'The Acolyte' Ep 5 Has One of the Greatest Lightsaber Fights Ever (TV Review) 

Instead of making a show that everyone loves, I think Leslye Headland has made a show that every type of fan has something to hate.

David Chen is completely opposite of form here. For a guy that consistently is bothered by specifics and things not being accurate, it’s rich and hilarious to see why the cannon stuff doesn’t bother him…

For me, the problem with Ki Adi Mundi is that Disney seems obsessed to tie everything, one way or the other, with the OT or the prequels. When I saw the episode, I simply assume that it was just another cerean Jedi (he cannot be the only one...) in the background, minding his business They really should make a show that has no link to the Solo/Skywalker era...

The art of the triple tap was lost to the ages that's why people be surviving saber stabs so much nowadays lol

The master's identity wasn't really a mystery, it was Manny Jacinto's low key under-the-radar acting that helped. Rewatching the previous episodes, it was clearly setting him up.

The biggest problem with this show is the writing and the acting of the main character (s). I really don't care abou Mae and Osha. The 3 minutes between Sol and Qimir were the most interesting in the whole series.

Everything is canon until it isn't, which is a good thing.

I think the Canon debates get a little silly also but I don't think you can fault fans for being invested in the consistency of a series. Part of good world building is creating a sense of belief in that world and plot holes can hinder how we enjoy it. I think we'd agree that some plot holes and inconsistencies are worse than others, but it's a matter of personal opinion. People have been nerding out for decades about the death star having an absurd exhaust port. How's this any worse? It feels like the ire over plot holes is getting conflated with the ire over inclusivity. I see those as two separate criticisms that come from very different places.

I loved the episode for the lightsaber sequences alone. I am enjoying the show overall. I wish I liked the sisters more but love some other characters particularly the 2 that we lost this episode.

I think Sol knows it is Mae. And is asking her if Osha is still alive.

Star Wars doesn't know how to combine fighting and story. We've seen the same problem in Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and now Acolyte. They bring people together and move them apart, telegraphing every move. The way Jecki was fighting was clear she was about to die when they gave her the stereotypical 'glorious death' battle. I actually cheered when Yord died because his character was so vanilla and I was tired of their stalling. They didn't spend near enough time with either character for me to care much. The frustrating thing is I know ABC studios used to do this stuff well. Agent Carter and Agents of Shield cost a fraction of these shows and had 10x the plot. Or they could check out the old CW Arrowverse shows - they got cheesy at times but they knew how to talk in rooms and do a 'story of the week' plot. Disney needs to figure this stuff out. They will save money and up the quality but I'm to the point I don't think they know how to do it anymore.

I will give them props for going dark and killing so many characters. Sadly, the build up and development for the characters was bad. This show does have good ideas but the execution is awful. Such a shame. This could have been awesome/amazing. I would rate it a 6 out of 10. Really wish I loved it more. Also. The twins did a parent trap to a Jedi/sith masters? Its as dumb as it sounds. Its funny but in a silly way.

I think the reason people are upset with the Ki Adi Mundi situation isn't because they "disrespected Ki Adi's age" it's because it's an example of how little the writers and producers care about star wars, that they won't google "how old is Ki Adi Mundi," and just want to put references in as fan service, in shows the community didn't ask for. It's another example that shows they do not care about star wars. I'll be honest the acolyte as a whole is actually alright. Some of the characters are annoying and the actors also don't know anything about star wars, but for the most part its on par with the other Disney shows.

“The Sith have been extinct "for a millennium…”-Jedi Ki-Adi Mundi, the Phantom Menace If the writers can’t keep continuity then their world ceases to be taken seriously. Also the writers show they don’t care. Jedi used as “red shirts” or canon fodder is nothing new. This cliche cheapened what it means to be a Jedi. Training at the Jedi Temple has been reduced it to overpriced Ivy League education like Harvard or Columbia University.

See Osha and Mae did not have identical haircuts! Maes was slightly longer! Now don't you feel silly lol. There was a theory that Sol knows it isn't Osha and is just playing along to peacefully attain Mae.

The problem with Ki Adi Mundi is that he flat-out lied to the rest of the Jedi council when he said the Sith had been extinct for 1000 years... This is a little bit worse that not being born yet...

You guys are not respecting the history

this series just has me eye rolling all over the place.

There wouldn’t be as much of an issue with Ki adi if he didn’t say the line that the sith have been extinct for a millennia.
