I really really hope they keep him around for a couple more seasons and don't kill him off at the end of this one. We don't have enough longer lasting villains in these shows
If the head is at an extreme angle such as chin to chest or all the way back (looking straight up) and the head is violently twisted, Boom…broke ass neck. Likewise, if you have someone in a rear naked choke and you suddenly drop to the ground, that’s a broke ass neck and, possibly a crushed windpipe. So yes, possible but must be done extremely violently and with the person’s head at an extreme angle in order to work.
This is the reason i love this channel. Not toxic. Compare comments on channels like tyrone magnus and Jeremy jahns. Its a breath of fresh air. Thank you for staying true to yourself and just enjoying star wars content. Thank you for not changing and becoming "anti-woke" for views. Thank you for being a genuine honest channel that us Fandom whose sick of the toxicity can come to and just enjoy the stuff we love, toxic free.
His helmet and gauntlets are Cortius weaves. I'm so happy that they brought this to live action and I hope they keep bringing stuff like this because one of the main criticisms that have always existed with Star Wars fights since the very first movie is that due to the extremely validity and 360° cutting edge of the lightsaber, you lose a lot of Dynamics that exist in Ariel's sword fighting such as the ability to avoid a downwards drive from your opponent step on his sword so he can't move it and then kill him while he's exposed. Because they added that sort of countermeasures as well as some of the clever choreography. This has been the most dynamic lightsaber fight since the duel of the Fates, and I really hope whoever designed these fights get to work on every future Star Wars fight with even more prep time and a higher budget.
One thing that stands out is the fact that the Jedi hadn't fought anyone who knew how to use a lightsaber in centuries. It's how he took so many out so fast. Sol was the most experienced so he was able overcome. Jeki was young but a natural which is why she was able to fight him for so long.
I've been following you guys for a while but you're now my new favorite reactors. You know Star Wars lore so much and love this show for what it is. I'm so tired of other Star Wars fans and reactors hating on this and Star Wars now in general just for clicks. Thank you for your giddy enthusiasm .
Have to disagree with Bendu here. Qimir is pure evil, he's not similar to the witches at all. The witches r like "we're a religious community that's not fully ok, but neither r u tbh, let us exist". Qimir (and the sith in general) is like "I'm gonna blow up this hospital full of babies because I'm free and I can". He is however very good at making himself seem similar to the witches, which he does on purpose.
Thanks to Kyle, Bendu and Nerd Chronic! 🌑 It's great to see the energy absorption metal *cortosis* brought into live-action. 🔸 Did you notice a bit of the 'Kylo Ren' theme played as 'Qimir' approached 'Osha' and knelt, near the end?
@@KyleKatarnChannelAcolite episode 5 is the best star wars thing I have ever seen. These fights and choreography surpassed both the Phantom Menace movie and the clone wars episode.
There's actually a VERY similar if not identical theme figuring already in E1. With that and the kintsugi helmetwork, have TKOR been hiding in plain sight all this time? "You'd call me a Sith" - i e he's not saying he IS one. I can try to return with the time stamp, but it's highlighted in @starwarsmusicalanalysis review of E1, and I really think his channel deserves much more attention. Good music is often not only "there" to create a mood, it's telling large chunks of story that we otherwise miss, making connections, nuancing characters, and planting various Easter Eggs.
