ is a genuine problem
I hope this man get to da Giants and Brian Daboll 💯ik he has system that build da system around him ‼️but what wonders me he end ups on a desperate QB needy team that don’t how to Develop him or build a system around him
In what way is the NFL thin at qb talent? We have guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Allen, Herbert, Lamar, and Lawrence all in one conference, how is that thin? This is probably the most talented pool of qbs the NFL has ever seen considering how many qbs are athletic monsters + have all the other mental traits of an elite qb.
@@krokowski3501yeah I would say that the real problem is that college does a gawdawful job of preparing QBs for the NFL. In years past guys like AR15, Allen, Herbert, etc etc would just bust in the NFL. But with the rise of private QB coaching and NFL coaches just getting better at developing talents, we’re finally getting to see what these guys can do. Give it a few more years, and the level of quarterbacking in the NFC will catch up to that of the AFC.
I'm a big fan of your channel, but something that really frustrates me is that *every* single one of your college prospect videos, every draft season, is "this prospect is insane!! but it's risky". It's really repetitive and I've just stopped watching those videos. Just some constructive criticism :)