@@tonyilias2561 Jyn was white, amongst a group of men. That's ok. Lando , a man, supporting character, he's a man , so thats ok. Mace, another supporting character, also a man. Any Star Wars show or Marvel Studios show that doesn't have a mostly male, white cast , is immediately hated from the first trailer , before any of you heard any of the writing. It's rated low because a bunch of you misogynistic racist morons review bombed it. Acolyte was intensely hated from the first trailer, because it featured a black woman , and other minorities in prominent roles. Mae and OSHA and the others are ALL well written characters. As well written as anything in the Star Wars universe. I'm 53 and have watched all Star Wars content, so I should know
Sol is pretty much in shock and has too much trauma and guilt to tell the Jedi about Qimir. It’s why he is likely taking “Osha” to Brendock to come clean without even making a report. Sol is also too traumatized and unstable that he pretty much didn’t use the Force to know Mae is “Osha.” Plus, the wording Qimir made is kind of overlooked. He said to Sol that “you would call me a Sith.” He did not say “I am a Sith.” It’s like a racist saying that other people would call him a Nazi (ex. The Boys show’s revelation in Season 2) but he is not saying the Nazis are back. Qimir’s final plan is obvious. He is going to break Sol’s spirit by making Osha his new acolyte and kill Sol. Qimir is likely a retconned version of Darth Venamis (Venom -> Qimir makes a poison in episode 2). I pretty much advise to be skeptical until watching the Season Finale to make an authentic critique for the show. Who know? The show might end with Plagueis killing Qimir and taking Osha to experiment on her for his studies on Midichlorians. Acolyte is a horror mystery story so I expect a horrifying ending and Plagueis making Osha a lab rat is the most terrifying way to end it. What Plagueis did to test subjects like Venamis: “Traveling to Sojourn-a moon owned by Plagueis and maintained as a personal retreat-Venamis was bested in a duel and forced to ingest a coma-bloom, a poisonous species of flora, putting him into a coma. As part of his experiments with midi-chlorians over the following decades, Plagueis and his droid 11-4D kept the comatose Venamis alive to manipulate and study. Around the year 42 BBY, Venamis was eventually allowed to die by Plagueis, his usefulness finally fulfilled. Afterwards, he was resurrected and killed again and again in the presence of 11-4D, as well as Plagueis's apprentice, Darth Sidious, until Venamis' organs finally ceased to function and Plagueis finally allowed the Bith to die for the final time.”
Your reaction was sick. I love watching people who genuinely love Star Wars for Star Wars watch this show. It might not be the perfect show, but it has some super cool moments, and seeing you light up in excitement makes me not feel so alone in appreciating some of those moments.
Hell yeah! After the drama of what happened in real-life on the socials recently, we most definitely needed the impact of this episode. Holy cow! What an episode! The choreography was phenomenal! So many people died, and even though I had a feeling that Jecki and Yorde might die. my God, they actually did. Gone. But the biggest question remains... WTF did Sol do that many years ago at the witch's convent?
I think he is a rogue Sith apprentice. In the rule of two the only way to become the Master is to kill your Master, and if they can’t or won’t the Master replaces them with a new apprentice. If the Apprentice can’t defeat their Master in a straight up fight, their options are killing them through some other means (poison, bombs, schemes, etc.), recruiting a secret apprentice and taking them out via 2 on 1, or running and going into hiding. Qimir might be doing a combination of options 2 and 3.
Watching this reaction makes me so hyped for how good this episode was, so nice not seeing constant bitter hatred for no reason for the show. Loved the reaction!
Absolutely brutal episode, I can't wait to see what actually happened with the Witches and I love the fact that it may be Sol responsible. The absolute beauty in the writing if they make you love Sol to reveal that it was his fault all along would be incredible.
i'm so glad they didn't attempt to subvert expectations with the qimir reveal. it was like the audience was invited to be in on it and that qimir was begging mae to see through his bumbling fool act. the whole your eyes deceive you theme is so strong.
All Short-Out Lightsabers in this Episode were by Helm or Wristguard (Cortosis for the Win). For the Unstable Crystalls (which comes from Legends and was attributet to Synthetic Crystals)....it whas said in Legends could be countered by higher Quality Kyber-Krystals (like Pontites) PS: Even if Quimir is brutal in his Fighting Style and total disregard who he has to kill...he still seems to have a Poetic site (according what he said to Osha at the end of the Episode)
I’ve seen people get mad at the reveal, sol and jecki being able to keep up with him and even people being killed, it just seems like this show can’t even get praise even after a good episode
Master Kyle "Cortosis" CANON Explanation: Cortosis mineral was a very rare, brittle, fibrous material whose conductive properties caused lightsabers to temporarily disconnect upon contact. This effect made Cortosis a useful material for melee weapons with anti-saber armor, though with repeated blows, a lightsaber could cut through it. Cortosis, due to its energy-resistant properties, was also resistant to blaster fire.
Not to be a lightsaber nerd on main but: i am pretty sure Qimir's fighting style is what eventually becomes Form 6 (Nimaan) which is the Form most associated with the sith. It incorporates all the other forms in a wild, unpredictable way (just like Yord mentioned) and having noticed that I should have been prepared.... Form 6 is the dual wield form. (R.I.P. Jecki)
It is heartwarming to see people enjoying it as much as I do. Manny Jacinto won the show for me. His acting both in the helmet and without it was superb. From a weird and calm guy to a horror movie villain to an apathetic psycho back to calm guy. Love his portrayal of Qimir. He twisted Yord's neck and threw him like a piece of garbage. This is the Sith we all needed! He killed a damn squadron of a Jedi, then it seems he lost on purpose to show Osha how he's slowly pushing Sol towards his dark desires.
People really haven't considered enough that Ki Adi Mundi is an idiot. He says the Sith have been gone for 1000 years and Yoda says "Always 2 there are, a master and an apprentice." So clearly Yoda knows things that Ki Adi Mundi doesn't... we also know that things have been deleted from the Jedi Archives, even though they don't believe that's possible... and they've got a ton of hubris. So it's more than possible that they just don't believe Sol met a Sith just like they didn't believe Qui Gon Jin met a Sith.
Beautiful, Sad, Depressing, Surprising live Act Star Wars Episode in a Galaxy Far, Far Away 😒 Streamed last night on a dark room with "65 Led Telly & 5.1. wireless headphones. Restream time via D+ maybe on saturday evening, but skip for those two moments 😐
I really just wish they focused this show on Sol finding out about Qimir and then hunting him down. Mae and Osha could have been part of the story as side characters but having them carry the show just isnt working for me. I dont think the show would be nearly as hated this way.
Why a Sith wants permission from Jedi? They are not holding him back. There is no need for him to not use his power the way he wants. I heard fight scene is good but how are we going to relate to characters. I mean , well, when a kid jedi put more fight than senior jedis. Is anyone remeber Megneto helmet?
With regards to "when a kid jedi put more fight than senior jedis". In the real-life workplace you can have rockstar new hires who are highly motivated, proactive, eager to learn, very capable, and would try to learn things on their own time. And you can have jaded seniors who are just coasting by and just reactive to what comes next, no longer really developing new skills.
Cortosis A rare, brittle, and fibrous material that can temporarily short out lightsabers when they come into contact with it. Cortosis armor can also redirect a lightsaber's energy and temporarily shut off its blade.
I really wish they would have made more a point of showing the armor was deflecting and shorting out the sabers with the strikes to the arm. I'm sure someone is going to complain, and I wish Mae had shown more effort or any effort in explaining her situation. at least have her say something that goes ignored to justify her fighting back. As soon as they name drop the Sith you there's only three reasonable outcomes, 1. everyone dies. 2. someone lies, or 3. they don't believe this is a true Sith.
The Fight was awesome, but... Ending Little Chick and Yord without even giving them an arc? They only gave them starting points, and didn´t invest enough into their characters for me to care... much about them. And Mae´s just a sociopath? Not turning herself in to Little Chick, and now revenge is back on the table after meeting her sister? -Yeah, Ok whatever. Why did Smliey run off to kill the Wookie?
I believe QImir is not a Sith, but a Knight of Ren maybe even the original Ren himself. Kylo's theme plays both in the intro when Osha was crawling and at the end of the episode
The haters make me sick, saying that this or that is or is not canon, don't they know that there was a Sith empire thousands of years before this? They forget that in the Jedi Academy they don't teach anything about the dark side or the Sith, only that they are bad and ugly hahaha For my part, I love the expansion of the SW universe, for those who don't like it, I invite you not to watch anymore and stop bothering those of us who enjoy the series.
I love these guys! They are enjoying the show for what it is. Enjoying the franchise that we all love and staying out of the politics. Name a Star Wars show where we see dozen Jedi fighting a Sith? I know the concerns with Canon and storyline and hoping they can clean that up but if you didn’t enjoy this, the action ,choreography, take a step back and put the politics aside.
"I really like being surprised." Is that still the case? I like how your mind went to unstable crystals instead of cortosis when the lightsabers first shorted-out, but it was an intense fight, so shouldn't be surprised you missed that they shorted out when he blocked with his bracer and head-butted a saber. Great reference though, I forgot about that one. Also, Qimir said that a Jedi like Sol might call him a Sith, doesn't mean he is one. Maybe he's a Knight of Ren, especially since Kylo's theme was playing at the end there. Just another possibility. Great reaction you guys!
It's surprising how many people miss the Kylo music at the end. I'm convinced that Qimir is a Knight of Ren and not a Sith. The helmet, that music, plus the fact he doesn't really confirm he's a Sith, but rather says the Jedi might call him one. Best Lightsaber battle in live action since the Prequels
Am I crazy for hearing the Kylo Ren theme at 28:05? When the Sith was standing over Osha… is he like, an original Ren or something? Maybe that’s why he wears a mask… Smileo Ren is real…
and here I thought Darth Ramage was a green Twi'Lek. Silly me. and when Osha inevitably doesn't follow him, he'll find Tenebrous. Is that what we're doing now?
Mustache dude's just rambling is... a lot. Just bring it down a notch, bro. You don't have to repeat everything three times and yell over the other guy and yell over the dialog.
@KyleKatarn there’s a theory on episode 3 during the ceremony behind the witch mothers there is a mysterious sith cloaked figure not showing his face nor its one of the witch’s it could be pleagues or his master or smilo ren
I hated seeing Jeki and Yord die but think about it, in order for the Jedi in episode 1 to still believe that the Sith were extinct all the Jedi must die or they would report to the council.
What if Qimir is a pupil of a greater force? And he wants a pupil so he can go after his master? Would be crazy to get a reveal in the last episode of a greater Sith pulling the strings...
I gasped at Jakie's death. That was nuts. N Yord got Steven Segalled n tossed aside. But man Jackie held her own using Jarr Kai. I want to know how quimir disabled their lightsabers like that. The next few eps are gonna be nuts. 1. Mae is gonna be with the jedi so she will learn things that will probably get her to turn to the light. 2. With Ohsa now with Quimir he could be training her to be his next acolyte. Which I'm thinking is to take out the true sith lord so he can as he say "be free to use his power" cuz even in the sith free from the rules of the jedi he needed to remind hidden. N he doesn't want to do that. I'm thinking he was training one of the twins to help him take the sith lord out. N he will do so by unlocking memories of her past n showing her why Sol couldn't be trusted. N it could push her over the edge to join. Quimir. I'm excited for the next ep. How will high council react to the deaths of these jedi n the sudden emergence of the sith. Will they sweep it under the rug or what? Cuz in ep 1 they still believe the sith to be extinct. It wasn't till master Qui gon Jinn's encounter with Darth maul on tattoonie that the high council starts to slowly investigate Qui gons claims. N only after his death n Master Yaddle's death did they start to make their moves
@@karl-niclas_burner Qimir killed the wookie it looks like. Presumably to stop Mae on her plan, because Mae told Qimir that she was going to surrender to Kelnacca.
@@lso8000 - yup. She said the master would kill her if she failed. That caused her to panic and betray him. And that made it so everyone had to die, rather than him being revealed.
“You brought her here.” I feel like this line is so crucial to indicate how far the Jedi are slipping, because Jecki was in her late teens at this point, and a hundred years later, the Jedi are sending 12-14 year old Padawans to the frontlines of war, fighting alongside 10-year-old mass produced soldiers.
@@talisredstar1543 The entire point of the Clone Wars was to show that it *wasn’t* the Jedi’s duty to act as soldiers and generals, at the beck and call of the Senate, as that was part of what led them astray. And Master or not, you’re putting a preteen in the frontline of a galactic war. That’s not duty- that’s irresponsibility and negligence, at best. Honestly, it’s child abuse.
